Ever since I found the chisel n bits mod years ago, it was an instant favorite
I absolutely love pairing it with the Chisel mod which addes a BUNCH of variants to blocks

As someone who's used and loved the chisel mod for YEARS, it's great to hear it's compatible.
They're meant to go hand-in-hand, most modpacks I've played use both but Chisel just eats so much more performance than C&B
i love to pair it with a mod called LittleTiles
basically if done right, you can make your chisel and bits creations actually fuctional, for example you can make a chair then with littletiles make it actually sittable, or make a custom chest that actually has storage inside, etc.
@@Binnish pairing it with LittleTiles is also a really good idea because you can make functional blocks like beds and doors

The thing I love about chisels and bits is that you have such an absolute level of control that you can really use it to do anything you want. Want some furniture? you can build a chair out of bits. Want a custom painting? you can just straight up make one now. Want a interior that's different from the exterior but you build is too small to be two blocks thick? just cut your blocks in half and stick two together, or you can just scrape one layer of pixels off your wall and make the project sixteen times cheaper, use diamond and netherite panels for your build, make your friends think you're rich

I found the Pehkui mod helpful with bits and chisels, setting your scale to 0.5-0.25 makes detailing easier.

A thing i found with this mod is that combinating it with some sort of shrinking mod (such as pehkui) can really help since youll have much more controll over where you place stuff since you can get closer to it

I love chisel and bits! My tip for building lean mostly on Minecraft and blocks with chisel and bits as an accent. You did a great job with it for your first time, and did great in avoiding going too much single pixel definition

A few tips
- Always check the controls with new mods (the radial menu makes it so much easier to tell what you're doing)
- Chiseled blocks can be middle clicked to pick up like any other block, and then can be placed in the world (hold shift to place them anywhere, ignoring the block grid)

try little tiles, its like a more advanced chisels and bits bc you can make slopes, smaller peices, even custom blocks like doors and chest

I suggest you also check out Little Tiles mod. It is similar to Chisel and bits but it is way more advanced and you could choose from 3d shapes, build custom working doors, save builds in blueprints etc.

Little Tiles is awesome, although it is currently limited to 1.7 - 1.12 versions, if I remember correctly...

When I use the Chisel and Bits mod, I also usually like to add the Chiseled Me mod to have more precision. The Chiseled Me mod allows you to shrink, and it is quite useful. 👍

That mod is good, but there's one MUCH Better called "Little Tiles" you can make animated blocks, custom chests, you can animate a door or a curtain. Try it out ;)

The great thing about chisels and bits is you can make the walls thin so you can add in an interior that can fit furniture

the amount of what you could do with this is insane! I can litterly tell you one thing, this has far more unlimited possibilities than Minecraft could of ever had!
holy shit, i've never heard of chisels and bits until now. this is game changing
the thing with chisel and bits mod, and any other similar mod like this is that they HEAVILY alter the Minecraft structure and relies on the modding platform. Once Minecraft have a significant upgrade that broke the existing forge, the entire forge and these mods will need to be rewritten, often resulting in world "stuck" in old version since they are not "upgradable". This happened to Chisel and Bits between 1.16 and beyond. About 2 years of work on our server was permanently put into storage as it cannot be updated to higher versions.
Since we moved up to 1.19 with a new start about a year ago, I have made sure that no "heavy" mods, closed source mods, or "unreliable" mods (or by unreliable developer") were chosen into our modpack. This worked very well in term of server maintenance and upgrade scheduling. But its really a big lost that Chisel and Bits didn't make the list, I did enjoyed making builds with it.
I've always wanted to explore maps made with this mod, but I've never found a single one. It's really hard to find amazing modded builds outside of UA-cam videos anyways(besides Create), no one ever uploads the world

in case you didn't know, you can pair Chisels & Bits with the LittleTiles mod and create custom doors, chairs, containers (that you can interact with that have a custom inventory) and a lot of cool stuff lol and it works perfectly with Chisels & Bits

I've used older versions of Chisels and Bits that had a key-bind to open a radial menu with options for the different placement modes.
If you use the mod again, it might be worth checking out.

It's compatible with pretty much every mod that adds blocks too! Even mods that are not meant as a block mod.
My favorite mod. In1.12.2 there's an extension where you can wear custom made clothing from chisels and bits but sadly it's not ported to the latest version.
Most of times it's the restrictions and limitations in life that lead to the most creativity and best art

I recommend trying little tiles, in my opinion it’s a lot better for building because you have a tool that can do lines, walls, etc, and you can pain blocks, export/import structures, and customize each structure allowing to make it a storage, door, rotating object, static, ladders etc. you should try it :)

There used to be a mod similar to this many years ago called the little blocks mod. It stopped getting supported a long time ago so seeing a new equivalent version is nice surprise for sure

As someone who’s been playing modded for nearly about a decade now, I can say for sure you leant FAST. Barely all I can do with Chisels and bits is use it to make signs for my bases, but honestly I might try to just build WITH it now thanks to you, INSTA subbed!

I remember spending many days with this mod just to build a pixel perfect replica of a polish Konstal 105na in an Eastern block city setting. Became my favourite mod ever since.
I love that, instead of trying to practice how to use a brand new mod, you just said “Ah, f*ck it! Steampunk House it is!”

LittleTiles is even better because you can make your builds functional (custom doors, chests, beds, lamps, ...) and place even smaller blocks than one pixel

U could also use the shrinking mod to help u better use chisel and bits mod since building with tiny blocks is different even when u miss place them
a way to solve having trouble with building in tight spaces is to use the mod pehkui as it allows you to change the players size and get into those tighter gaps. great video btw keep it up

Definitely a finicky mod with all the overwhelming options, tools and choices, but it seems once you start to get used to it and all the controls it's almost hard to live without lol
It just adds such a nice level of finer detail to your builds that just isn't something we currently get in vanilla minecraft, which is a shame to me because no matter how creative we're forced to get with the limited blocks and resources, some things just really suck to compromise on at times.
I've seen a video years ago where a guy on a server downloaded a shrink ray mod to better use Chisels and Bits.

Chisel and Bits is such an incredibly powerful mod, but there are two things that drag it down. First is obviously how time intensive it is (honestly using Blender would probably be faster for making the same sorts of things if you don't want to limit yourself to Minecraft as a medium.), and secondly how entirely impractical it is for survival. I'm sure there's probably people who have done great survival builds with it, but there's so much room to screw up, have hard work on little details get destroyed by a stray creeper, etc. Also sadly it doesn't work on trains from the Create Mod, which is pretty unfortunate because realistic interiors and paint schemes would be sweeeeet.
I was fiddling around with this mod when I was playing as a pixeling on a modded world, but I was either duping or deleting bits somehow while trying to figure it out, probably deleting, gave up trying to dig a home out of the dirt with a chisel at that point
That "Thank you for seven hundred by the way" at the end was unexpected, that video was so high quality I didn't even think about it being made by a small youtuber and then i was really surprised you actually were one. Keep going!

Just to notify you, chisels and bits needs to have Chisel bundled with it, otherwise you don't have the ultimate block selection - someone who burned so many hours into sky factory

There is a mod named "LittleTiles", it is compatible with Chisels and Bits! It does pretty much the same, but it allows for even smaller bits, and you can even create animated and functional blocks! :)
Its the best mod to use with C&B(in my opinion)

Don't feel bad. i also find chisels and bits to be confusing, tedious and difficult to control. I think it sucks how much it limits where and how you can place a bit-sized structure you've made (i.e. if you made it on the bottom left part of a block it always will place on the bottom left of a block) and how you can't combine multiple bit types in one block-space (unless I missed how)

So.. who's gonna tell her there's an addon to make custom doors and such? Also another mod to used is the "frame" blocks, that come in many different shapes and sizes but also allow you to use ANY blocks texture. Endportal frame stair? done. Obsidian fence? done. Pure oak wood trapdoor? 100% possible. There's also the regular chisel mod that just has alternate textures for preexisting blocks and they honestly look really good. mixing these few mods together make for an incredibly diverse and at the same time bipolar building experience.. soo many choices, so little time. BUT they do allow for some crazy creativity.

I have been using Chisels & Bits (The original 1.12? version) for years and it is very addicting. I haven't even bothered with newer versions of the game that lack it, because its the one with with most user friendly tools.
It's also compatible with most other block mods. If you get the bits, also consider getting Chisel, as in the mod that adds in tons of variations to blocks. Having access to those textures when using the bits is basically unlimited power.
