Red Army Choir: Cossack's Song.

- Song: Cossack's Song.
Performed by the Red Army Choir.
From the Red Army Choir Definitive Collection, Disc 2.
I take no credit for the creation of the music or the image used in the video, I just chucked the two together for everyone's enjoyment. If you like the music please buy the CD's at www.amazon.co.u... and support Koch Entertainment
For those wondering what the song means:
The song is about a young Cossack who was walking to battle when suddenly he wants to return home. You can hear this by the soft voices of the choir, which are then juxtaposed by the stern, encouraging voices of his peers telling him to go on to battle. Examples: 0:47 is the young Cossack saying how he wants to return home, and 1:00 is his peers telling him to go faster to battle.
Yamik Understanding what the song is about makes it a 100 times better. Thanks bro!
It's such a motivating song. My favorite song of all time.
Thank you
Im suprised that the soviet choir made a song about Cossacks... they didnt like soviets that much in the 20's :D
True but when the germans did reach the Don, contrary to popular belief a lot of Cossacks helped against the Nazis in mounted charges and raids on Germany's rear. Their familiarity with the vast open plains gave them a great advantage
Upon reading the lyrics to this song, I have come to this conclusion: "If your ride is fast enough, you can outrun your sadness."
this is both poetic and common sense :)
The Red Army Choir has befallen in a plane crash in the Black Sea while en route to Syria, a really sad tragedy after the Russian ambassador's assassination in Ankara... :(
BillyQuincy comrades will rest in peace
In communism there is no Heaven, at least get your own ideology right. Your helicopter ride will be quicker then
Communism itself is heaven.
Nick Olien Libertarians go straight to hell along with the greedy oligarchs they brown-nose.
its not the fact that communists dont believe in any existential being i.e god, but more the fact they dont believe that any church etc should hold any power over the people enforcing a hierarchy of fear over the proletariat :)
Translation:
Don Cossack regiments were going through the steppes
One Cossack lowered his head in despair
Oi, one Cossack was missing his home
He dropped the reins on the horses' mane
The fleece on his hat was messy
Thoughts of home were tormenting him
He looked into the distance of the grey steppe
But there was nothing to see
Cossack shook his head
And melancholically spoke to his comrades:
''My young heart is hurting,
oh brothers how much i miss home!''
Flying past the road
Cossack scattered his thoughts and sadness
He raised his dashing horse on its' hind legs
And his sharp saber was whistling in the charge
And so through the steppes,
regiments loud with glory
Were going and singing like nightingales:
''Kovilnaya, my dear little homeland
receive a bow from the Red Horsemen''
(In the original version it's ''from the Tsar's Cossacks'' - Tsarskyh Kazakov was changed into Krasnih Konnikov by the Red Army).

SHINING IN GLORY

Take a bow from the red Cossack!
There were many Cossacks who willingly fought with the Red Army and were highly respected by their comrades.
Yes I know. It's a shame Western Scholars, documentaries and news outlets put most attention towards the Cossacks that switched sides with the Nazi's along with the many different etnic groups inhabiting the vast land of the USSR . The ethnic groups included the Russians, Ukrainians, Estonians, Chechens, Armenians, Tatars, Kalmyks, Manchu's etc.
Even Stalin fell victim to this tragically. The 1944 deportation of many Caucasian, Baltic or Uralic people is the result of this. Even when many people belonging to these ethnic groups and fought in the Red Army were highly decorated.
it is too bad they lost the respect of their countrymen.
And even more cossacks who realized the Soviets were a disease upon russia and instead sided with the White army or the Third reich, and were well respected by the invading Germans. History has many sides to it.
@@thedon9247 ofc siding up with the enemy that wants to decimate your people. "oh yeah lemme just side with the people who will exterminate my folk what could go wrong"
There's no historically accurate basis to the claim that the germans wanted to exterminate the ethnic russians.

The biggest thing I envy in the Russians are their determination, morale, hard work and nationalism for their country. America doesn't see too much of that just liberal this liberal that. Too many pansies here. Obama for sure doesn't help that at all.

The song was written by composer Ivan Dzerzhinsky (1909-1978), and it was originally a duet/chorus from his opera "Virgin Soil Upturned" (Поднятая Целина), after the novel of the same name by Mikhail Sholokhov. Here is the original version: ua-cam.com/video/UG6wrc0KcwE/v-deo.html

I've been thinking about some things about the Cossacks in the past, how they shared a warrior brotherhood and tough love for each other. It's similar to the Mongols of the East and the Vikings of the far North, and I just thought...who would win out of those three? All are fearless, all are brutal warriors who would defend their comrades to the end...but who would triumph?
