TRANSLATION OF THE LYRICS:
Cossack regiments rode the steppe from the Don,
Only one Cossack bowed his head.
Oh, the dashing Cossack missed his home
He dropped the reins on the horse’s mane.
Oh, his curls fluttered in the wind.
He was tormented by thoughts about his home.
Ah, he looked into the blue steppe distance,
But nothing was visible in that distance.
The Cossack shook his forelock head
He told his comrades longingly:
"Oh, my young heart hurts,
Oh, my brothers, I want to go home so much!"
Let the road move fast
Let it dispel the cossack's thoughts and longing.
Oh, he reared a dashing horse
And his sharp saber whistled on a gallop.
And the regiments rode across the steppe
With a loud glory and sang like nightingales.
Our dear native countryside,
Accept a bow from the Red Horsemen!

ORIGINAL LYRICS:

This is a wonderful song and I always loved it. I love this version!
I love how everyone is having fun while singing, they loved being a member of such a wonderful choir
it's real neueslied
Aaaand i see a comment that is 2uears old as the first one in the comment section 😂
Well, they had to be happy. If they weren't, they'd be sent to a labor camp.
@@AkioWasRight any source on that, pal? Because my whole family came from USSR and that’s not true at all. Most people in labor camps were criminals who deserved it and were serving their sentence, not political prisoners. Even during Stalin’s time most inmates were convicted murderers, thieves, rapists, etc.
We were enthusiastic because back then we had a bright future to look forward to. But thanks to Gorbachev it’s gone now.
@@user-fb9ql8bm2e Sure thing, comrade.
This is just WONDERFUL music! There is something so magical about these Russian songs!
Listening this while driving to Berlin makes my trip kinda weird.

Are You from prc?
I've been listening to this song for years, sounds like an outro
1:18 i like the happines of this man
He has extra rations forever
He seems to be one of the few of them who went through ww2 (according to the medals).
The cinematography is epic
The joy of this song unlike anything I've seen before. This song wakes up something in my heart. Wonderful song!
The Red Army chorus choir sends a shiver down my spine every time I hear them. I think they capture our spirit and soul and uplift our confidence in our homelands and our commitment to freedom and honour for all Slavs wherever we find ourselves. To my father I swear allegiance to uphold my faith in our home land and the liberation from slavery. Das Vadanya comrades wish you all success and happiness in a new day of light and reflection. May the Red Army continue the cause for our sacrifice of so many honourable people our grandparents and future generations we carry the eternal flame from the fireside as we share our bread and wine and honour those lost. Russia is a great nation but we need to remain united for our enemies are wealthy and powerful. Our commitment is our bond and honour in love and conflict.
1:18 this guy looks very happy
Best of the best. Why do I always get patriotic and warm feelings listening to Red Army music? Your history, culture, music, songs, dancers are THE VERY BEST in the world. Russia, we want to hear more from you. Your politics may not be the greatest example but you do have so many great scientists, writers, poets, top-sporters, commanders, students and grand mothers :) You should be an example to the world, your history and culture are such a rollercoaster. Greatings from the Netherlands, small stuborn country but lot of us do have passion for that big Russia :)
Arriba Rusia.....!!!urraaaaa!!!
For those wondering what the song means:
The song is about a young Cossack who was walking to battle when suddenly he wants to return home. You can hear this by the soft voices of the choir, which are then juxtaposed by the stern, encouraging voices of his peers telling him to go on to battle. Examples 0:46 is the young Cossack saying how he wants to return home, and 0:58 is his peers telling him to go faster to battle.

Who in his right mind wouldn't want to 'go back home'?

The way the song rises and falls is in rhythm to a horses hoofbeats. What a waltz of battle one could do with a cossack saber to this one.

This song doesn't need close-ups of the singers. They did a damn' good as a choir ...
Itd funny to see some of the instrument sections mouth and sing quietly along

I have a question that may seem strange - did Leonid Kharitonov personally know the composer Ivan Dzerzhinsky? I'm doing some research on his life and music, and thought this might be a good place to ask.
No, I don't think so. Leonid Mikhailovich never mentioned this composer.
@@LHaritonov I see. Thank you for responding, Mikhail Leonidovich!
The red cossacks were a special force who were separated from the corrupt chaff. Regardless of their military heritage and lineage their objective was red vengeance amd red justice.
Слух😂и❤
Türkçe çevirilerde hep “Kazak” ismi geçse de, burada bahsedilen Kazak, Kazakistan’daki Türkî Kazaklarla karıştırılmamalı. Burada bahsedilen Kazaklar, Slav Kazaklarıdır ve tarih boyu savaşçılıklarıyla bilinmişlerdir. Özellikle Ukrayna’yla özdeşleşmiş bir kavramdır.
The first 40s of this video reminds me of Parajanov
The song feels way more shorter than it actually is
Living in a country where things like this are still almost the exclusive territory of the rich, it is both great and a little sad to see the sons of workers making music like this.
