Thank you for showing how to correctly file natural nails. A lot of people don’t know to file one way on the outer edges of the nail and shape towards the free edge. Bravo🎉
Okay so I'm 48, and learning this new skill with Liz has kept me sane during COVID. So thank you so much! If anyone out there is still using tips or dual forms with gel.. do not be afraid of traditional forms and sculpting. You are ready. Liz's way requires so much less filing and you get so much more control over the shape and strength of your nails. I'm still a beginner so I find it helpful to use a firm poly gel to control the first layer on the form (markart) is my favorite so far it kinda "pats" into place like acrylic demos you see with forms. But after that part is done it is prograde builder gel for apex. I would love a lesson on encapsulating while avoiding thickness.
Girl, I absolutely love your videos! You do things step by step and you don’t rush through them. You and Suzie from Nail Career Education are my two favourite, fellow Nail Tech educators...thank you! I’ve been a Nail Tech for years now, and I’m STILL learning! Love all your tips and tricks! Again, thank you! xo
Great to finally see a gel tutorial! I’m self taught because I have Psoriasis of the nails. I found almost all tutorials were based on using acrylic so bit the bullet and taught myself (and bought everything!) to use acrylic with tips. Although I’ve finally mastered ‘the bead’ I’ve been thinking of going back to gel with forms. You can get a super thin hat earl look. You explain everything very clearly, thank you 🙋♀️🇬🇧💅🏻
I must applaud you on the way you’ve broken down this entire journey from the absolute basics slowly progressively building to more advanced techniques. Well organized and we so appreciate these lessons.
I really appreciate what you do on this channel. I am not a nail tech but I do my nails at home and you have taught me so much. I haven't been in one nail salon in my area that uses these techniques.
I love watching your videos and how you break things down. I'm the type of person who wants to know exactly why you do something, not just how to do it. Thank you again Liz. Hope you have a great evening. 💖
15:32 Thank you so much for this video. You addressed the issue I was having with builder gel extensions. They were just coming off as soon as I created the extension or shortly therefore. Either I was going too thick, or I was pulling up instead of down. Also you explained in detail how to blend the gel from my nail to the form for a smooth corner. I love how you spoke slowly and didn’t try to cram too much into this lesson. I will now practice, practice. Looking forward to the next video.
I really appreciate the time you've taken for everyone and everything you've taught us from the first video to this one and future tutorials. You explain everything in such an professional and basic way for everyone of all different levels of experience so that we can all learn easily and understand all the anatomy and what kinds of gel to use for beginners to advanced. I have learnt soo much from your video's and really look forward to each and everyone. Thankyou Liz😁
Awesome thank you!!! 💜💖💜 I learned originally from one of your videos. I watched n paused as I did my 1st set ever! I too am a gel n form lover! Yay we need more hard gel channels on UA-cam who do things properly! I've got loads to learn but am trying!! More "in depth" than most schools are! Thank you for this series! 💜💖💜
I recently started doing my own nails, and I just stumbled upon this channel. You just gained a new subscriber. Your videos are life changing. Thank you!!
Yay, so excited to be at this point. I've used tips for years and have always wanted to extend using forms, but was never quite sure. Thank you so much for doing this in steps.
Thank you for another awesome video, Liz! You are a terrific teacher, and I very much appreciate your taking the time to make videos to help everyone learn important facts and healthy practices. I also prefer forms over tips, and only use tips when there's a single nail break and I need a super-fast repair. Thanks again :-))
Thank you SO much for your videos! I’m just about to start working with gel and I’m learning so much from you, I can’t wait to create beautiful nails like you
Thx hun ! To me the truth is that doing nails properly can't be learned without making those mistakes which show you how to NOT do it again. But if one channel helped me the most it is yours i guess. There are many but i like how you exolain and i LOVE the fact that you are also doing gel. I would love to know WHY!? because all pros have to do both ( or all 3 /polygel).... maybe you tell us why one day. ♡
Idk her reasons but all the acrylic I've used is so hard to file! 💜💖💜 I'm in love with gels too...people though I was crazy saying "it's easier for me than polygel"!! 😂 But I dabble in the polygel... its fun to try new things to me. But oh the variety I can find in hard gels is amazing !! Polygel is trying hard though!
@@nailsofinterest yeah you re right! I love gel but i like polygel too. Acrylic can be fun too but it is just not mine😊. That's what i like on Liz because the most girls do acrylic, right?
@@somecallmeconny yeah, even my friend went back to acrylic on me!!!😂 Lol I found out she wasn't allergic to the acrylic (but an ingredient in the monomer, look at me telling her business, but shes said it all over too😉) to me its pretty but smell gives me a headache! A few good gel channels out there Liz, here, just explains so very well! 💜💖💜 I did my very first set watching one of her videos! 😁
Soo glad you talked about those shortcut products I see videos on UA-cam and Instagram and they make it look so quick and easy and the end result is beautiful but I think to be a pro you need to know how to create nails using forms. I started off using tips but I like forms because you can create them to fit perfectly to the width of your nail and ensure they are all the same length. For some reason with tips my thumb nail was always so much longer, whereas, with forms they are now uniform in width and length because I use the guided lines and s m l. Like you mentioned you can create that beautiful c curve with pinching and even without which makes the nails look nicer and gives them more strength so even if it takes hours I'm determined to perfect my skills using forms lol. Also I found that using the right forms is key there are so many just gotta find the ones that work for you! Another great video thank you!!
I’m an aspiring nail artist and don’t have any experience but I love your channel and you are so thorough and informative, I have subscribed you, hoping to learn more from you. I’ve done 3 types of nails and I’m glad they turned out good :)
I keep my nails pretty short but invariably get breaks at the thumb or index finger that needs protection but also a little length added. I watched a few videos and the first attempt went okay but I did make mistakes. I struggled with the nail form and your video on forms was really informative. Wish I would have seen that first.
Great video once again Liz! I'm going to take my tablet to my nail table and play this video as I attempt the gel extension. I've always done overlays. After watching this video I think one of my problems is I'm trying to make the initial extension perfectly smooth before filing but I see in your video it doesn't have to be? Onward I go 😀
Thanks Liz. Going to do my nails this week, and i did little bit different, so thanks for this points, that you made and i hope my nails will look better. Love ya girl.
I watched your video, I could learn a lot and did myself. And it turned soooo great!! I only tried two times for practicing gel extension, people said it looks so profesional. I wish I could show my output. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 thank you for sharing your instruction.
That pinching part for three C shape was imperative for me. I s struggling with that part. As well as, the initial bead that you lay near the free edge and nail form. THANK YOU!!!!😉😊
Love forms and love gel. I’m still perfecting how to apply forms 😅. Doesn’t seem to matter how many videos I watch I still feel like I struggle. But hopefully I get better with time along with my speed. I’m happy you covered the pinching technique. I had been trying to figure out the best time for pinching gel.

What causes bubbles/holes underneath the extensions? I used the light elegance lexy line builder and right where the extension meets my free edge, it's hollow :( Could it be that I sculpted the extensions too thin? One of my nails cracked and broke off from this and I'm noticing my other nails are starting to do the same thing. Is there a way to fix this without filing them off and starting over?
Great education. Thank you so much! For me, who lives in a small town with nail salons operated by Vietnamese people, this is priceless, since I do my nails myself. I have seen the damage those "technicians" do to people's nails, and I need to learn. Also, this is a great way to educate those who go to salons as customers and should be able to assess the job done on their nails.
This is super helpful! So there is no specific base coat I have to use under hard gel? I can just use soak off base coat that I have? I see a lot of brands selling base coat gels in a pot and a bottle and rubber base coats to use with hard gels. Getting confused!
Hi... Love watching your tutorial... Just wanna ask... They said hydrate the nails first then primer. I tried it, but I found out that the primer was so sticky. In the instructions, it says apply a thin amount and let it air dry. But for how long? I waited for an hour and still sticky... How to apply base coat if it's like that? So I ended up removing it all... I don't like the sticky dirty feel... Please advise. Thank you...
HI Liz, Thank you for the video. I would like your advice to nail techs on how to stand out as a sculpture gel tech in a world of acrylics? we love it, but how do we get our clients to like it as well. I would love if you can put this in another FAQ video. Much love xo
My natural nails are pretty long so I just do gel overlays. Can I use the pinching technique (focusing just on the extended part of the nail, past the fingertip) or can that damage the nail? My middle and ring fingernails are a little wide and I would like to make them a bit narrower if I could! Looking forward to your videos with the next steps :)
You can do it gently. Fingernails are very flexible so they should pinch along with any product on top. Just be gentle on the part that is attached to your finger. Overpinching can cause lifting of the nail and damage to the nail bed. A gentle squeeze for a few seconds is all that is needed.
Is this the new process to lengthen nails instead of adding tips like in the past? I'm trying to figure out how to lengthen some nails that have broken in order to match my other long nails. In the past at the salon then would add a tip, then brush on a clear thick liquid, then dip it a white powder, buff and then proceed with the gel polish. Is this just a different format?
There are NO salons near me that do nail extensions without gluing on tips. Martina from Martina and Simon RUINED me after her video about flying to Japan to get her nails done. They were so beautiful and I’ve been chasing that ever since

What gel do you like the best for building wanting to start doing this in the salon :)
My natural nails are pretty long so I just do gel overlays. Can I use the pinching technique (focusing just on the extended part of the nail, past the fingertip) or can that damage the nail?
