I'm seventy one years old. Having been raised in the pentecostal cult, I remember in second grade. I was in bed at night crying, my mom walked in. Ask me why I was crying.
And I told her that the teacher had told us that we were gonna be doing some. Square dancing at school the next day, and that I was going to be going to hell. The things that people do to their children to indoctrinate them into this cesspool, of self acclaimed religion, it definitely constitutes child abuse.

@steve I’m the same age and I totally relate. My dad was a pastor and we weren’t supposed to dance. I remember my brother used to run the record player to get out of it, my sister went to the library and sinner that I was, I threw my shoe into the ring (the boys grabbed a shoe to pick their partner so we girls would wave our other shoe at our 4th grade boyfriend 🤷🏻‍♀️) and I’d join the square. To my 10 year old mind, I wasn’t dancing and was in PE class.

Your issues with the church after what you think is your right. But many of us grew up non conformist . So, many have better reasons with their faith, than you have had. You went from one extreme to the other. But that has been a problem in the Bible belt mostly. Popular evangelicalism carries many strange assimilations within it. And downright legalistic about it.

I’ve often heard Christians say that during praise and worship, the devil remains inactive, but as soon as the pastor begins preaching, distractions arise. A child might cry, the microphone might malfunction, or someone might act in a way that shifts attention from the message. I find this belief puzzling because Christians also believe that Jesus is present during church services and that Satan and demons tremble at the mention of His name. If this is the case, how could Satan possibly cause distractions in such a setting?

The best thing my parents did for us kids was to expose us to the fellowship and community service aspects of organized religion but allow us to make up our own minds and relationship to spirituality. They saved us from years and decades of fear, guilt, and doubt because we got to observe life for ourselves, and find God through our own experience, or not. I love that they respected us enough to do that. I saw God everywhere in nature, and as an adult realized only a conscious, creative being could have created the universe. It was ridiculously obvious that the god of the Bible - that petty, vengeful disciplinarian, could never have been that creative, or imaginative, or have that much beauty in his nature. The god of the Bible was created in the image of the controlling, authoritarian men who wrote it.

Growing up Christian, it's par for the course to learn about the Devil, his demon pals, and Hell 🔥 And to fear him and his tactics because Christians believe he's after them most of all. Even today, my Christian mom believes Satan is behind Trumpism and that's why there are so many ppl going away from the church, in the end times. She takes everything in the Bible literally. But, truly no one is supposed to question the validity of the fallen angels..like why an all-powerful, all-knowing, all-loving holy God would create an evil being 👿 in the first place 🤔 Remember Lucifer and the other demons were "fallen angels" who used to live in Heaven..a place where believers say it's perfect and without sin..I think for me it takes good mental gymnastics to try and figure it all out! And, boy, you are so right saying that after deconstructing from Evangelicalism the "salvation message" no longer sounds beautiful but really is "wackadoodle"
God sent himself to sacrifice to himself in order to please himself??🤯🤪

They love telling non Christians how to behave while never following their own principles and judging non Christians even though their Bible tells them not to. Being a Christian for them is just belonging to a special club to feel superior to those that are not in it as well as a get out of jail free card to just act however they want and justify it because "they're saved". They love to preach, but they sure hate to practice.

So true! All the talk of Jesus Mighty Ruler of the Universe and all Powers being subjected to Him, was just us whistling past the graveyard. This might sound a little strange, but it's true. I had my big "Aha!" moment by looking at a cat's mouth. I love cats and have had them all my life, and one day I decided that the absolute cutest thing in the entire world is that little upturned curve of a cat's mouth. I actually said out loud "God must have been in a really good mood when he created you guys." That is the realization that broke open the barriers I had to contemplating God. When I started to see that organization of any kind is conscious, it became apparent to me that a super consciousness is behind everything in creation. And it's always been ridiculously obvious that it's not the god of the Bible because that guy is a tyrant, completely devoid of compassion. Who's behind it and in all of it is the one that thought up cats, and everything else you have to have a sense of humor for. I still can't figure out why we were created to have to eat other living things in order to live, but I guess I'll just have to keep it on my list of questions for when the time is right.

There’s no doubt that coincidences like this happen far more than we like to admit as that’s why it’s so easily acceptable religious or not to believe in destiny, in karma, luck.etc. Due to humans inferring from experience situations so perfectly orchestrated that it almost seems meant to be, a blessing, influenced by more than what we can explain.

It can take many years to overcome such deeply embedded fears. I can't presume to know what'll work for you, but I found total relief after 60 years by:
      1. Sharing with good friend(s) who've been thru the same.
      2. Education about OBJECTIVE REALITY -- what we are and WHERE we are in the cosmos (there's NO WAY Earth could the center of godly attention).
      3. Learning just how obviously religion is linked to our long struggle to survive in a harsh, brutal environment.
      4. Unlearning that your "identity" must be based on gender, sexuality, ancestry, geography, religion, politics, possessions and level of hotness. Instead, identifying by your personality, talents and skills, creativity and imagination, originality, level of happiness, quality of relationships, helpfulness.... and a whole host of other, far more fulfilling things than anything religion has to offer, LOL.

An excellent place to start would be the book Proof of Heaven by Eben Alexander. It affected me profoundly. He is a neurosurgeon who almost died from an acute case of bacterial meningitis - his family was told he was brain dead and would never come out of his coma, and then he woke up. What he experienced while his brain was completely shut down points to the reality of consciousness being way beyond us and our thinking brain. I knew someone years ago who had a similar experience and it changed her forever, so I believe people who have had near death experiences. It is not the brain hallucinating, as some think. Consciousness is all connected, it is in all things, and it's way beyond the cruel, narrow dictates that fundamentalist religions have used to mentally and emotionally torture other human beings. Be kinder and more forgiving towards yourself, and please read the book.

For Adam and Eve's sin to curse the ENTIRETY of creation proves the biblical god is neither loving nor just.
To doom particularly the animals with lives of fear and predation for something they had no control over cannot be considered just in ANY kind of context.
Neither is the generation punishment inflicted on humanity due to that first mistake that god knew would happen (if he is actually omniscient, which the bible itself shows NOT to be the case over and over) at a time when first Eve and then Adam didn't even know it was wrong (what fruit were they eating? Oh, yeah....the knowledge of good and evil. They wouldn't have even known it was wrong to disobey god at that point) is neither fair nor just.
If you can moralize that type of justice, then we should still be interning the Japanese because their ancestors had the gall to attack us at Pearl Harbor.

Youre choking. What do you want me to do? The hiemlich maneuver, or pray for you?
Anyone answering truthfully will say the h maneuver.
Anyone being honest with themselves should then ask, what happened to my faith in God? Why would i wish for a human to intervene rather than an all powerful god who hears and answers prayers?
    Those are questions worth pondering.

What I tend to believe is that once we die that’s it we are gone, it just like when we are put under anesthesia, nothing no consciousness not nothing, we are just buried or cremated and gone.

The plan of salvation: God decides that ANY KIND OF sin deserves death. A bit extreme. We flawed humans are far more enlightened than that. But I digress...And that for sin to be forgiven requires a blood sacrifice. Again, a bit extreme. So god sends himself as a sacrifice to himself to satisfy the rules he made himself and then raises himself to return to himself. Huh??? IF you think about this, there WAS no sacrifice. Why? Because god raised Jesus. Something must be lost to be a sacrifice. Jesus didn't lose anything. He had a bad weekend. If you immediately get back what you lost (3 days in the span of eternity is pretty immediate) then how can it be claimed that a sacrifice occurred? Now if Jesus had STAYED dead, then yes, THAT could be considered a sacrifice. But as the story is told, nope. Just convoluted nonsense to the max.

Evil does not exist as an independent, tangible entity. Rather, 'evil' is a label we assign to actions, behaviors, or events that we perceive as morally wrong or harmful. It’s important to distinguish between the concept of evil as a moral judgment and the idea of evil as a concrete object or force.
To illustrate, consider the concept of football. Football is not a physical object, but an activity or system with rules and structures. It’s a social construct that exists because we agree upon it and participate in it. In a similar way, 'evil' exists not as a thing in itself but as a judgment we apply to actions that conflict with ethical principles or cause unnecessary harm.
So, while we can describe certain actions or behaviors as 'evil,' this does not imply that 'evil' is a physical entity, but rather a descriptor for human behavior or decisions that are seen as morally reprehensible. The idea of evil, much like football, only exists within the context of human thought, ethics, and social agreements.

A very interesting video. I always wonder why every Christian fears the devil. You believe in God and his son. They are supposed to be stronger than the devil. But yet the devil is on par with God when the devil is supposed to be his servant. It's hilarious. About believing in spirits and life after death. I practice Shinto and Zen Buddhism as well as Wicca. I respect your beliefs but someday you might encounter something supernatural. It's something universal in every culture. Call it mythology if you like. A fantasy. But for some just as beings dwell in the physical world. There are things such as bacteria that exist but are not seen. So does the supernatural. Well that's my view. But yeah I don't believe those who are Christians shouldn't be afraid of the devil or put him or her in par or equal to their God. Otherwise by doing that, you are actually worshipping the devil. Otherwise Gnosticism is right there is an evil Deity which wants to enslave humanity.
