I watched the other with the replacement shoe. Obviously works good now. Not that it matters but is the band reversible and has two holes one end one hole the other and someone installed it backwards? @@ebinmaine
@lovesloudcars This particular type isn't reversible. The other end is a bare band strip with 2 holes for bolts. There are different brake linkages for Manual and Automatic transmissions over the years of Wheelhorse production. That rod hole connection varies side to side as well... or both as on the replacement band.
I've had that happen to mine. You should be able to straighten it out. It's a pretty poor design geometry wise. I bet the pad is worn weird by now and it will do it again if you don't replace the pad. I bet if you bent the rod a little bit it would improve the geometry and possibly prevent it from happening again. Not like you really need brakes on a hydro though...
Agreed on the shoe lining replacement. Good point and I hadn't thought of it. I have some here and I'll do just that. This is for my parents to use so I'd like it to be fully functional. Thanks!
@@Wheel_Horse appreciate you taking the time to look. Did you happen to notice if the single hole on your shoe was closer to the transmission? Or is it further away like mine ? I can see where the angle of push could make a difference.
@@ebinmaine On the outside, just like yours. On the other end of the band, where it's 'sandwiched' in between the square backing plate and the bracket, there is some adjustment for the 'angle of the dangle'. Perhaps that's also caddy wompus? I usually install mine with just a wee bit of bias toward the transmisssion to counter the offset a little bit. Check that out... maybe those two bolts are loose? Or whomever installed the band didn't square it up when they tightened them?
Strange. I certainly don't have the answer. Seems like there should be some bracket to keep it from doing that.
Agreed. I'll keep ya posted.

@@ebinmaine Maynard may be right, but both of my 1980s have got the 'one-holer' same as yours. Yeah, as a parking brake it does come in very handy!

@@Wheel_Horse excellent. Thank you.
