    That's a neat find. Here in the Southeast, a roadbed like that wouldn't have remained for 120 years without maintenance.

    This lets you find all kinds of old routes. The oldest (shown on 1900 maps or earlier) were graded for animals and people but not automobiles. These are longer but easier, which is nice if fast elevation gain is an issue for you.

    Great info Thanks! I've been wanting to make my own overnite sub loop of a backcountry trail loop in my area and had done the basic sat map investigation but your info might just be the ticket to finding the perfect route.

    Excellent video! Do you think there is a way to turn on some opacity or some layers in GAIA GPS to discover more camp spots? I find that All Trails and GAIA GPS apps do not show all camping spots. If I could discover more possible camping spots, it would be extremely helpful.
