    which head unit would you recommend for the 9-5 NG today? Is the PX5 still the best choice?

    Please let us know what screen size is that? I'm a bit confused, some insignia A Android units are described as 8``, some as 7``, and some as 9 on Aliexpress.

    In my 2011 aero with green screen, when I press CONFIG I have options coming on for Vehicle settings ( program light, honk, parking sensor features etc) as well as enable disable different modes in Sport mode, climate and comfort features etc. those are selectable with the center knob and clickable with the center SELECT button. Do these work after the swap? thank you for your fantastic videos!

    Hello. Please I need your assistance. I have GMC Yokun, Denali 2013 and tried to install aftermarket screen. But store told me that no screen is suitable for such a car, because the plugs are not compatable ( size) different. And must cut and join wires manually. Which I consider not safe. Do your good self have a solution. Please 🙏

      @SaabUnleashed  3 роки тому

      So the comfort settings are not accessible any more, but in my opinion they were pointless. Sport mode is another thing entirely. Having never owned a Turbo 6, I'm not aware of how Sport mode is activated. If sport mode is ONLY accessible through the nav unit, it would be a sin to change out the unit for an Android unit. I assume that sport mode is an automatic transmission car function

    Excellent video on the PX5. I am ready to pull the trigger, though I am going to a car radio specialist in business for 40 years already to do the install for me. It all looks so good. ONe thing I am unclear on however, is where the system is getting the internet connection from? Are you plugging in an IPhone to the USB port for that or ? Also, did you use the PX5 antenna for the radio and GPS, ,or how does that work?

    • @SaabUnleashed
      @SaabUnleashed  3 роки тому

      I have a USB 4G WiFi modem in the centre console, the head unit connects to that to connect. It uses the stock 9-5 antenna for radio

      @@SaabUnleashed Thanks for the clarification. I was thinking about using the ApplePie Mini Dongle which supports a data SIM card for Internet. Does the PX5 have internal GPS, or does it hook up to the Saab GPS antenna? [sorry for so many questions, I am trying to avoid mistakes based on assumptions I could be making]

      @@SaabUnleashed Thanks for the info. That's great if it's all in one set then. So accordding to what You're saying, I'd need to take the green radio out, connect px5/6 unit, mount the screen to its place and voila. The only thing that won't work are the radio buttons, am I missing something? Are there any downsides? I also planned to install bc innovate Vline unit, but it operates on the original LCD panel (which I don't have), and the price is much higher too, so if the android panel does its job, it seems to be a much better solution.

    Nice job, I bought the unit from AliExpress and it's sat in a box as I get up the necessary bottle to undertake the work. Would be interested to know how hard it is to fit the rear camera, does that come in the standard box, I haven't checked. Did you have to cut off lots of plastic behind to fit everything, I've heard that you do have to. Cheers, Steve in Bristol

      For the reverse cam you need to release the light bar as the cable for the cam will go through the same hole as the light bar wires. Then I just sanded a tiny round hole off the inner edge of the botton of the light bar to allow the wire to fit between the light bar and the metal car. The cam is then screwed to the bottom of the light bar

    So why do the buttons stop working ?

    • @SaabUnleashed
      @SaabUnleashed  2 роки тому

      Because the head unit was designed for the Opel Insigina and whilst most of the GM CANbus network is identical with the 9-5NG (along with the rest of the car) the buttons on the dash are not the same as the insignia. As a result, they don't work as the canbus decoder does not recognise button pushes from this panel, so you cannot program the buttons for features.

      The unit in this video is Android.
      Android Auto is software that offers remote access to your Android phone. That means that you plug your phone in (or connect it wirelessly on some head units) and the compatible navigation and music apps installed on your phone will be made available on the head unit.
