Brilliant. I have been looking for good tutorial, on this subject, for ages. And this one is fantastic; please keep them coming, and I for one will be looking forward to them.
"if you read this you're not paying enough attention" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! But I stopped the video to read this, ok? you're awesome, Rene! Thanks for this!!
Do you think this type of construction line vehicle sketching is being replaced by 3d underlay/paint overs? Esp if one is able to do it just as quickly?
More and more, absolutely. Especially the more complex construction techniques are becoming obsolete. the more basic ones that i showin this video though are still very useful because you need to know them to overpaint a 3D render properly and elaborate on the 3D base.
For all the sketches and thumb nails that you showed, are all based from the references that you provided in the pdf file? By the way i just got a lot from the vid. Hope to see more from you Thank you!
I enjoyed this video very much Sir, and got a lot out of it thank you very much, and I look forward to seeing more of your work and video's all the best to you Lou
Hi, Your video is very inspiring to me. Can you please tell us more about how did you set up your photoshop brush? especially I notice that you have a "Clean linework" preset. The brush is so clean and really good line quality. Where can I learn/get the preset? Thanks!
Hi, thank you for your video. I'm working with Scott's books myself at the moment. Ive got two questions if you don't mind first one is you mentioned 35 minutes interview video a program have you got a link for it. Secondly I'm really stuck on page 79 placing ellipsis on slope surfaces any suggestions would be great. Thanks again J
Thank you very much for teaching. The video is pretty good for my foundation construction. Hope you can teach more basic skills, like how to apply perspective in complex form, animal, environment or human. How to set up light and shadow in complex forms. How to paint in photoshop.
What is the settings for your brush to get that line quality? I always get shaky lines when I try and draw a finished line zoomed out from the tablet sensitivity. How do you keep yourself from drawing shaky lines zoomed out?
+Rene Aigner hello, from the books that you have in the link, you advice to read and practice first the- Norling: ‘Perspective made easy‘ or Scott Robertson’s ‘How to Draw‘ ? Cheers
Nice video Rene! Congrats for your great improvement I´m starting from zero learning from those books and videos by Scott Roberston. It is great finding people like you! Cheers
He mentions the "Carapace" program at 35:24, and he links to it in the 'epicgames' link but it no longer works. I managed to find it here though. www.florianhaeckh.com/blog/carapace www.deviantart.com/refaal/journal/Free-perspective-helper-software-Carapace-362549079 It works fine.
Great vid. thank you. So funny that when you are talking about how bad your old drawings are, I see drawings that look pretty good! Shows where I'm starting from haha.
kannst du ein architektur tutorial machen? so ein video auf was man schauen muss um ein gutes design zu bekommen so als Inspiration (wenn das irgendwie sinn macht?)
Btw, what do you think of drawabox.com/ ?? The site doesn't work right now so I can't link the exact page I mean, but it's under "Lessons", so please check that out and tell me what you think about it, if you don't mind! Thanks for this.
I remember when I first went to grammar school, my technical drawing was criticised by the metal-work teacher. How much training did we get exactly in technical drawing ? None. The man was an arse.
Hahaha if you read this you're not paying enough attention.. That's just awesome! Thanks for the vid btw, om around 11'00 and I think it's really helpful!
Sehr tolles video =) Bei 41 minuten hättest du auch einfach die sichtbarkeit von ebene 1 auf 50% stellen können. Damit sparst du dir das layer erstellen und füllen (vom weißen layer).
Hey man, I like the video a lot, do you plan on making the rest of the series or this dead now? D: Hope you continue this, I like the idea of a series about how to learn the fundamentals very much!
+Christopher Phoenix Chris lookup Scott Robertson. He has a youtube channel and a few very good books that teaches all of this stuff. Rene actually states this at about 17mins in. You must have jumped past it. ;)
Jaysun Spinks No, I watch Scott Robertson all the time, ah ha ha ha. I just liked the concept of this particular series. I was hoping there might be more vids after this that talk about the other fundamentals to study and list good resources on them. :) Thanks anyway though!
Jaysun Spinks LOL, it is hard to be interested in drawing and concept art and not run across Scott Robertson. His channel is almost as high profile as FZDschool. XD
Hi there! "Form" refers to the threedimensional object, "shape" is what that object looks like on a two-dimensional plane (such as a screen or on paper). A sphere (form) will look like a circle (shape) when photographed or drawn, for instance. Form is important when constructing, since you want to think about its threedimensional properties and how ithe object behaves in space, shape is what you should think about when you're designing forms or compositions. Hope that helps.
I made this in 2013, thought I'd get better first before putting up a second one, now I'm so busy with work I get hardly any personal stuff done, let alone a youtube channel. It is definetely very high on my personal wish list of things I want to do when I get some time on my hands. Even have several half-done Adobe Premiere projects lying around with snippets of videos of tutorials/ tips and stuff like that. Would really like to pick things up where I left them 7 years ago :D
the best starting video for any new artist on the internet. this and andrew loomis will build solid foundatins
"Don't go around buying a Cintiq." Oh, it's much too late! Fantastic resources Rene - of really immense help to me as a junior artist.
subbed right after your intro, literally exactly what i have been looking for

Am really enjoying this video. Will always comeback to it
What happened to this series
You Sir are being too modest, this is great work shame you stopped at 1 episode of these.
Superb start and a great concept on how to present your stuff, really fills a gap! I will be watching!
Brilliant.
I have been looking for good tutorial, on this subject, for ages.
And this one is fantastic; please keep them coming, and I for one will be looking forward to them.
Oh man, I really wish there was a part 2

You sound positively English! Great video, always inspired by your dedication and insight. Dave (MacLeod)

Liked before watching, knew it would be great!
More videos! This is great man.
+Rene Aigner hello, from the books that you have in the link, you advice to read and practice first the- Norling: ‘Perspective made easy‘ or Scott Robertson’s ‘How to Draw‘ ?
Cheers
Hi there, read Norling first, he covers the absolut basics while Robertson gets really advanced really quick.
Rene Aigner thank you, appreciated.
Subbed. Thanks for the vid. Would love to see one on the architectural technique that you mentioned.
wow very helpful, thank you, ive been looking all over for a good way to start learning perspective and form building!
Nice video Rene! Congrats for your great improvement I´m starting from zero learning from those books and videos by Scott Roberston. It is great finding people like you! Cheers
kommst du eigendlich aus deutschland? dein englisch ist extrem gut!

it doesn't look like the site works anymore, but they're archived here: web.archive.org/web/20170409102633/forums.sijun.com/viewtopic.php?p=272300

Thank you so much for this video.
thank you so much for this!!! very generous
I'm still waiting for the sequel :)
This is one of the most helpful art tutorials on youtube, although your obsession with Scott Robertson is a little over the top :)
Scott Robertson is kind of a big deal.
trooperjoe73 I am aware. I know who he is, and I never said he wasn't. It's just that he mentions him like every 5 seconds.
Izaak Rodriguez The Scott Robertson comment is ridiculous..Your young age is showing.
Michael A Why is it ridiculous?
Izaak Rodriguez Scott Robertson is like a godfather of perspective in modern times lol
Highly appreciated!
kannst du ein architektur tutorial machen? so ein video auf was man schauen muss um ein gutes design zu bekommen so als Inspiration (wenn das irgendwie sinn macht?)
