The amount of uneducated people in the comment section worries me. No one has actually read the UA-cam hero program official rules... users rank up based on legitimate reports made. You make reports on things that have broken Community Guidelines... like it always has been, and you don't get points unless your report actually has been found to break community guidelines. This program is amazing, it means social justice warriors and stupid children who report things they don't like are no longer going to take down channels. It means trusted community members who have proven to actually make legitimate reports in the past are going to rank up, if you report a video for a stupid reason, you get kicked out of the program or get deducted points. Just noticed that UA-cam changed the wording from "report negative content" to "report inappropriate videos accurately." So they see that everyone hates this, but STILL try and move forward with it, even going as to change the wording of the video.
"Any abuse of the point system, the Program, or other violative behavior, may reduce the points accrued in your program account and/or restrict or prohibit any aspect of your participation in the Program." Flagging videos falsely isn't rewarded. It says "if you flag an inappropriate video accurately," then you are rewarded points. Report brigading like that would not be rewarded, but punished. I mean, the other stuff like rewarding people for writing captions or helping people on forums seems like the basic karma system you see tons of websites using nowadays. You should boycott youtube. Get like 20 "big" youtubers and launch your own site together where you can release your own content. If there's enough of you with enough subscribers, you're sure to get enough pressure going to make a switch. I think it's very welcome across a lot of different youtube-communities.
Servers are very, VERY EXPENSIVE. Upkeep of those servers, even more so. Another thing is they have to make a new format, since UA-cam could sue them for copying or something (prob not true but you never know.) Unless there are some investors interested, it'd probably never happen.

The amount of uneducated people in the comment section worries me. No one has actually read the UA-cam hero program official rules... users rank up based on legitimate reports made. You make reports on things that have broken Community Guidelines... like it always has been, and you don't get points unless your report actually has been found to break community guidelines. This program is amazing, it means social justice warriors and stupid children who report things they don't like are no longer going to take down channels. It means trusted community members who have proven to actually make legitimate reports in the past are going to rank up, if you report a video for a stupid reason, you get kicked out of the program or get deducted points. Seriously, shame on Ethan for making a video on this and not even actually reading the official rules

Just noticed that UA-cam changed the wording from "report negative content" to "report inappropriate videos accurately." So they see that everyone hates this, but STILL try and move forward with it, even going as to change the wording of the video.
How did they manage to edit that?

Flagging videos falsely isn't rewarded. It says "if you flag an inappropriate video accurately," then you are rewarded points. Report brigading like that would not be rewarded, but punished. I mean, the other stuff like rewarding people for writing captions or helping people on forums seems like the basic karma system you see tons of websites using nowadays.

You should boycott youtube. Get like 20 "big" youtubers and launch your own site together where you can release your own content. If there's enough of you with enough subscribers, you're sure to get enough pressure going to make a switch. I think it's very welcome across a lot of different youtube-communities.
Servers are very, VERY EXPENSIVE. Upkeep of those servers, even more so. Another thing is they have to make a new format, since UA-cam could sue them for copying or something (prob not true but you never know.) Unless there are some investors interested, it'd probably never happen.
