Thanks Juan for bike reviews. Just the kind of guy I take advice from, multi-sport multiple talents. I'm trying to find a street legal dirt bike for a 5'3" rider and been through several bikes that just don't perform well where we ride. So maybe a used 250 even though I have an extra large bore EXC in the garage already... Seeing the comments about Beta, I have to see if they truly were street legal in that small of displacement bike. Any advice from comments is welcome.
4:32 Lithium Ion Battery - It's about time! Best thing I've ever done was get one of those batteries. My bike sat for almost 2 years with No trickle charger and it started right up!
Wow Juan ,what a great video on the KTM 250 EXC-F . You really know how to cover in great detail . Wished I had the opportunity as a kid to learn how to ride a dirt bike. Something I always wanted but never got the chance at it. As an adult ,I see many bikes and still wished I could ride some trails on one! Thanks for sharing.
i really want the 500 so i dont have to rev it up to get power but i kinda want something lighter. i know its not that much lighter but the smaller engine is supposed to feel lighter. im coming off of an 09 honda crf450x and its awesome i just want something newer. any suggestions? i usually just trail ride and climb hills. i lug my 450 a lot too can the 350 lug well? im also 6'1 and 215 lbs without gear, water, tools. any help is appreciated
Thanks for a really good presentation and summary of the 2017 KTM 250 here. Last year I bought the 2022 EXCF 350 which I notice still is very similar to the 2017 model. You're right about those wheels needing balancing, I rode my KTM on the highway home and at higher speeds it really starts vibrating due to those rimlocks. You mention you've owned your 350 for a while, so I became curious about your other clips on your channel. You seem to cover mostly aviation however, there are no other videos about motorcycles or trailriding, which made me very sad. I'd like very much to see, and listen to your experience with your KTM 350, if you would please do something about that. Then again I'm quite interested in aviation as well so you still have a new subscriber.
Pretty sure the Husky FE250 is available now, a few minor differences ...but essentially the same bike. Still like the KTM better though, even though Graham Jarvis (on a Husky) is right up there with Jesus and Whiskey in my book! Thanks for the review!
Thanks for the review. I'm looking into getting a dual sport. Just wondering how the 250 is on the road, does it have enough power for the high-way or are you hi revving it all the time? I'm 160lbs, 5 9". Also, what is the insurance like for a dual sport in Canada, let's say 6-8 months insured over summer months.
Sardonic1981 well the tires don't come balanced due to the rim locks so when you hit 60mph you notice a vibration I got my 250 up to 75mph doesn't feel safe lol I haven't taken mine on the freeway yet I'm gonna get rid of the garbage exhaust and better rims and street tires
backwoodsbadgerqfmx You install street tires on your 250. Super Moto style. How does it ride now? I wonder if they have a Enduro 40% and 60% street tires. so I can still take it off road and feel like solid on street also. I ride both but street slightly more than dirt.
i am looking for a small adventure bike.i was looking at the cb500x or the ktm adventure 390 .i am a shorter rider, and just getting back into riding.what do you think?
Things are looking up in the market place for smaller, more reasonable sized adventure bikes...I'd stay tuned and watch what comes up next soon, and in the meantime buy an inexpensive used dirt bike for fun and off road riding experience....
If I were you, I’d buy something like a TW200 to start with and see which direction your riding is going to go. Then sell the TW for what you paid and buy what fits your riding style.
Nice review. Nice to see KTM still calls them "race ready". I bought the 450excr in 2008 and they are not race ready. Heck KTM didn't offer a skid plate for a year after I bought mine. I ended up fabricating one from a cr250 aftermarket skid plate. Re-gear, re-jet or program, turn signals haven't changed a bit and the first lap around the block the signals melted on one side. I actually liked the 08 mirrors and they lasted a long time. The new ones look lame. It took about 4K to get mine "race ready". The front end geometry was magic and it was the most stuck to the dirt front wheel ever. I thought it was the tire but another brand of tire made it better. Don't get me wrong they are great bikes and I sold mine because California is a rip off owning a street legal bike. Went back to green sticker. It's cheaper to take the ticket then pay license and insurance all year around. Oh forgot they still have the 1950's front headlight that a candle would be better. I converted to negative ground so the headlight would stay on with the engine off and went to a Baja Designs headlight. Those side covers probably grip your boot better too.
Juan that was a great review, I ride forest hill and that type of trails on an XR400R and getting up there in age (48), only 150lbs as well. Would you recommend the 250xcf for my weight over the 350xcf? I don't care about red/green sticker. I do wish KTM had a backup kicker on exc and xc bikes, seems almost a safety issue 50 miles out in a ravine when that lithium ion battery decides it won't put out. Thanks in advance, Rocky
Melissa Sapiane Thanks! I would definitely consider it...see also the KTM 150 2 stroke trail bike for the most lightweight (200lb) bike of the entire line up...
Use to have an apprilia «pegaso» with a 125 cc rotax engine and this «race ready» Seems efficiently «multiple-usable» to be intresting enought . Compact-sized and it's hope silent enough to see bits of a wild .
you always surprise me with the music you choose to segway... if you know a girl from Grass Valley named Darcy that looks like Rachel Ray, tell her i said hey... can't remember her married name... she used to run the video shop in town...
blancolirio Let me rephrase: Beta? Looking like street legal US models available this year. Someone who knows more detail please chime in. Thank you for all the great videos. The cb500x videos especially.

I'm glad to see the 250's making a comeback, corse I'm a old guy, don't ride like the young bucks today, great video!
Just bought one today from that same dealership. I’ve watched this video at least 3 times lol.

Yes, I had to learn the hard way, my folks HATED motorcycles...I think it's safer to teach em right.
Excellent excellent review--intro Juan. I might just sell my 2014 200.. Small bikes are the way to go..
Great review. Better info than others .
another great video, keep it going.

If I'm not mistaken they also came out with the 450 EXC 2017 six days dual sport!
Jesse James That's the rumor I'm hearing too....haven't seen it yet...

Thanks, I’d like to do that too!
There’s a whole series of old videos on this channel regarding the Tour if Idaho riding the KTM350EXCF.
I wonder does it have more torque then a 2019 honda 250 street legal
Thanks for also mentioning the music!
Nice review Man.. I was surprised to see TKC80'S on there. How strong does the sub frame look. Enough to pack some weight?
KTM must get truck load tire deals...sub frame plenty strong for some weight. I keep it down to 25-30 pounds with Giant Loop Coyote bag.
Good work KTM

How are these on the road? I have a 45 min back road cruise to my trails
fun on a short twisty hop. Needs a plate.
Nice review, cheers. 👍

todd birge It's a great little adventure bike once modded with the Rally Raid kit (s)

Show us more of that blue bike in the lot. Is that a VanVan?
Here ya go Albert!...ua-cam.com/video/WwLEIfi4Y5I/v-deo.html
I can't believe KTM removed the back up kick starter on the EXC models.... WTF?!?!

For a street legal bike you'll won't find another manufacturer that is more 'Race Ready' than KTM...well maybe Husqvarna lol.

I just bought a 250excf to add to my all KTM stable
50-0 I just might be interested in that 250 enough to buy it
kw / hp ???
but can i throw some warp 9 supermoto tires on it? that's the question.
What about Beta? After riding KTM for years I made the switch and I have gotta say, they are a better bike.
you always surprise me with the music you choose to segway... if you know a girl from Grass Valley named Darcy that looks like Rachel Ray, tell her i said hey... can't remember her married name... she used to run the video shop in town...
music selection is one of the funnest parts of editing....
It's a cute little thingNot fast enough
Race Ready? Really? How can you say that?
Steven Schiff because it's MY channel...LOL!
