Everyone wants an Enchanted Piano. "Haunted" just felt right. Right?
Doing that is fun and a really nice atmosphere, but there's a certain level of out of tune where it loses its charm, and this piano was far beyond that level

I mean, I'm a complete buffoon when it comes to anything music... but when it comes to say tuning a guitar, I can do an "ok" job with digital tuning tools. A piano is probably way more difficult, but I can see where the idea might come from to try. 🤷♂️

I’ve heard worse. The piano my mom had was over 80 years old and hadn’t been tuned in like 40 years. We never played it so it ended up being taken apart and thrown away. I miss it. It wasn’t all that flashy as just a standard upright practice piano but the stories of my mom playing it after work every night always made me so happy. I wish we could have kept it
I agree in a lot of cases because it adds a different feel to the music which can sound quite nice but this piano was a bit too out of tune for my liking

the fact that you can tell which song is happening just from the vague pitch contour and rhythm that you play is testament to how important rhythm is to our sense of uniqueness and how we experience music. I think it's not talked about a lot. We talk about pitches and chords and as a music student we spend classes talking about chords and how to go from one pitch to the next in a nice way but very seldom do we look super deeply into rhythm and what makes it effective, we do not often consider rhythm as intensely a part of music theory. But it's almost more important than pitch a lot of the time

I laid down on the couch like a psychiatrist office and closed my eyes and listened to him tuning it while he asked me about my life and Gave me relationship advice. You could tell that he had a lot of fun experience making conversation for his job because he basically put me in a trance. Best afternoon ever.

The out of tune sounds honestly gorgeous in a good way, I absolutely love out of tune pianos because it has a raw, magical, and beautiful feel to it. It sounds super nice like that, sometimes I get kind of mad when people tune it all the way back up to standard worldwide tune 440-442 HZ.

Crazy, but the most out of tune piano ever is at my friend's house. Half the keys don't work, and one of the ones that does sounds like a bell. They called a tuner and he told them to get a new piano.
I like the before. It's like you're exploring an old house that's falling apart, as you search it you find children's toys and old traces of a happy family even though it's old and there hasn't been anyone living there in years it has history and was loved and a place people called home once.

Look up early recordings of The Residents, specifically Rest Aria and The Spotted Pinto Bean. Lots of off-kilter instrumentals that belong in a dreamland

Thank you for showing that a very out of tune piano may be tuned up. I am about to try to tune up the local public piano. Middle C sounds like A3. Other keys yield similarly flat intervals, all around a minor third. I will try to tune the thing to itself first, then try to work it up to A440. I should have it right by September.
