I’m on the Cotswolds and I agree, I think we got away it quite lightly compared to some parts of the country. One tree came down on the through road, but the farmer was out there clearing it all away really quickly. I think Sunday was our worst day, heavier rain and the wind went went round to the north which hammered the front of the house pretty hard. Haven’t had much rain since then.
More roof is better than concrete. Could you put a lean too off the big barn the tree team use for equipment? Along the yard side. Shallow wide sheds are better for kit than deep narrow sheds as the thing you want is always at the back.

Beautiful rams of Sam, the vet. Cheeky too, particularly Big Horn on your right. No flies on you, Farmer P. Busy chatting away to us and fast on the draw to grab ram's headgear before he could butt you 😱😃
Could you not clean up the area down the side of your main shed/workshop (That second old cabin next to holy's kitchen running down to where the bale trailer is stored) and add a lean to roof down the length of the building. This would give you a place for machinery to be put under a roof without taking up potential cattle expansion space?
@@HughzieTube A nice idea, but financially impractical I’m afraid. Not a fan of woodchip but it works really well for your setup. So if it's New Barn extension or concrete I think the Barn is a better option. You already said you could use 50% more space so ticks a lot of boxes (except Mrs. P kitchen - think I have an old Primus if it helps 😹😹😹)
Although it would be nice to concrete the yards you've gone all these years without it, personally I would chalk them if you can get chalk in Gloucestershire we can get it pretty easy and cheaply in Sussex, if you do concrete the yards you will have the problem of slurry to deal with
