Depends on what you want out of an E. I'll take my 69 S2s seats anyday over the non-adjustable earlier models. and covered headlights? I'll pass on that as well. Jaguar NEEDED to be able to sell Es to the US market and had to make the required changes to the sidelights and bumpers. That said, ANY E is a treasure to behold and drive.
If you have an E with covered headlights, they do look amazing, but the practicality and safety is that they are NOT a good idea. Take an old Lucas wimpy headlight and put it behind another lens that is often occluded. BUT, how often do we drive a 50+ year old car in the dark?

It was a mind-bogglingly stupid idea to remove the headlight covers (I'm referring to the US regulators not Jaguar).
