2:42 is a singletree, to connect the mule with the plow. The hooks on the sides are attached to traces that go to the mule's collar, and the single ring in the center hooks to the clevis on the plow's front.
@@crowznest438 You did a pretty good job of explaining it. There's also what's called a double tree, for pulling a bigger implement such as a hay rake or mowing machine that requires two mules or horses.

Next time you walk around kind of Crouch down and take a look at the ground if you see indentations kind of dents in the ground those are unmarked Graves😞
