The problem with any OLD house is often MOLD, which can make you deadly ill. It can go unnoticed to the naked eye in cielings, walls, & floors. I learned the hard way, & mold doesn't just leave the body! It saturates your lungs & bloodstream causing Asthma in you & all of your pets, & multiple unexplained side effects of skin rashes, migraines, fungal infections, nueropathy, nausea, & severe vertigo. It can all happen rapidly with heavy unseen exposure.
The problem with historical homes if the do not have infestations is an OVER ACTIVE HISTORICAL COMMITTEE. These people are often insufferable in the way they restrict "improvements" (Such as modern plumbing and electricity). Imagine being in the south and legally CANNOT air condition the home either centrally or through window units because they are NOT ORIGINAL. I had one house where they refused to allow Insulated windows. That house also had to have an original style wood shakes on the roof - the asphalt rood had to be removed. They go out of their way to limit colors and especially those that can be seen through a window. AND REMEMBER most of these OLDER HOMES will need lead paint remediation. I was unable to do little things like update faucets or toilets. Some of these houses were lit by gas - and have had electricity added on the surface in conduits. You may or may not have to remove that. (And most of these houses were built BEFORE modern circuit breaker boards - and YOU may not be able to update yours from fuses!
I know a few people who go houses for free, they just had to move. The Selma house would be a great one to work on. Merry Christmas & Keep Orange Crushing It!
Some of the homes that are categorized as Victorian are actually Georgian architecture. Perhaps they were built during the Victorian era, but the architecture style is definitely Georgian.
I wonder if the house in Selma Alabama made it through the tornado there today. It was sad to see some of the damage there. It was ironic that I watched this video for the first time and I almost couldn’t believe that it was from there.
At one time didn't HGTV help to rennovate homes like this. This list could easily be their next season of fixers with teams across the country consisting of skilled period craftsman. I'm sure tax credits or other federal or state funding could be acquired to do the work on these. Also wouldn't a lot of companies want to contribute the furnishings and building materials as well as exterior landscape design just for the advertising.
Why not repair the Henderson-Barnes Home and update the exterior to fit the proposed development and make it a Welcome Center and event venue for the complex.
It's not just the taxes but you are correct that taxes can play a big part. Depending where you move the house to, it may still have restrictions to be 'historic'. This means windows must be rebuilt or constructed like they were years ago, and the same with exterior doors and siding. If you are not going to do it yourself then you must find a quality handyman who knows this arena well.
Ppl in my family look at me crazy when I can see treasure in what they call trash. These homes are beautiful to me.. if they was trash why would they s
hi Kyle nice video good to hear about the history of the place, s you share hope to see more videos you guys be safe out there 🙏🙏 merry Xmas ❤️ you guys
The house you show at the 7:40 mark is a bungalow, NOT a “ranch style” home. Do you know what the design features of a ranch style home??? A ranch-style house is noted for its long, close-to-the-ground profile, and wide open layout, low pitched roofs and broad, elongated eaves. The FUNCTION to the FORM of a ranch style home ‘s low pitched and broad roof design serves a constructive purpose: When the hotter summer sun sits high in the sky, this roof shadows the windows, blocks the sun, and helps keep the house cooler. In the winter, when the sun is lower in the sky, the ranch style roof design captures the sunlight under the eaves and into the windows, helping keep this home warmer in the colder months.
All my houses we own are. Not haunted I've Ben living in one for 23 years no problem s you can't duplicate an older &me with woodw new houses are made of garbage meterals ask a builder or handyman
Unfortunately, they're okay for a home but, it's not in my country of Canada. Beautiful designs just unfortunate that it's not in Canada. Then again, I might be taking the chance to bring hauntings with the house to the new place...😳😏😉 Keep up the excellent work, Kyle! 💝💝💝
@@LaHayeSaint, yes!! There could be demonic spirits hanging out in these for sure-could be why they were abandoned or sold for cheap. I’d be blasting praise music to Jesus in some of these! Luckily, His name has the power to rebuke these and send them on their way. 🙏🏻
All they take is a big bundle of money. That's why they're on the market at high fixer upper prices. The money pit. Except for the small house in Alabama. And the catch there is its in Alabama.
Hi Kyle, Singh here. I like your wonderful search of Victorian houses. I would love to buy one of the house where I can run Airbnb if you know property in good city and good neighborhood. Thanks Singh.
It's interesting to see such old decrepit homes. In Canada, unoccupied homes, poorly maintained and not sold are torn down. So we don't end up with cities like Detroit and some of the Ohio cities with rows of houses squatted in by druggies and gang bangers. It's sad when in some of our rural communities the old homes from the early 1900s, get taken down because no central heating, etc., but what beautiful 4 story dwellings. If a home qualifies as a Historic register dwelling, then it must be kept up, and there are grants, and societies who do that.
Lol are u up for the task ? Lol the sarcasm 5000 buy house lifting home n repairs ....$$$$$$$$$$$🤣🤣 hopefully cheap ones in these same places still on my search.
Yes i would any home will do me good right now i wish i own my own home i have been wanted to own my own home for a long time.... Any home will do for now.besided paying rent rent to own it....
I can’t get over how many old homes are on the market for sale I’m impressed but when people renovate properly they really want to bring their house to all legal codes like is the plumbing needs to be replaced doors the sewer lines need to be replaced does the water line need to be replaced does the electrical need to be replaced and does it need a new roof because if your house leaks your walls and floors will be ruined and then you have to see how much back taxes are owed onthe property and that’s before you even attempt to fix the house to its original design and style of its era even if you add more modern kitchen appliances and cabinets and remodel the bathroom more modern with tiled walls and floors to match and jacuzzi bath tub and shower with more modern sinks that all adds up quickly even if you do some of the cosmetic stuff your self you still have to pull permits and hire contractors who do the work needed like the water heater and waterlines and sewer lines that takes a plumber contractor and the electrical takes a electrical contractor not everyone has the knowledge and know how you and your family have in what you know how to do and the access to alot of friends who you have who can help you do a full renovation to the average person who sees these homes and their potential to what they could become if fully restored back to its original former glory it’s like the utube couple restoration nation they would know how to do it because that is what they do on a daily basis to keep American historical homes to remain part of our culture and heritage as Americans people because no one builds houses like they did architectural design and style and structure strong and foundation strong and such great detail in the wood and crowning and molding and the fireplace and everything else that has to do with the entire construction of the house ❤it’s like when you and your brother decided in your cabin you bought you got rid of two original light fixtures the stained glass one that could have been used over a beautiful pool table and the one chandelier in the ceiling of kitchen I just about died when you got rid of them and put your more modern cheap lighting in its places it had brought elegance and charm and character to your beautiful cabin well enjoyed watching this video anyway it was very entertaining like all your videos ❤😊
You didn't mention anything about the $5,000 dollar home advertised with the thumbnail picture. Although you mentioned a house that is on sale for $5,000 its not the same as the house depicted on the thumbnail. Are you just click bating your viewers or is it real?
Would you guys like to live in any of these houses?
I like the Selma one
If I had the money to fully restore, yes I would.
yup
Yes, house do I get details
Need details to purchase

I think it caused Mothers heart attack then stroke, it messes with immune system. Hidden roof leak.

Kyle, can you guys do a short holiday show? So we can see the cabin all lit up and decked out? I miss the cabin shows.
Great Idea !
Merry Christmas to you and yours Kyle.
Depends on the type of neighborhood.

How can I go houses for free??????????

Love the brick home! It is good to see more farm land with at least an acre.
I wonder if the house in Selma Alabama made it through the tornado there today. It was sad to see some of the damage there. It was ironic that I watched this video for the first time and I almost couldn’t believe that it was from there.
Thanks for the great tours. Really don't mind ghosts ,, lol. They can be good company. Very intetested. Will be looking. Stay in touch!

beautiful architecture and style! you're a house addict like me. thanks! would have to research neighborhoods. do you hold any of these?

That castle looking home in France, Bros of Decay visited it saying that it had been bought already. That was two years ago.
When do we settle?
Too much negative energy in old properties! Buy land and build your own, or buy off plan new build!
thats true!

Ok, "grand 1,600 square foot" is an oxymoron.
I love some of those but they are sold so fast. Most of these houses don’t stay on the market long
Historic homes are a nightmare. I should know. I renovated one. I had to remove the word “historic” from the listing in order to sell it.
Seriously guys, you must check for paranormal activity, else you might make a purchase you will soon regret!
My thoughts precisely! ❤❤❤❤❤

The second home is located in Ohio. In a area which is like living in Gang area WATTS
All they take is a big bundle of money.

I love old house ❤
Wow all have there style
How do you find the status of the home in Selma? Address and if it is standing since the storm, or sold? Thanx!

They may need a bit more than paint
I hate it when they cut up homes into apartments. Disgusting
What if they have Paranormal activity in them
Im interested in auctions foreclosures and preconstruction deals for flipping
A BIT of paint? Well, there are usually problems that are very costly to fix such as foundation and rotting issues… buyer beware!
You don't want to wake up at midnight and see someone look at you.
What about the ghosts there?

How can I buy old mansions or cheap old houses please let me know…
It’s too bad that there’s no houses available in Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oregon or Northern California.
The Dunning place had already sold!
the design...
the American identity and nature
You would need to be a millionaire!!!
Hello do you have a number to the house in north Carolina?I would like to buy.
Yeah but the catch is you've got to move it.
That's worse than having your whole life in a shopping cart.
...When there's nowhere to move it to.

Why do all these large homes mostly have only one bathroom.
Too bad they are in neighborhoods most people wouldnt want to live in. There are nice houses in Chicago too but not safe areas.
Shame on you for saying it could use some "modernizing!!"
Don't forget ,a priest will be required for cleansing all these houses!
Why so many reverse shots of the rooms? It's very disconcerting.
These are probably all sold by now (interested in NC houses)
When you have to pay over $200,000 to move a home a $5,000 home is not a bargain just saying
I want to buy
U do a fine job n fun.1.5
