@@lknishaI don't think modern is the problem, so much as the weird stylistic choice. The original sounds like a pop song made for a climax in a movie(obviously). The Mylene Jenus version I know of still sounds like a pop song, as does the Mari Iijima version, while Frontier went more modern and focuses more in the "climactic battle" direction. On the ither hand, this one is giving me...R&B Christmas vibes? I'm not sure, it's just off somehow to me.
