  • Learn how to build a dirt jump for BMX or other types of bikes in just one day!
    John, Ryan, and I went from talking about building a new first jump for main to having it completely done about 24 hours later. Through this came the perfect opportunity to film a how to build a dirt jump video.
    This jump took about 5 and a half hours from flat ground to finished jump with almost non stop digging. Hopefully this video can help someone build their own dirt jump and if it does, please let us know in the comments below!!!
    Thank you for choosing to spend your time watching one of my videos!

    That dirt is so nice. Makes for much better digging. Nice work👌

      Yea it does! But it also doesn’t stay together quite like clay. I like it better though for sure.
      Thanks!!

      @@Brant_Moore very tru... can't beat clay. I built some in a forrest once. Never needed water. Digging was like butter. Once set and compacted it was awesome👌 the place I live now the dirt is hard rocky and we never get rain😔 oh well. Good exercise 😄

      Oh man, there’s a couple areas that are like that down here where we just avoid digging completely. At least you have a good attitude about it!

    Curious on why you didn't use the stump as a base to minimize the dirt used. Is there a downside?

    • @Brant_Moore
      @Brant_Moore  4 роки тому +12

      Yea over time it degrades and the jump can settle. But mostly just if you need to move it or ever end up moving it years later, it’s super annoying. Also a pride thing I think

      Stumps make jumps look janky and it’s just a lazy way

      Sometimes stumps soften over time. Rocks aren’t a bad idea if it saved you 10 shoes full’s.

    Ground here in Oregon is like Concrete i can't even metal detect. Once it rains i am going to build something. Building another ramp in the new apartments.

    Any tips on measuring to ensure the height of the lip and landing are correctly spaced apart?

    • @Brant_Moore
      @Brant_Moore  3 роки тому +2

      Oh man. That’s such a hard one to give tips on since it relies on so many variables. Speed being a key factor. Perfect example. A 2 foot tall lip can have a 20 foot gap, or a 5 foot gap and it is only reliant on the speed coming into it

      @@Brant_Moore Thanks for the reply! So true! I'll have to work on this as I'm aiming to build a line and this is the hardest part as you know. Just figured I'd ask if you had any tips! Very awesome video btw definitely gave me some motivation to get building!

    Bought a 22" bmx, perfect size for 6"2 tall person. 20" look stupid and uncomfortable with tall ppl, everyone should give the 22" a chance u wont regret it.
    Lol Jumped for the first time in 5 years nearly dislocated my shoulder but then won the next day.
    I thought i was way over bmx but can't its just the best.
    Cheers for the vid.
