Gear, potions/food and skills. Folks have been saying it, yes, but gotta drive this one home, lol. You really need a tuned gear-set for BGs (and Cryo/IC too). You simply cannot go into BGs wearing the basic overland mixed sets that you use for delves, as an example. You really want to find a build guide that caters to your class and then play around with the various suggested sets to find the combination that best suits your needs and your playstyle. I personally find a fortified 5 piece of Fortified Brass from Clockwork City DLC to be a fantastic tank set for BGs, as all its set item bonuses are extra armor and health related. Food, it cannot be stressed enough that you really want a food/drink buff prior to starting PVP content. With the right passives in your provisioning skill line, you can get 4 drinks and food items for every one you craft. There is no need to not carry a stack of food/drink items that suit your needs (for you, something that gives you a good 5k extra health and maybe some stamina regen for sustain). Same for potions, use the Alchemy skill line to get the passive that gives you 4 potions for every 1 crafted and then look into making yourself a solid stack of Tri-Pots (water, columbine, mountain flower and bugloss) so you can quickly get burst on your resources (HP, Mag, Stam), plus some added regen for sustain. And finally, as others have mentioned throughout the comments, start stacking up your passives - do not ignore them as a skill point wasted. There are more skill points available in this game than you will ever use for a single build, so dont sit on them just because you dont want to run out. And I suppose as someone else mentioned... just because you may get a handle on things doing the above mentioned items, once you pass into CP levels of MMR (though CP is not used in BGs), it gets hellish if you go in underprepared - constantly get your gear updated even though its going to cost you resources, materials and trait items. You always want your weapons and armor to be as close to your current level as possible. Do not use level 10 armor when you are level 30, for an example. Go craft the set you are wearing, if craftable, or go run the zone that gives you the gear in drops, to refresh to your current level. Or... even better, start using your Transmutes in Clockwork City to reconstruct your gear items with the traits that you want, rather than hoping for them to drop in overland content. Guild traders are also an option, albiet a more expensive one. Still... keep your gear at your level, and you will do fine! And above all, do NOT be afraid to use your crafting quality items to improve your gear! Never go above Epic (purple) until you hit CP160 though - no point wasting gold quality items on gear you will just replace constantly. One thing I noticed in your death breakdown suggestions was that you didnt have a Mundus. Go get one that is applicable for tanking. Everyone else you are playing against definitely has one and you should too! Id suggest The Serpent for the added Stamina regen, and then make all of your 7 armor items use the Divines trait to make that mundus bonus even bigger! Finally... couldnt really tell from your short-from video here, but I would also suggest you learn and perfect the art of "light weaving". Ie: going after an enemy at 1/2 HP with a burst attack, an ultimate and a spammable. But, weaving a light attack in between each one. Burst, light, Ult, light, Spammable, light, Spammable, light, etc etc. Think of it like a heartbeat. Each step of your weave is one beat of the heart. You perfect that, you will be WAY above the curve and do some MASSIVE damage and get higher kill counts. Hope these tips help you! And note, all of this is just as applicable for overland and group content like dungeons, arenas and trials too, not just PVP.
For below 50 you can just use whatever you got when questing, as long as it's reasonably up to your current level. Going into 50+ BGs then you need a proper PvP build.
I remember once i turned lvl 15 i just went straight to BG's until lvl 50ish, all that matters is gear, meet someone nice get them to make you a couple sets, done. used lvl 15 gear until lvl 40 usually and was more often than not 15+ kills and less than 3 deaths. Sets i remember i think were Julianos, and a set with high crit,
For the love of Akatosh, put one skill point in the Continuous Attack passive. No need for more than one unless you are in Cyrodiil. In PVE and PVP you need completely different builds. Have you gotten the free Armory from the Crown store already? It comes with 2 slots by default but you can buy more. You can save a PVE and a PVP build in it once you are CP160. Before that, you can use it to reset your character for free. Just load an empty slot. Of course you can save your build even before CP160 but there's very little point in it. I usually play PVE but in ESO I have tried PVP and actually liked Cyrodiil. Battlegrounds is ok, too, but I really like Cyrodiil. I only go to Imperial City during Mayhem to get my daily tickets. The different builds you can make work in Cyrodiil makes it very diverse. In Battlegrounds you need the broken tanky build with insane burst, same in Imperial City. But Cyrodiil gives you a bit more freedom with what works. Although, the current tank meta limits the sets people typically use to a handful of meta sets. But there's still space for those who like to try fun off-meta builds.
With pvp, as a newer player, you need to practice keeping your buffs up. Major and minor Resolve, and Major brutality and Sorcery. You want these up 100% of the time, you can practice by just keeping them up while running around open world.
So newbie helps, buy some food buff that battleground suppliers sells, trying to uses dungeon sets and overlands, sun set(stonesfall), plague doctor(deshaan). And try to focus youe burst damage.
I absolutely love PVP in ESO especially in battlegrounds but there's an extremely high skill ceiling for ESO pvp which can be extremely unpleasant for newer players. Keep in mind it's best to optimize your build for BGs if you're doing BGs. Same for cyro and IC. Best to run a defensive but also offensive set on back bar like essence thief or rally cry. Front bar can be whatever like sustain or burst. However the reason why someone can be super tanky then dish out so much power is probably Balorgh's as their monster set. Once they do an ult, you'll start to feel the pressure
Press "Q" to drink that potion.... So many times in the video where you're almost dead and your potion is just sitting there all filled and ready for you... USE IT!!
Do you think your knowledge of GW2 PvP has helped ease you into ESO PvP? It does look like it has similar fast paced combat, but with better pvp features.
I see alot of people in these comments complaining about unbalance. Eso pvp is in one of its best balance states in years. Ive been pvping in crafted or overland gear for years. I never chase the "meta". Your personal skill dominates any set in the game. Some one who is better than you will win 95% regardless of what sets you or they have equipped. The most unbalanced part of pvp is in cyrodiil and its the ball groups that have 10+ members running super organized with the newest broken set, they are hard to counter unless you run the same gear.
ESO PvP is a marathon not a sprint, and there are zero in game tutorials that will prepare you for it. You have to find a PVP player and or guild that will help train you in the basics. It takes time and effort. Because of the lack new of PvP content in ESO you will find yourself playing against two groups of players nubes and veteran. The vets have played the game for years and have hundreds if not thousands of hours in PvP. There’s very little middle class PvP’rs in ESO which makes the learning curve a bit steep. Very fun but not ez to get into. Hope you stick around!
While a big part of it is learning how to play the game and how to build your character, ESO PvP balance is a mess. (Once you get to Lvl50CP160) If the No-Proc campaigns are still available in Cyrodiil and Imperial-City, try those.
Hahaha welcome to ESO! Low level BGs are a crap shoot 😂 - lots of genuine first timers and newcomers to the game but also veterans rolling a new character smurfing with crafted sets that newbies typically don’t have (most new players just go with random gear they picked up while questing). So don’t sweat it too much, just learn the mechanics and understand that the real BGs start after level 50, cp 160, when you start putting together coherent builds with coherent gear sets.
There’s no way around getting a build, it’s not like Dark Souls where you always have the potential to win. ESO isn’t a game you can jump into, but getting to a playable PvP state is simple albeit deliberate
@ESO_PRIME 0 seconds ago Begginer pvp is so messy! Wait until you get to endgame pvp! It’s so much fun! Pvp end game has kept me around for a decade, 20k hours in! Still obsessed!! It’s a blast mastering every class 🔥
Let me sum up eso pvp for you. Lag. Input lag. Sometimes you'll go from 100 to 0 and look at your death recap and see all theae abilities that you never saw on your screen.
It is def a hug prob. A problem they never had when game was released. The graphics weren't great but game played so well on release. It's a shell of what it used to be
People are twinked out the gord in U50 pvp. He was probably in super powerful gear crafted by a max level character, with the best food, etc. Just get to 50/cp160 and make a bow nightblade with tarnished nightmare and a bunch of penetration like everyone else. Oh but since you're DK you're already the best PVP class so you'll just need a tanky build but I dunno search for something online.
Under 50 BG's is where its all a relatively fair game still, once you get to CP battlegrounds you run into the true skill gap, you get floppy wet noodles and grand master vets who have perfected their builds.
Then you need a proper PvP build. The below 50 are great for getting into how PvP works though. I usually just run with stuff I found on the ground while questing when doing the below 50 and still not doing too badly.
did you even have sets on? big difference between someone casual who just hopped in with no food, no sets, unmorphed skills... your ui isnt even set up properly, but you learn as you go, i'd say eso pvp is fun in low/medium mmr, at high tiers combats are really long and idk never got to high mmr so
Well from the first two minutes of the video you’re speced into direct damage on a Damage over time type of character. Not building into your strengths = you do no damage to other people Also there are people who harm “low level bgs” idk why but they will come in there will Goldened out gear, dominate the lobby and leave before the match ends
Level doesn't actually matter when it comes to battlegrounds. Aside from not having access to all your skills in theory everyone should be at the same level of play. The problem is you have filthy Smurfs who want to pretend like they're really good at the game and so they craft very strong underleveled sets and make new characters so they can absolutely wash newer characters who lack experience on how to PVP properly. That's what that bash build you ran into was there's no way any new player would come up with something like that
I absolutely loved the pvp in eso but once the servers went to shit, they'd promised to fix it for years and never did. Along with crap balancing and not listening to the players I quit
@@CaffeinatedDad if u don't like the mosh pit zergs in cyrodil, u can join smaller groups that focus on lesser objectives. U would also like the sewers, alot of fun. But doing that might not be fun without an endgame character. Use to love ganking with my stamina nightblade
Eso pvp has a very tremendous skill gap. Once you play for a while and move up in mmr, you'll reach a cross roads of sorts where you'll either be compelled to learn how to do what the other players are doing to you, or you will quit.
You're at way to low a level, and some of the players you're going to run into deliberately create low level characters to pvp with. They understand how to maximize sets and skills to be unkillable even at low level. Without the same experience and knowledge, you will never kill someone who has played pvp a lot.
Generally there's three ways to build a character in ESO. If you want to be a tank, you go 100% on health and take abilities that get stronger with HP. For Physical DPS, 100% stamina. Magical DPS and Healer, 100% magicka. Mixed builds in the long term just can't keep up in PvE, let alone PVP. It's a big downside in what I consider to be an otherwise pretty good game for building your own playstyle. (Almost every class can be built to physical or magical play, although dragonknight and nightblade are more phys based and Sorcerer and Watden are usually better mag based.)
@@Tolly7249 I agree with you on everything excluding the tanking. Typically tanks will split their stats between all 3 to meet certain effective minimums to sustain in combat.. A majority will still go to health, but almost every build you want to meet at least 20k stam and close to 20k mag. You can get a lot of health from armor, CP, skills and food. You are mainly putting your points in to try to meet 38-40k health at which point it becomes more effective to dump into other attributes.
@@Robert-pt2jz Huh, that's really good to know, thanks! I ran Mag-DPS and/or Mag-Healer when I played so I never actually tried out a proper tank build.
U literally couldn’t be more wrong. High end pvp is mixed builds unless ur a gankrr no one is running full 64 stats in any attribute. Going full stam or full mag is exclusively pve(unless ur a ganker then full stam). PvP is getting to 30k hp u don’t get one shot, which usually means 30-40 health and the rest in ur damage stat
As a 1vX player and piece of shit bow ganker.... builds matter and if you're not "in the know" of what's good youre mostly doomed to never win. Skill has no bearing other than if you're fighting a 1vX player most of the time tbh. Most eso players casually pvp and just run around as zerglings. Cyrodil is insane, battlegrounds are far more new player friendly.
by unhinged you mean a hacked lagfest ... been playing since 2016 ...my advice, get out now before you get too invested ... that's how zenimax gets you !
ESO is an embarrasing bugfest that ZOS doesnt care to fix as long as you keep shoveling money at them. You cant even pvp in cyrodiil cause the lag spikes will eat your inputs. This game is barely more than the failure fallout 76 was, and by the same people. Don't waste your money on this horrible game guild wars is better
Literally someone says this about every game or weapon in any game. Creating a perfectly balanced experience is nearly non-existent in complex sandboxes which is why it experiences metas. The only way you get balance is if there is 1 class, 1 armor set and 1 weapon with 5 standardized skills and an ultimate.that everyone shares. Sounds a bit boring to me.
can you please get eso plus with this
Yes sir! Also thank you!

Great video ❤
Glad you liked it!! It was a blast to play!
@@CaffeinatedDad if you need any help on pcna, just let me know!
I wish gw2 had more pvp content. Seems so lacking for something so fun.
This is me in guild wars 2
While a big part of it is learning how to play the game and how to build your character, ESO PvP balance is a mess. (Once you get to Lvl50CP160) If the No-Proc campaigns are still available in Cyrodiil and Imperial-City, try those.
Hahaha welcome to ESO! Low level BGs are a crap shoot 😂 - lots of genuine first timers and newcomers to the game but also veterans rolling a new character smurfing with crafted sets that newbies typically don’t have (most new players just go with random gear they picked up while questing). So don’t sweat it too much, just learn the mechanics and understand that the real BGs start after level 50, cp 160, when you start putting together coherent builds with coherent gear sets.
wecome to eso pvp
There’s no way around getting a build, it’s not like Dark Souls where you always have the potential to win. ESO isn’t a game you can jump into, but getting to a playable PvP state is simple albeit deliberate
I was in most of these battles, also seeing a few people repeatedly you weren't playing new players.

Begginer pvp is so messy! Wait until you get to endgame pvp! It’s so much fun! Pvp end game has kept me around for a decade, 20k hours in! Still obsessed!! It’s a blast mastering every class 🔥
Eso pvp endgame is whoever is more sweatier. Unless ur running as a zergling, if ur not min maxed ur getting shit on
@@jpwashere2868 no shit sherlock! You speaking the one of thee sweatiest pvp console players there ever was! Come find me and I'll show you salt! lol
@@ESO_PRIME nasty console, pc better
@@jpwashere2868 no shit sherlock!! wow, you're just full of obvious! lol
once you get to 50, the pvp gets even more insane, but don't let that scare you off, make a pvp build and enjoy it!
Let me sum up eso pvp for you.
Lag.
Input lag.
Sometimes you'll go from 100 to 0 and look at your death recap and see all theae abilities that you never saw on your screen.
Ha! Probably at some point I'll get to this but I haven't had too many issues yet. I'm probably dying because I'm not set up appropriately
In BGs lag isn't that much of an issue.
Nah man you can use basic crafted gear or just farm sets for u50 and be this strong
I usually just run with stuff I found on the ground while questing when doing the below 50 and still not doing too badly.
did you even have sets on? big difference between someone casual who just hopped in with no food, no sets, unmorphed skills... your ui isnt even set up properly, but you learn as you go, i'd say eso pvp is fun in low/medium mmr, at high tiers combats are really long and idk never got to high mmr so
put down your armory in the free apartment and have a dedicated pvp set up to switch to
is it me? ive heard others in bgs mentions the red team... its orange ye?
Well from the first two minutes of the video you’re speced into direct damage on a Damage over time type of character.
Not building into your strengths = you do no damage to other people
Also there are people who harm “low level bgs” idk why but they will come in there will Goldened out gear, dominate the lobby and leave before the match ends
That's what that bash build you ran into was there's no way any new player would come up with something like that
You dont have passives to i noticed xD when you ulted you got nothing back
Nope... lol
It's a shock to new ppl lol. It's more about your build and skill lvl take your time research a decent build and u will be ok.

I absolutely loved the pvp in eso but once the servers went to shit, they'd promised to fix it for years and never did. Along with crap balancing and not listening to the players I quit
Yeah I've seen some of the comments talking about how crazy the mmr is and the balance. I have had fun though
@@CaffeinatedDad if u don't like the mosh pit zergs in cyrodil, u can join smaller groups that focus on lesser objectives. U would also like the sewers, alot of fun. But doing that might not be fun without an endgame character. Use to love ganking with my stamina nightblade
Beginner PvP is fun until you have to fight a guy that can't die from 4 of your allies damage while killing all of you alone :P
He he.. Yeah, those people do indeed exist... How they do it is a mystery.
@@newworldforward1842 After I made the PvP build I was able to kill 4 people once, but they *almost* got me :D
I love eso ya it has its issues but its still a great game
Wait till u settle in get used to it ….Boom update and u gotta start from scratch 😂😂😂
Eso pvp has a very tremendous skill gap. Once you play for a while and move up in mmr, you'll reach a cross roads of sorts where you'll either be compelled to learn how to do what the other players are doing to you, or you will quit.
Nasir Spurs
You're at way to low a level, and some of the players you're going to run into deliberately create low level characters to pvp with. They understand how to maximize sets and skills to be unkillable even at low level. Without the same experience and knowledge, you will never kill someone who has played pvp a lot.
Wait till you get over level 50….. 🙃
@@Robert-pt2jz Remember... CP doesnt count in BGs though, so that portion of your suggestion is moot.
U literally couldn’t be more wrong. High end pvp is mixed builds unless ur a gankrr no one is running full 64 stats in any attribute. Going full stam or full mag is exclusively pve(unless ur a ganker then full stam). PvP is getting to 30k hp u don’t get one shot, which usually means 30-40 health and the rest in ur damage stat
not a dk player, at all, 10y ago former empress thouugh ( mainly nb back tahn) but FLAME WHIP buddy WHIPP the shit out of them like a balrog does
If you get insta death it's because of macro slicers and third party tools users 🤪
Anyone who thinks pvp is the most unbalanced mess they have ever played is a noob
Yep, that new class is Pay to Win.
Bro you are years! Too late lmao boy
Also armor and crit resist are massive. No crit resist, you're begging to die
Oh and hmu if you want any pve or pvp tips. I'd be glad to teach yah on weekends/mondays
by unhinged you mean a hacked lagfest ... been playing since 2016 ...my advice, get out now before you get too invested ... that's how zenimax gets you !
Just avoid Cyro and it's not so bad.
So many broken builds in eao pvp
TESO pvp is unbalanced crap.
Yeah I can see that in some regards. I had a blast though!
I think ZOS wants it that way.
Que times in battlegrounds go by mmr, the better you do the longer the ques get
