It's interesting how the slice is making a comeback. So many younger players coming up are so one dimensional that anyone with a little variety, particularly low balls gives them fits. Su Wieh Hsieh is terrorizing the tour right now slicing and dicing

I have a lot of slice and variety in my game like Su Wei. It is surprising how much problems it gives players! Especially when I play tournaments. Every one of my opponents have said they can't tell where I am going to hit the ball and what I am going to with the ball.
It has nothing to do with their one dimensional game. Rather they don't use their brain. Monica Seles has very one-dimensional game but when she plays Steffi she knows how to expliot the slicing backhand.
the slice isnt why hsieh is dangerous it's how random her two handed forehand is. not only does it give you no pace or rhythm, but you have no clue until the last min where she'll hit it
We need more players like flipkens
And Hsieh as well.
Flipkens and Aga always had the best rallies together!

Flipkens plays beautiful tennis.
Genie didn't manage to take advantage of her opponents weak backhand side.
She should attack on this side and if needed go to the net to finish the point.
She should improve her volley skills and her tactic.
The thing is most woman can't handle slice because there is barely any players on the wta tour that slice the ball.

Honestly, players like flipkens, barty, stosur (players who seem to have weak backhands) actually play the slice very intelligently. It's not always defensive. When they're confident, then they go for a full two-hand follow-thru. All have been/are top players
@@giamiramontes5639 I agree with your comment. It is not always defensive it is many times an offensive shot to approach the net for ex. But it is not the best passing shot and when these players are pressed with a low shot at their backhand side and their opponent is in the net they don't have always time and ability to execute a proper full two-hand follow-thru backhand to pass. So it not always a weak backhand but for these players, it is usually a weak way to pass.

what a shame, after judging sharapova with a dirty and sharapova proves us that she deserves to be in the court again, and how about you? being struggle to find a nice spot, even untill now its hard to make it through into third round. talent never lies.
Bouchard was actually trying to avoid her backhand side. You cant handle slice when you hit flat with no spin at all

Totally agree same here, but bouchard has a bad forehand, it's not flat or spin but just a stupud snap if hamd so the ball can reach the other court. Her backhand on the lther hand is really good when she's on the run and in general sometimes too

One dimensional tennis from Bouchard. Incessantly failed to capitalize on her nice returns.
Genie may not have what it takes to be a top level player, almost too bad about her having had early successes because now she hopes to relive that and that may not be realistic. Her game is one that relies too much on precision, she hits the ball so early, very little margin for error. She could perhaps use more topspin but at the end of the day, she just may not have what it takes and the competition is getting much stronger.
Genie Bouchard's career just seems to be going from bad to worse. It's shocking that she is so inconsistent, someone needs to tell her that tennis is a mental game and that you have to play smart tennis in order to win. You can't just expect to hit a couple of powerful shots and expect to win a match so she really needs to work on her defense and needs to develop her mental strength.
Also is someone even bothering to coach her? As a tennis player myself I could easily tell that she is off balance and her distribution of body weight is all wrong when she plays her forehand and backhand she is not propelling her body forward and using her body weight to generate enough power consistently with her groundstrokes. She really needs to go back to basics.

Hate to say it, but Genies forehand has no power, and she needs to beef up her serve as well. A few extra points here or there could have got her across the line in this one.

Watching Bouchard jumped and rotated mid air when hitting the balls trying to generate extra power just showed what she severely lacked. The top girls usually have one or two lethal weapons, be it big serve, big forehand, crushing two handed backhand, single handed backhand etc. She has none unfortunately, just very average overall. She was promising once, spent too much time looking like a slut on social media, made a huge mistake thrashing Maria Sharapova on her Meldonium use, and in the end has little time to improve her game. The only thing she has left is her huge instagram followers.
Stop slut shaming. Honestly, it just shows how misogynistic and ignorant you are.

I am a woman myself, and I encourage my female peers to love their own bodies. People like you who immediately accuse me of being a pervert prevents the message from being sent across. Many women lack confidence, which is a major reason why they are not that likely to succeed in job interviews and become successful entrepreneurs. By encouraging women to appreciate their own bodies is a step forward to increasing their self-esteem and confidence.
