      I have a 30 gallon shrimp and guppy tank. Do you know of a canister filter or attachment to make the intake tube suitable for micro fry ? I tried to put a sponge cover over my sunsun canister and it caused flow issues.

    Ok hotshot. You said anything. I have a filter that I absolutely love and they are new to the United States. They have been here less than 2 years. The company is called Aquael. The filter is the Ultramax 2000. I actually own the 2000 and 1500 models. This filter is a work horse. The amount of media they hold is astonishing.

      Amount of media can be overkill,. U don’t need 200lb media for 10 fish,. Even though u may have 200lb as an example ,if u got 10 fish in that tank u only have amount of bacteria as the amount of waste produced by those fish,.if u have canister full of media it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s full of beneficial bacteria,,. Amount of bacteria depend on fish load,..

      Yep they are great. 1000 and 1500 have the same flow though. Aquael is a Polish company that's been here for more than 30 years I think. They coming out with new high end filters in 2023.

    I run this exact canister filter for a year now and love it. The only complaint I have is the length of hose they sell you in the box. The plus side is that their spare parts list and ordering process is amazing. I purchased a whole o-ring kit and filter media kit from Sicce and keep it handy. Amazing filter!!

    The Fluval '07 series has easily removed media baskets too, and the top is really easy to remove. I'm not sure how these Sicce filters compare pricewise, but I have a 207 and a 407 and while they're a little expensive, they're silent, easy to work on and they have adjustable flow.

    • @andreashessler838
      @andreashessler838 2 роки тому +1

      Price vs quality, you can't beat the 06/07 series. I have 4 on various tanks that have been happily buzzing away for years.
      Everyone seems to be obsessed with the FX series, but I have yet to hear a coherent reason why you would swap out a 207 for an FX2.
      They are also far better priced than Oase and Eheim options.

    • @dlaw1954
      @dlaw1954 2 роки тому

      @@andreashessler838 The only thing I can think of is the external pump, but I don't know why that would be. Everything about the maintenance side of the '07s is so much easier, and they ditched the drain on FX2. The 407 got my vote because all my LFS had was the FX4 which seemed like way too much for my 75g, but it still would have if they had the FX2 because of the drain. Now, if one option or the other had a built in heater, that would have trumped ease of use for me, as I hate the way my heater looks in my tank.

    Discovered the hygger 24/7 lights because of you. Love those lights! Would be the most perfect lights ever if not for the power outage resets. I would replace all my beamworks fa specs with these if not for that. The tiniest bleap in my electricity...(which happens in West Texas wind and thunderstorms)...and it's reset time. Still best light for price for anyone with just a couple of tanks. Best light spectrum on a budget light out there. Colors pop! I bought the white canister( SunSun 304 or 704) I think brand, from China over 4yr ago. I have cleaned it twice in that time,. It’s filtering a 90gal. For $55 I p8d at the time, really can’t beat it.. 535gph in reality probably half that, but still works great! Also have a 30gal sump running on same aquarium,with heavy cichlid stock,. Water stays clear NEVER have ammonia spikes also built an anoxic filter andplaced in 1 of the sump chambers. Works really well.. for the price I paid for the canister filter ,can’t beat it,. Around a three gallon canister with 5trays and a up light. I won’t pay $4~$500 for a canister (cough,cough) fluVal fx… Nomatter how much filter media u have in a tank ,. U only going to have beneficial bacteria to the amount of waste produced by your fish, seen a lot of overkill or unnecessary amounts of media in so many videos on the u tube, tryna sell their products, I get it, but still 😂.. I always watched u and ur wife vids, y’all keep it real,.. I just hope u keep it that way..

    If Apple made a filter...
    It probably wouldn't be compatible with anything you currently own and the iPeople in charge would figure out a way to force everyone to buy all new setups, from new aquariums, heaters and lights to fish food, conditioners and meds.

      @dlaw1954 2 роки тому +1

      Don't forget the 2 year upgrade cycle! Gotta keep that money coming in! They'd want customers to buy the whole setup directly from them, I'm sure. It would probably come completely assembled with a predone aquascape that's permanently mounted to the floor of the tank.
      I'd imagine the first page of the manual to read something like:
      "In order to assure that this product meets your demands, this equipment must not be used with any equipment from any other manufacturer. Failure to comply with this warning will result in your warranty being void. When stocking, be sure to only pick "iQuarium Approved" fish, plants, and invertebrates. This will ensure compatibility with your aquarium, as they have gone through our rigorous quality control testing. Do not add 3rd party inhabitants. iTank, iStand, iLight, iFilter and iHeater must only be installed by an Apple Tech. iTank, iStand, iLight, iFilter, iHeater and iQuarium are all trademarks." Blah blah blah. lol

    So a question I have with this external filter. What happens if you're away and the power goes out? Will it restart itself or would it be better to have it hooked up to a battery?

    You didn’t compare to the fluval 07 series which is much easier to take apart and has one primer. Plus it holds more media (looks like anyway). I’ve got a 307 on my 45 gallon and absolutely love it. Only two latches to remove the top.

    This is very useful information and as a Aussie (aka Australian) I love it.
    But the question I would like to ask is when you talk about gallons in a fish tank for an example a 75 gallon fish tank could you also say what the litres are of the fish tank for us Aussie as we say litres not gallons and litres per hour not gallons per area.

    I bought the eko 200 from your shop, should be here any day and I’m super excited but I’m having a hard time understanding head height. I don’t understand. I’m a newb to canisters. I want to put it on my 40 breeder (18” tall) and put the canister in the cabinet below. I read that the head height max on the 200 is 3ft and change. Does that mean that I can’t have it more than 3ft below the top of the tank? Help! Haha.
    Also - I could put this on my goldfish tank instead but it’s on a bottom shelf so it would have to sit NEXT to the tank, couldn’t go under it. Is that allowed or not because you wouldn’t get a siphon?

  • @Bountyless
    @Bountyless 2 роки тому +4

    My only question here is why are you comparing this to the FX series when the more comparable filters from fluval are the 07 series which also raise the media basket in one pull and also have a secondary prefilter which looks much better than this setup for filtration. Also the 07 series is just as easy if not easier to unlock than this sicce model. You also mentioned that the fluval filters don't need priming, this is also not true, as the 07 series has a primer as well. Not trying to be a fluval fanboy here just trying to call you out on my observations.

    Great video, lot of people miss the boat when it comes to gph. The more you add the more you start to restrict the flow. Fyi Sicce Bioker ceramic biological media. I know on a 75 it will only turn over the tank 3.2 hours, falling short on at least 4 times an hour. On the bigger tanks is it working out well for you? I think the 300 on a 55 would be a nice fit.

    • @lifewithnikka7440
      @lifewithnikka7440 2 роки тому

      @@arianekelly5715 Oase has a prefilter unit that pulls out easily without having to open main canister. Depending on how you look at it, can mean less maintenance. The prefilters will clog quickly...so basically...More frequent prefilter sponge cleaning...less full maintenance cleaning.
      Be aware the prefilter system is a long tubular thing that requires clearance to get out of your canister. If in cabinet, make sure you leave enough hose to pull unit out enough to get prefilter out.
      Also, the larger units can have ongoing issues with purging...or burping occasionally. Haven't seen any complaints about the smaller units.
      Hope this helps. ☺️☺️

    Great video, however I disagree with your title.
    If Apple made a filter, it would have completely uniquely sized tubes and other connections, a unique wall plug that needs an adapter for normal sockets, require only Apple brand filter media, can only be maintenanced by Apple employees and cease to work as soon as an unnecessary upgraded filter hits the market.

      @@Jhholderfield i did end up going with the sicce space eco, the smallest one . when running its great but priming it is a bit difficult as the mechanism is kind of cheap junk but, its a canister filter so i dont have to do that but every couple of months. when thinking of a small tanks its really the best option in my view , the fluval and other canisters of this size dont give you the baskets and customization in media
