    Sicce really sat down and thought this design through, it looks amazing, and the magnets. Internal filter users are foaming at the mouth with these features.
    As an internal filter user, decades of suction cups, and messing about with fluval U3 was a nightmare and it's release broke over time, eheim isn't too bad and running 2 of them, but now I'm going to move to the sicce 900 as it uses 3 watts less too.
    Its engineering at it's finest. Well done Sicce,

    Got my Shark Pro 500 preorder in the mail a few days ago for my 20 gallon long. Took me every bit of three minutes to get this filter going! I took my bio media out of my other filter and replace the middle sponge so I didn't spike my parameters. You're exactly right...this filter is a game changer!!

    I own the Shark ADV. I really like the spray bar on this. However, I am a little unsure about the small media boxes. I liked the ADV because I could layer my filter material (coarse grain sponage it came with, mini fine grain from an aqua clear, filter floss, and a couple of mini bio rings). With this setup I only clean it every 3 months or so and it made the water crystal clear. I think it would feel like a box filter with a power head (which I used a lot in the past but hated because of having to repack media all the time) One thing that I would like to see if they fixed is the seals. There was a small gap in the front where the media connected and a pretty big gap between the motor housing and the shield of the ADV that small fish and fry could get stuck in --- had to stick some polishing pads in them to prevent that.

    I ran a Fluval U4 for a long time just to keep a mobile, established, filter when I needed one. What a nightmare it was due to the 6+ suctions cups. Between the magnets, extremely accessible sections and the spray bar, I can’t figure out why someone WOULDNT buy one!

  • @victorfernandez6432

    i Got one of these and i like it but don´t be surprised, they clogg super fast due to the small intake where the sponge is placed right behind so the water can not go around the whole spongen! The good thing with this thou is that it makes it fry safe, maybe shrimp babys can be drawn in by the sucktion....

    Seems this filter is not what the hype was letting on, i purchased the pro 900 plus added another chamber but from what i have noticed it’s pointless, as stated each chamber works separately instead of the water entering at the bottom and working its way through all the chambers to the power head so all the chambers are doing each of there jobs correctly but this is not the case, having used this filter now for a month i took a look today only to find the last two chambers The two furthest from the power head are perfectly clean no mess or anything on the sponges or inside the chamber, second to the power head does show some dirt and the one closest to the power head is very dirty inside and out, so my question is how is this filter pump at all effective? It seems only the first and second chambers are doing anything, seems this filters design is flawed, have you guys noticed this issue, or is it a case of once the first two chambers get blocked up and stop working then the next ones will take over, kind of pointless.

    Sicce makes some of the best pumps in the business, but there is no way I'm spending $75 on a sponge filter. Sicce nailed the magnetic mounts, pump, and ease of access to the individual cubes and sponges. If you wanted to use it for anything other than mechanical filtration and a little cartridge for carbon, it failed in the filtration design. Their lack of staged filtration is a major flaw. Without it, you can not properly use bio-media without it becoming clogged and useless. They were on the right track with the Shark ADV where the water entered one end and exited the other going through stages of filtration, but it had issues with bypass. For the price, I would stick with the Shark ADV or simply use a large coarse, medium, or fine sponge filter fitted with a power head sized to your tank.

      Looks like you can only add biomedia cartridges to the 900. I wonder if the smaller ones can be modified by just adding biomedia where the middle sponge is? So yeah, it's a sponge filter attached to a power head. I do like the spray bar feature though, and it no doubt circulates wayyyy more than an air powered sponge.

      @@Maggie19701 Hello, Margie. Everyone must keep in mind that the Shark Pro was designed as an internal filter, with most internal filters being nothing more than mechanical filters. The Shark Pro is simply an overengineered sponge filter. You can not use bio-media or chemical media much the same way it would be used in HOB's and canister or drip filters due to the design of this filter. The flow of the water must first pass through coarse, medium, and fine or polishing sponges serving as dual mechanical and biological filtration to properly remove the various sizes of detritus, debris, and particles from the water, thus eliminating clogged bio-media putting the beneficial bacterial colonies at risk of die-off. If using chemical media, it would be the final stage of filtration to prevent it from prematurely clogging and needing to be replaced long before its chemical filtering properties are exhausted. You can use sponges as the only filter media any number of ways, but you can never use bio or chemical media without filtering the water before it comes into contact with it. It's a known process from the beginning of commercialized fishkeeping. I don't understand why the big guns haven't produced a working internal filter that can do more than mechanical filtration. I have made and am using working DIY internal staged filters using clear and black acrylic tubing with very affordable power heads so it can be done.

    • @davcar872
      @davcar872 2 роки тому +1

      @@red77ashley There wouldn't be enough sponge filtration for the bio media in the middle and the little amount of bio media fitting in the middle wouldn't be enough to make a noticeable difference.

    I have a couple of the Seachem by Siccie Tidal filters (55 & 35), and one thing that strikes me is the design. Yeh, they're about AU$20-30 more expensive than an average hang-on filter, but the design on them makes up for it. Every aspect is so well thought out. I was going to buy a Siccie Shark ADV, but I think I'll wait for the Pro to reach Australia after watching this.
