What is Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) and how does it work?

  • Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) is a technique used to enhance the precision of position data derived from satellite-based positioning systems (global navigation satellite systems, GNSS) such as GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, NavIC and BeiDou. It uses measurements of the phase of the signal's carrier wave in addition to the information content of the signal and relies on a single reference station or interpolated virtual station to provide real-time corrections, providing up to centimeter-level accuracy.

    The power of GPS is that if advance instrument can drive background sound to do almost anything even moving object. Rearrange furnisture or clean up the house , garden work ect or clean up after children with a click of a button

    That video is NOT a good description of how it works. The TEXT description touches on the actual method it uses:
    "It uses measurements of the phase of the signal's carrier wave"
    but fails to explain HOW it detects the phase of the wave, HOW such detection is used to calculate "correction data" to be sent to the rover, what that correction data looks like, and HOW it is used at the rover to produce centimeter-level accuracy of its position.

      @@TheRealCheckmate I wish I could. It's what I was looking to learn when I came across this video. I'm sure it's a video somewhere, just not this one. And I've since moved on to different projects not requiring RTK.

      This video is just about DGPS(differential gps) .
      RTK includes measuring the phase and no. Of wave cycles B/w the satellite and the reciever.

      I was under the understanding that certain ones can even provide millimeter level accuracy, can you explain what you mean by that? I've never heard anything other than the marketing terms
