Lizards and birds can live a long time in habitat, but not if the caretaker is a kid. Those are not cuddle buddies. They are delicate and require special knowledge to raise properly.
Yes, they're not typically suitable as pets for young children, as they need careful handling and attention to their specific needs. But with proper knowledge and commitment older kids might be able to do it.
I’m not convinced a fish is a good idea for very young children. The upkeep of keeping a fish tank clean and the water safe for the fish, would need parents of child to be heavily involved. To say a fish is suitable as a first time pet for a small children is a bit misleading don’t you think?
No. Because what parent thinks that they can just leave the upkeep of a pet in the hands of a young child? It should be understood that the parents are going to be heavily involved in the upkeep
This video is very disappointing. No pet is a 'starter pet' and especially when you said about the beta fish, they are just 'shelf pets' and if they die is easy to replace. EVERY PET matters and its not just replaceable, all pets deserve to be cared for properly. Ive had many of these pets and I will say all This information about how easy and simple they are is just wrong. If you don't know much about animals don't spread misinformation. With rats, Guinea Pigs and bunnies I currently have, I can confirm they are NOT EASY and if you think they are just simple pocket pets that is simply disappointing. And again, NO PET IS EASY OR A STARTER PET! CATS AND DOGS ARE HONESTLY EASIER TO TAKE CARE OF AS I HAVE A CAT AND A DOG TOO. DONT GET A PET IF YOU THINK IT WILL BE EASY. GETTING A PET IS NOT A SIMPLE DECISION! PLEASE DO YOUR RESERCH. IM VERY DISSAPOINTED.
Honestly I’ve been trying to look for a small pet that is quiet at night but still social during the day I felt like none that were over the age of 17 really fit that I want something small and cute not something big and scary your basic like a fish plus how come the 7 to 11 and the 3 to 5 for much longer than the 12 to 17 is they’re just not that many pets that fit somebody older I just want something cute that I can cuddle
you forgot the inland and coastal taipan i bet a little kid would love them:3 oh and king cobra, rattle snake, arizona coral snake and do not ever forget the boa constricter!
I have 2 house geckos but I want something that I am allowed to have under my moms roof which sucks because I kinda want a rat and she said no to that. But I want something that can be lovable towards me and can be a little independent
Yes, they can bite you by accident & mine (very young) do it all the time because I'm holding their food & they see my finger wiggle. It's funny, except the one time I had a fat, green juicy hornworm. My boy missed, got my finger & actually drew blood! Hornworms are like crack to beardies! So now, I just put them in a dish for him. 😂 😂
Budgies and Cockatiels are not easy pet idk about any other birds that that much as i never had one but i have budgies there are very vocal and mess and very sencitive + there cheap to get but expenive to own Cockatiels are very dusty and can be very vocal some times.
I have a tarantula and a budgie and oml they are both not good for youngkids. Tarantulas will prob scare them and they are very delicate. Budgies take months to tame and are also fragile. I would guess that cokateils are the same.
That's correct. Hermit crabs may seem like low-maintenance pets, but they actually have specific requirements and can be high maintenance, especially in terms of their habitat, diet, and overall care.
I have my doubts about this. A hamster is nocturnal and is awake when the kids are sleeping. Dragons and axolotls are not very fluffy nor cuddly and might disappoint kids. Chinchilla's need a lot of space and special food.
Yeah, I feel like hamsters are well-known for being the best pets for young kids, but that's not the case at all. I've been owning hamsters for 4 years and they are definitely a lot of work. Not to mention they're not cuddly at all and sleep during the day 😂
This video is just horrible and whoever wrote it is completely unaware of the care of most of the animals they mentioned. They really need to RESEARCH the animals they are referencing! Buy the kids STUFFED ANIMALS until they can buy the animals themselves! 👎
rabbits are NOT a good pet for 7-11 yr old rabbits need just as much care as a cat or dog need to do lots of research before getting one i’m 12 and i’ve had rabbits for 4 years but i made sure to do months of research before getting one and im still doing research because their is so much a person needs to know before getting a rabbit
Saying a hamster is a social pet, is not all true, and not all hamsters love being held, and they are nocturnal which means they may not suit your routine and you might not get to see them, and saying a hamster is for a young kids, no😒 they deserve better
Dude goldfish are NOT SIMPLE they need big tanks and are supposed to live for a long time this makes me so mad i am a teenager and have two lizards and a bunch of fish and i do research for at least 3 months before i get any pets also hermit crabs are supposed to live 15-20 years??? Betta fish need big tanks and the reason the fins spread out is because they are scared wtf also dude. Dude a parakeet, really bro… no animal is good for young kids unless they are extremely responsible and know a LOT of things about them also absolutely what the flippity flop bro bearded dragons are super intermediate and high matenence i have two lizards and i dont think im ready for one . Rats need to be kept in groups/pairs in massive tanks that need to be taken out a few times a day and need a lot of stuff to play with rabbits should not be given to kids but are better than the other options guinea pigs are just higher maintenance hamsters (still not for kids) and I’ve had gerbils before and they need to be kept in pairs with enough attention also that picture is not a gerbil…also they need to be fed the right food. Hamsters are not social lol do not keep them in pairs and do not like being held. Plz don’t get snakes for your kid unless they do enough research and are responsible. They need to be cleaned enough lol. Tortoises are so high maintenance and need lots and lots and lots of space with massive and complex enclosures. NEVER GET A HEAT ROCK FOR ANIMALS EVER PLEASE IT HURTS THEM and chinchillas are not for kids at all unless like i said before they are responsible.
Hermit carbs can live up to 50 years not 7-10 and they are alot of work
Cap

The kid should talk with their parents about it, research and think before getting a pet.
Charlie is a bearded dragon and she loves to cuddle and sleep on my chest and shoulders
IF DIE VERY EASY TO REPLACE😭💀like what

Yeah they are living beings they aren't accessories
@@balkrishnakanchani9371 yeah

My response: ME!!!😂
Who in the world said parakeets are not that loud and easy to manage😂

You left out de-fanged rattlesnakes! 🐍🐍🐍
The only good pet for a kid to take care of is a pet rock. All these animals have specific needs and are living things no pet is a “starter pet”
No hermit crabs are high maintenance and not for young children
That's correct. Hermit crabs may seem like low-maintenance pets, but they actually have specific requirements and can be high maintenance, especially in terms of their habitat, diet, and overall care.
