They're the poster child of what seems to be 'beautiful' in the West, so we came to some realizations while comparing it to their k-pop idol counterparts that we discussed in the last episode. I don’t think their changes are subtle as they think, especially Kim and Kylie. Your face shape, nose, and lips don’t just change to that extent. Great video, ladies!

      I agree, all you have to do is look at early Kim with Paris Hilton even then she had already gotten a nose job when she was a teen. I went to a private school like Kim's ALL the girls with "nose issues" got their noses done by 16 and their teeth done. Fat girls were sent to "fat camps". I think when parents are not in control of their kids they will do anything to be "the cool mom or dad". This all came from Kris pushing her own insecurities on her girls, not standing up to them, supporting the idea that beauty in Hollywood is everything. That is literally how they were raised. The sad thing is they are chasing a dragon. They changed their face so much earlier before their faces had a chance to develop and position itself that in their late 20's-40's they are trying to recapture their youthful faces that just don't have the structural bone foundation to support the flesh and SMAS. Kim's face it is really evident she has significant bone loss where her teeth are which caused the long distance between the lip and nose. Her fixing that was probably the best thing she has ever done for her face to improve her youth but is not congruent to the rest of the surgeries and fillers on her face. She has had if not a brow lift a badly done face lift and it makes the side of her face look wider like she is wearing a mask. Kylie looks like "Madame" the puppet too many nose, lip and cheek augmentations don't even get me started on her altered figure. Less is always more.

    The thing is since they are selling so much related to beauty they absolutely owe an explanation.

    I agree that it’s a slippery slope on where to stop even for us non-celebrities. I used to only do IPL for sun damage and broken capillaries. Then once the pandemic happened, I noticed that my eyebrows are noticeably uneven, so I got Botox to level them out. Now I’m thinking a bit of filler would even out the asymmetry in my top lip… 😂

    As a Korean American woman, I feel like I don’t quite fit the Korean or American beauty standard. Although, I tend to admire the beauty of Korean celebrities more. While I do use a lot of Korean skincare products, I would never get plastic surgery even if I could afford it. I’ll stick to diet, exercise, and beauty products.

    Honestly, I think the media propels people’s interest in celebrities’ surgery. I personally don’t care what celebrities get done, but I’m constantly bombarded with reels with plastic surgeons breaking down women’s faces and bodies with unconfirmed plastic surgery. For the surgeons, I’m pretty sure it’s self advertising. ‘Look at what I can do for you’ and jumping on body trends. I have no issue with women changing their bodies if they feel that strongly about it, but would they feel that strongly about it if the media wasn’t showing them an unreal beauty standard or constantly picking women apart? With the internet you don’t even have to be a celebrity to have random people commenting on your looks and publicly shaming you.
    Also, no one ever talks about the upkeep of having plastic surgery, esp breast implants. After 10 years you need to have them removed and redone. Some people also become chronically ill from the breast implants, or sometimes the implant leaks or breaks. NOT TO MENTION, it’s actually really hard on your back to have larger breasts. With Ozempic, there’s a current lawsuit because it can cause stomach paralysis, which is deadly and never advertised! I could literally write a ten-page paper about this stuff.
    Anyway, great video ladies and I hope it induces deeper thoughts on the matter.

    Loved this discussion video! I found it really interesting and you both make a lot of great points. I watched it on 1.75X-2X speed as I was as getting ready and it was perfect. Also love that Row included the If You Give a Mouse a Cookie 🍪🐭reference 😄. I haven’t seen/read that book since elementary school but at soon as you mentioned it I could imagine the cover of the book. I never would have thought to compare that to skincare or procedures but it’s so true. I don’t watch the Kardashians but of course I hear all the drama and stories about them so it was kinda nice getting the highlights from Fel about it without having to watch it 😆

    I agree that people go too far. Kylie with her nose job and first set of lips was pretty, but she just kept going and going. Kim has been more restrained with her face I think, but all of them just keep doing more and more. And it’s a vicious cycle because the public is never satisfied, and since their popularity is their 💶 they are also never satisfied.

    My biggest issue with the Kardashian/Jenners and a lot of their followers is the cultural appropriation and disrespect to BIPOC people who were discriminated against. Their beauty looks are not original. They’re emulating (mostly) black culture- a culture that is still discriminated against for those same bodies that are natural to them.
    While I absolutely do agree that the amount of scrutiny they get is too much, they started it. They built their media career on their appearance and their lives and behavior. Kris Jenner is the one that allowed this to happen to her daughters when they were children. This was not an accident.

      @gayathrivaidy Місяць тому

      By your logic then African women shouldn't straighten their hair ?
      Cultural appropriation is NOT the problem here. Them promoting unattainable beauty standards is the issue.

    • @TheKhaliente
      @TheKhaliente 9 днів тому

      @@gayathrivaidyPoor argument, straight hair is not exclusive to Caucasians, my black grandmother has straight hair no chemicals. Going further because clearly you don’t know, natural curly hair for black women was deemed unprofessional for decades and is still stigmatized, so women have gotten so use to wearing straight hair to maintain income, you still see them practicing straight hair as an aesthetic because of this. Straight hair is not cultural appropriation more like cultural discrimination by forcing Eurocentric beauty standards on a culture to allow entry into the workforce. The Kardashians/Jenners have participated in cultural appropriation and commodified it. All of the sisters that have dated or had children with black men do it, they do it to fit the aesthetic of their partners. Note that now that none of those sisters are currently dating black men their aesthetic has changed. Cultural appropriation is still an issue with them even if it doesn’t impact you, and it doesn’t take away from them creating unattainable beauty standards. Two things can be true.

    I think Kendall has had her belly button tighten too, or they just had liposuction surgery through their belly buttons and it never went back to the way it used to look, and she had to say something about it because people would have noticed either way.

    I like the fact that even if they have done something on themselves, still they give us a message to not be insecure about ourselves (i mean that they have launched their own beauty brands).
    I mean to say that we should look at the positive side too.
    Btw, I love ur videos and also thanku for making us realise what’s real in every context :)

      I think it took them too long to say that though. They dominated the public’s eye for beauty for over a decade. They were lying about surgeries then bragging about surgeries that are unattainable to most people.

    Ownership/honesty is important for the management of expectations.
    Made up example: knowing that she gets a weekly $2000 procedure that makes her pores virtually disappear makes me feel a little better about the state of my skin 😅 it also tells me that some $100 product she’s promoting probably isn’t the reason her skin looks like that.
    I think it’s easier to accept that she was *built* like that with an amount of money that most of us will never see in our lifetime, not born like that-it takes the burden off us as the consumer. It helps us understand that no cream, no exercise program, no juice cleanse will achieve the same results because that’s not what she used to get her results.
