- To get considered for Spotify's editorial playlists, you need to submit to the curators. But with 40,000 new songs being released every single day on Spotify, how do you cut through the noise? The secret is having a great pitch and I'll show you exactly how you need to fill out the Spotify Curators form.

Also, sorry for being a little slow on the comment replies lately. There have been so many and I'm going to get through them all I promise!
Sir how can i send my music to Spotify playlists which is already released on spotify .....
Congrats on your channel. Good content and as of now, as you can see congrats on your 73.3k Followers, that's the result of a good work man !!! All the best.
Hey Ryan, not only I like your tutorials, but mainly, I have just listened to your two singles on SPOTIFY and I was surprised how talented artist you are. Despite being rapper, I really enjoyed listening to your song Taking Over Me -- it's a really good stuff all over!!!
Thanks for walking us through your process and mindset. Very helpful and awesome watching you go through it. I'm in the process of submitting my own for consideration, and your video helped me out tremendously. Great track btw. Going to Spotify to listen to it fully!
Terrific video, very informative; have to check out the rest!
Very informative! Thanks for making this vid!
Thanks so much, can't wait to watch how to prepare an EPK! respect brother
This video ićhas not helped me in my music career, but I'll still like it. Good content. Thank you.

Great content!! thanks so much for these vids
My pleasure!
Great informative video...!!!
This is great information
Very helpful!
Thanks very helpful. I have written two albums and posted on You Tube but hopefully this helps get my music out.
Thanks man, great videos!
Thanks so much! :)
Really nice video! Do you think realistically that if we submit only 3 weeks prior to our release date that we have any serious chance of getting on the playlist if we already know that the song is very catchy and in high demand? Thank you!
Hi Ryan! Thanks for the video! I watched your video when I submitted to Spotify! It's still in review, so fingers crossed that it will be added!
How did it work out? I'm submitting today
How do u know if it accepted
the instrument list is pretty rubbish as it misses two of my main instruments. Kind of annoying as thats the most important thing about my music. very helpful video thank you
Great video. I'm about to go through the release of a new single, and I'll definitely use this vid to help pitch to Spotify curators. It's currently Sept. 2021...is there anything new you might add to this video or do you have an updated version? Any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I put you in my Spotify playlist! Dig your tunes! :D
bro whatttt there is clearly an acoustic guitar on your track.
ps: thank you so much for the tutorial :)
how many time before the release do you recommend to submit the track?
Just Subbed Man🙌
Awesome! Send an email to Support@IndieMusicAcademy.com if you have further questions!
Thank you for all the valuable info you gave me Ryan! Kind of a weird situation (for me at least)...
I pitched my very first 'single' last week and noticed today in spotify for artists, that 'source of streaming' is showing 1% of 'editorial playlists'. However, when I go to playlists I only see it's been added to playlists from spotify users. Any clue why that is? All of this is so new to me as I just started out, so maybe I'm missing something?
Thank you, S.
So did the song get picked up by Spotify editorial?
that's what I wanna know too!
Is there any way you could do a tutorial for cdbaby users? Or tips
How do u know if ur accepted to a list ?
So did that pitch work?
how do you put your song before release or it's is after distribution of your song does it mean your will automatic go Spotify and do your playlist
I am about to release a live album. In this album, there are 2 unreleased tracks that I would like to submit further down the line to Spotify editors when I finish the studio recording. I know you can’t submit a track to Spotify editors once it’s been live on the platform before. Do you think that would also apply to my studio version after my live album is out?
You should be able to. Every new recording can be submitted even if it's the same song. New versions count.
i need help how to do the playlist curators any advice i have my 400 followers i need to know how to set up my curators account to start getting paid and to know if I have 400 active followers
How can I submit an issue to the community?
I'm making a song hopefully it gets accepted!
Ok but how do you get the song to appear on the upcoming tab?
When I upload tracts through distrokid I never see my newest song in the upcoming songs section before it goose live how can I fix that
How do you submit a song that has been released?
Your top city is Santiago, Chile and I'm from there! hi 👋🏻
Hello there! ❤️
😁🤞
These options doesn't appear to me at all. My upcoming page is empty and there is nowhere an option to submit a song or anything.
remember that your music can delay up to 5 working days until it is on spotify upcoming platform because of your distributor! keep that in mind when choosing the date of release too :)
when submitting to spotify u have to do it at least a week before your song comes out. u cant do it for a song u put out already.
Can I do that without a release date? I am using distrokid $19 plan
I was searching for this
Hi Ryan. I know this is not the same as what you're doing here but can you tell me , If I'm pitching to independent Spotify curators before the release of my single , Do I use my pre-save link as the URL I give to them when they ask for 'Spotify song link? or is there some hidden place to get the URL before its released? I've already done what you're doing here so that's covered. Great video. Thank you
Hey John! Some distributors are able to get you your Spotify link before the day of the release, but what I've found is that most curators can't do anything until the song is live on Spotify anyways! (How can they add a song to a playlist if it's not out yet, right?). So sending in your Spotify song link the day it comes out is what I've been doing and it doesn't affect the speed in which your song gets placed since playlisters can't really "work ahead". Just send them a preview link (soundcloud or dropbox) so they can listen to the song ahead of time and then let them know that you'll send the Spotify link in the day of release.
Others might know of a more fancy way of getting this done, but this has worked for me! Hope it helps :)
@@IndieMusicAcademy Hi Ryan . Thanks for replying. Yes i had a good look around to see if I could get the Url from Distrokid but you are right ,its only really available on the day it goes live . Sending them a link to SoundCloud or Bandcamp in my case ,Id never thought of that since they're like competition. Ive only got another week before release so ill hang on until then . Thanks very much for your help . Take care
2:15 I can't even get to that. Under upcoming I just have the learn more and I can't upload anything? I'm guessing I have to do something elsewhere first to get what you have under the upcoming tab?
I saw someone else commenting about it as well. he said it has to do with the plan you choose, he used distrokid 20 dollar license and said thats the problem. if you get a more expensive plan it will work, but i dunno, didnt test it yet
@@daanholtke6520 I have the $20 distro kid!🤣 If upgraded then it would work???
@@Disheartened6 Well the 35 one gives you the option the set the release date, which results in having a ''upcoming release'', so yes I believe so... But besides that, if i were you I should check this vid first. Ive changed my mind about distro kid because of it... ua-cam.com/video/eYUknhwd1Y8/v-deo.html
@@daanholtke6520 I have actually seen that video🤣I've done a lot of research. The only thing I don't like is that it's hard to reach someone if I have a problem. Do you have distrokid??
@@Disheartened6 Nope I did all my research about finding the right distributor for my first single. And I decided to go with CDbaby. It sucks they take 9% of your earnings, but it's my first I don't expect to many streams. Besides that, a lot of features on CDBaby are free, like the instastories and stuff, which distrokid askes more money for.
The main reason for my decision is the fact that when you run into a problem, CDbaby fixes it, instead of fcking you over and over like distrokid.. with cdBaby you can actually talk to a person to get support (according to others the support is great). I also dont like to pay $35 a year for the rest of my life... 35 isnt much for a year but imagine being alife for 70 years still, that will be 2.450 just for keeping it online (since they leave a legacy seems not working). With CDbaby you do a onetime payment and they keep it on there forever.
this made me decide to go with CDbaby, im going to release something next week
I am still not getting the mail from Spotify that says "I can submit to curators". What should I do?
hi, is it possible to make a pitch for already released music? I didn't do it as I was not aware of this option. Any other hint how to get on any playlists after music release. Thanks
No you can't unfortunately, but there is a workaround by releasing a "Alternate Mix" version of the song or an "Acoustic" version, or even a "Deluxe" or "Single" version of the song. Just change something small and re-release the song again. That's what I would do.
Thank you! This was helpful. The form looks a little different now but it was still pretty easy to follow along.
How exactly do you submit a song to 3rd party playlisters? Because it seems like that would be important as well, to where you can get more streams, right? Thanks
There are many ways, here's a video covering the options: ua-cam.com/video/MtR7b6QGAeU/v-deo.html
And another useful video with more tactics: ua-cam.com/video/lb1S1kw5PpA/v-deo.html
How to submit
how long do you have to wait before seeing the song under upcoming ?
Great question, shoot us an email Support@indiemusicacademy.com if you'd like, I can provide more details there!
@@IndieMusicAcademy thank you for the reply ! I figured it out, depends on the publishing company you release through
mines not working
Hey I have a question.
I've heard they only let you do this if your song isn't released yet...so how do you do that? Is it only certain distributors that let you set a future release date?
Sounds like you might be using Distrokid? They don't let you set a release date, but most other Distributors (especially the more expensive ones like CD Baby and AWAL) will let you do more advanced release set-ups.
So what I did is I set my song to be released one month after I uploaded to my distributor. Then about a week later, Spotify receives the song (but it still doesn't come out for 3 more weeks).
It is during that time where you are able to do the process I describe in this video.
Hope that helps!!!
Yes thank you for the quick response! I don't have a distributor yet, I'm still shopping around.
It sounds like this would work with any service that let's you set a release date?
nealkriesterer correct!!!!!
Very cool. Thank you for running such a helpful channel
@@IndieMusicAcademy They actually do let you set a release date with DistroKid, you have to get the more expensive plan though.
It is possible to Submit a song that is Already on Spotify or is just with upcoming Songs?
Just upcoming 🙏✨
Do u have to do this on pc ??? Music doesn’t show on my phone

This is crazyy bruh!!!
By following you, I learned many things, I watched many videos of yours and finally released my song on distrokid recently few days ago. It's in my channel, do check it out and let em know the feedback.
From producing to uploading my music, everything was done by watching your videos. Really I got motivated and did something. Way to go!!
Keep uploading videos like this and supporting us! 🙏
Thank you.
Sam my man! Thanks so much for the kind comment, it totally blows me away that the channel has helped so much. Congratulations on the new release! It sounds great and you deserve to be proud for acting on your dream and overcoming every obstacle to get it done. Bravo!
And, is this a successfully tried and tested method? You don't appear to be on any Spotify Editorials, in fact, only paid-for playlists that run fake streams through your songs. Hoping you can shine some light on this since you're teaching as an industry leader.
Good question. This is something that you build up over time as well. You can't expect every unknown artist to simply fill out a form and then magically appear on Spotify Editorials. There are thousands of factors in addition to what I shared in the video so I don't even think it's reasonable to even expect there to be a "tried and true method" to this ever. Your social media engagement, the number of releases you have, and your stream counts on previous songs are all WAY more important factors. But it all means nothing without following the steps in this video because this is the gateway to make all that possible (that's why I made this video). Yes, I'm not on any Spotify editorial playlists. I only have two songs out. I don't expect to be for a while. But an artist that is further in their career than I am could find that all they need to do is fill out this form and find success.
And lastly, these are not bot plays. If they were, I'd be banned from Spotify already. Check out my other video explaining this here: ua-cam.com/video/OCjybsPNdgE/v-deo.html
And here: ua-cam.com/video/MtR7b6QGAeU/v-deo.html
@@IndieMusicAcademy Thanks for the detailed response! And best of luck to you with future releases!
@@danieljack660 You got it my man! Thanks for asking some good questions!

dude the first chords of your song are an acoustic guitar playing a chord

Sir I think u spelled creators wrong
Spotify playlists get "curated" by "curators"
Why does dude always shave for the thumbnail, don't do it my g
