I tested it on Dead Cells, Mario Kart, Smash Bros. & Rocket League and it works perfectly. The only issue I had was getting used to button placement due to the extra ‘S’ button.
It’s not a good idea to advertise a controller being made for only one game and one game only in my opinion because what’s the point if it isn’t compatible with the entire library? I feel that Retro Fighters for as much as I admire those guys I feel they dropped the ball with advertising it’s only for Smash. HORI is also guilty of this with their Pokkén pad. People don’t buy a controller to use it with one game, they use it with a specific set of games (aka genre) to use it on like how I use a Saturn controller for fighting games. I still find it a slap in the face that Nintendo forgot to add compatibility to all games on the Wii U with the GameCube adapter, it’s more like a turnaway point than a selling point.
Very good point. I felt that even though Smash is a VERY big game for Nintendo, but it seems a bit late to develop a controller for a game that’s nearly 3 years old. It like making a controller specifically for Breath of the Wild. Lol. Albeit it does work great with other games but like I mentioned in the video I feel that my fingered felt lost on the controller at times. The added S button really wasn’t needed IMO, I’m not a good Smash player by any means but those who know how to short hop ie. players who this controller is marketed for (pro players or non novice players) don’t require a button that is solely meant to do so. I think that a home key button would help solve my lost fingers.
Love the look of these controllers 👌
Nice review mate!
They are pretty solid. The Striker DC is the only one that feels a bit on the cheaper side. While the others have a slight heft to them.
Awesome review Mike! That is a weird placement for the S button
I feel the same. I think it should’ve been on the left of the X button.
Great review, looks like a great controller.
Thanks, it feels pretty solid. I just wish that the S button was shifted to the other side of the X button.
The controller definitely has a cool nostalgic look to it, but my main concern is how well would it work with games that aren’t like Smash.

@@TheRetrollectors good to know, I may look into this controller then.
@@Tyler16bit it’s fairly cheap and the build quality is pretty solid too.
How do the buttons feel though? Is it spongier than the GameCube controllers? Is there more travel distance?
Ya they are spongier than than GC but still feel great. I feel the travel distance is way less than the GC buttons. Great questions.
