I am a firm advocate for the term Top-Down replacing '2D' Zelda Ever since alttp the games have worked on a layer system, for a example the castle in alttp where you jump down ledges to traverse the dungeon. Even though graphically the games used 2 dimensional sprites, gameplay wise you navigated in a rudimentary 3d form. Even items like the rocs feather/cape let you specifically jump over obstacles and gaps. These are a few examples of 3D being present in previous top down entries. This is more apparent in the remake of links awakening, where the original vision for the world is better shown with its cliff sides. Functionally the map is the exact same as the Gameboy version. 3d elements are present in every game after Zelda 2. Which makes the term 2D feel shallow and superficial. What is similar between these games is the top down camera view. The fixed camera angle is what gives it its signature feel, and where top down is the same amount of syllables as 2d, I advocate it's the superior term. Sadly, I can't convince everyone to swap, but for now I'll continue to say top down.
Ngl, im happy people are hyped but this just is too much like totk and botw. The amount of freedom it seems we have almost certainly seems like its gonna kill the actual puzzle of dungeons and general puzzles. As a zelda fan of 10 yrs i think im gonna skip it sadly
Been a Zelda fan for 18 years. (Became a fan with TPs release) I’ve come to terms that Zelda I’ve been a fan of is basically dead. Hate the sandbox stuff. It sucks even more that this version of hyrule this new game takes place in looks awesome. But it’s no fun for me with all the bullshit sandbox stuff. I hope I’m wrong tho
I have mixed opinions on whether I’m excited for this game or not. I think the world it takes place in looks awesome - I hate the fact that it’s gonna be another fucking sandbox Zelda.
@@knatkniht right. They could’ve make a new IP and run with this style of game. There’s obviously a big market for it.. But nope. They went and ruined my favorite damn video game series
Proud of Grezzo, they have come so far since OoT 3D ! Developing a mainline entry of the Zelda series is no small feat
I hope that one day they will create unique IP like they did on the 3DS with Ever Oasis (really good one). 😁
This went beyond my expectations
Is it an open world or linear stage?

@@jtx96 zelda just doesnt work with the sandbox stuff, its too far from what zelda was
@@Carito-000 it’s at least reassuring to know there’s other fans out there that feel the same 👍🏼 I’m tired of these glazers
It does seem to be a sort of 2d totk, which is really unfortunate, because totk is really poorly designed.

@@jtx96 Yeah atp the series is zelda in name only
