Well said Matt at the end, I fell for his father as my father went through it. Dad came through but at same time we lost our next door neighbour Gordon to different cancer (lung) he was passionate about farming. Gordon was in partnership with our family, it make keep my head up when time get tough and with passion for farming anything possible to over come. 👍

Well, I have been entering the yield contest since 1960's and know the heart break. Our contest field of P1366 had very good conditions this year hoping to make over 300 on the Western High Plains even starting July with with 107 temps. We put 900 lbs of 32-0-0 through the sprinkler and still had no extra soil N 10 days from black layer.

The cards have been played! Our contest part of the field made the same as the rest of the 1/2 mile circle. No matter what we do. We planted 36K over 33. We put 40 lbs extra N and 15% more water and still had the same results. The reliable P1311 made some better. The perfect leaf tests showed more than enough fertility and still no more than 300 bu. yield.

We put 200lb broadcast in spring and 2 passes of Roundup...that's it. 29k seed pop and 30 inch rows. So if we're doing so little and getting 150bu across the field with some spots pushing 220...no irrigation. So it's all soil type and rain.

400 bushels whats your motivation GREED you created a weak wall that Nature
Knock over .Lower you cost of operation an plant less an at the end of the year
    you will be farther ahead.

Don Mealey's Hunting Channel how is making more bushels and getting a higher return on investment greed? This guy is the best in the world at growing corn. If you grow anything, you should take notes from David Hula.
