    Just before the pandemic happened, I had this music playing when I was in Sumida City, Tokyo, Japan at the Oshiage Hotel when I first visited Japan. I proposed to my then-girlfriend now wife that day on Nov. 3 *(JST). My family was there in that apartment we rented from that AirBNB, we all had breakfast from the 7Eleven just down the street where we were staying and I'll never forget the look on my fiancée's face when I asked her. Time stopped and both of us being fans of the Chrono series it just felt so amazing. Every time I hear Radical Dreamers I think of our honeymoon when we danced together just us two.....
    Thank you Yasinori Mitsuda for both the childhood memories and adult memories as a grown man, for making my dreams come true.

      "Accomplished" is such a great word to use to describe games like CC and for that matter Xenogears. Getting the perfect ending required a lot of dedication and work and the story was blended into the busy work of the game! Now a days you still have video game busy work but you get a "skin" or a "legendary weapon". It's little more than a marketing gimmick to try to get people to spend more money on a game. Games like CC are art! They inspired the "feels" you talked about. They were journeys that felt like your avatar (main character) and your avatars companions had gone through an adventure grander than they could have imagined when their journey started.

    I hid that trembling light in my young hands
    I've traveled this far, wandering the abyss of time

    Times catches deep in its arms both love and pain
    And erases them, but I remember them
    And always will...

    Yotsuyu no shizuku yori mo kasuka na sasayaki dakedo
    It's reverberated deep in my breast for I know not how long...
    Though it's a whisper fainter than a drop of evening dew
    Itetsuku hoshi no yami he tsumugu inori ga

    Reach all the way to your distant sky...

      Yeah, something about the children's voices to this song really gets me... maybe a touch of the innocence of the hero[in]es' dreams and the events that transpired across both games? Whatever it might be, this is my very favorite cover of this beautiful song, siiiiigh......

    • @Dextroyfuller
      @Dextroyfuller 4 роки тому +7

      @@MrLinkolin I feel the same way. The junior choir's voices are so pure and innocent... They really emphasize how syllabic the vocal melody is, how the even the notes themselves sound like the earnest voice of a young child. When you take that together with the lyrics, which describe someone searching time and space to reconnect with someone dear to them, it's like the song is saying that the essence of life, when it isn't tied down by age and location, is a value that children inherently understand and embody: the need to connect. That's why the ending harmonies get to me as well: it's like the child in us is crying out, trying to reach out as far as it can, for someone to listen -- and the harmonies illustrate how this is the strongest, most all-encompassing emotion of all.

    Its awesome that the Japanese clearly take a lot of pride in some of the better video games that have come from their country. Video games don't get enough respect in the USA as legitimate works of art (perhaps more so in recent years than in the past, but still not nearly enough).

    • @Mlai00
      @Mlai00 7 років тому

      I watched the FF XV prequel movie Kingsglaive. Loved it, all psyched to check out what the game is about... What I saw was... a sorta-generic but pretty cool and likable hero protag (in Kingsglaive) dying epically in order to make the way for a... snotty Japanese Boy Band punk who I want to punch in the face in the first 5 seconds of the post-credits where I saw him and his equally facepunch-inducing entourage.
      All interest in FF XV lost.

    • @EvanYoungMusic
      @EvanYoungMusic 7 років тому +2

      Then you obviously didn't understand the premise of FFXV... They grow up to become who they were born to be. The trio of the brotherhood all become Kingsglaive in the final act of the game and Noctis grows up and earns his right to ascend the throne.

    • @Mlai00
      @Mlai00 7 років тому +1

      Plot details is irrelevant to the likability of the main character(s). Maybe you still like teenage Japanese edgelord punks. I don't.
      You obviously didn't grasp the point of my post. I was pondering on the drastic difference in archetype between the hero of the movie and the hero of the game; they seem to be aiming for 2 diametrically different target audiences. I suppose that is a failure of the movie, since the game came first.

    I feel a great sense of gratitude that I was exposed to Chrono Trigger and later Chrono Cross, in my now rather distant youth.
    The profound storytelling and creative merit that the creators of these "mere" video games have contributed much in my personal development, my belief systems, outward worldview, philosophical inclinations, the appreciation of wonder and a deep reverence for the mysteries of this life - and this is not an extensive list.
