Russian vocabulary for beginners! Welcome to my new series of lessons "Russian Vocabulary in Use" that will help you grow your Russian vocabulary and improve speaking skills.
Each lesson will be dedicated to a specific topic: around the house, transport, emotions, money, etc. The most important thing - these Russian lessons are interactive! It means you'll have to answer my questions out loud. You already know how much I love the TPRS method in teaching Russian. The principle here is the same. Short and simple questions and answers in Russian. I hope you enjoy!
Here is the full transcript of what I was saying in the video. Please, don't just read it. Be active! Pick some useful phrases, write them down, learn them, and start using them while speaking Russian (even if it's just to yourself yet).

You’re beautiful and we all value your caring, human approach to teaching us Russian. I’ve gone from zero 2 months ago to SO much more, you encourage me to explore on my own (google translate though I’m not sure about the voice they use, not expressive like you!) movies, other. Yet you demand a lot of us in a GOOD way. I really feel you’re my Russian teacher. You pronounce things repeatedly also, unlike other channels. I can’t stop! Thank you! And for your effort with all the materials.

Absolute beginner finding this type of video really helpful- good clear and slow pronunciation means I can pick up just some of your words and relate them to what I’ve learnt so far which is: up to your lesson 4 and starting with Leitner box vocab learning 10 words per day😲. It’s early days with this vocab method but I liked your Russian friends take on this so I’m giving it a go. Thank you Daria- I’ve added 5 new “bathroom” words to my Leitner box😇

A great idea for a lesson, but the camera needs to be more stable. People like myself who are sensitive to motion sickness can get really sick if the camera bounces, turns or changes focus too much.
A gimbal will help greatly. Another approach would be to set up a stationary "scene", and then speak over it. Even if you have to sketch it out beforehand in a notebook. For example: set the camera up on a tripod in the doorway then walk and point at where you want people to focus their attention. Then change the camera position to in front of the sink etc.
Your arms won't get so tired and you don't have to worry so much about cramped spaces this way either.
I hope this helps and you don't find it offensive. I am loving your Zero to Fluency course and your weekly book reading. Thank you so much Daria.

Wow Daria, that was awesome. This is exactly what I have been needing for a long time. Very simple vocabulary (with subtitles), lots of repetition, only one theme, and I especially liked the way you showed the various objects and actions and demonstrated as you explained. This is the first time I have actually started to understand while listening. After a few times I turned off the subtitles and I could understand. I was ready to give up on learning Russian because there is not one single Russian speaking person in my town to practice with. This was the right level of difficulty (super simple) for me.
Is this video a representation of what is in the vocabulary booster course? This is the level I need for a while to get used to understanding and slowly build vocabulary. Eventually I will be able to do more difficult lessons if they increase in difficulty very gradually.

Darla it was letters for a small vulgarity. You're one of those very classy Russian women that don't use such language anyway. Just let it pass and don't teach it to Roma.

I liked this video. Being that I'm still having trouble pronouncing words it would be better to have more Russian text.

Hi Daria, thanks, that´s great learning material. But here a point... what I´m really looking for is a lesson like this but additionally the translation, too ! I.e.: the spoken text (optimally along with pictures, videos, like you do), then the written text in Russian, plus the written text in English. Of-ourse one cannot expect everything for free... do you have such kind of teaching material, or know about sources? For free, or in pay version?
Because.. the funny thing is... I got your emails... there were pdf´s with Russian text + English translation: great but no audio. Then there were books read out loud: but no translation, and not slow enough ! Also, you have slowly-spoken texts which is great but then there was missing the written text, or maybe the translation... -> so I found that I need it read out loud, slow enough, with written text, in Russian, and in English; and optimally, with video... that would be the most helpful material for me ! 😉
P.S. edit... I wonder if the book that you present right above in the first posting may be just that what I´m looking for... ! Not entirely sure how that book works... and the QR codes...

Dear Daria, I would like to ask you a question. Is this a specific accent of russian? That is, an accent specific to a certain region? If I'm not mistaken, you were born in Siberia. Do people speak differently in Moscow or Saint-Petersburg? Don't get me wrong, you do have the cleanest pronounciation I've heard so far, and I am basing my own one on yours ahaha For example, I've noticed that you always stress the difference between Ш and Щ, and one can clearly distinguish the j sound in the Йs. I was wondering wether this is your actual way of speaking or just a teaching habit. Just curious, I hope this doesn't come out as rude or anything.
