Love your vids thanks. Your choice; aluminum Bison vs aluminum Apex? I'm 81 yrs young and born on Flushing. Now in Wisconsin. Just back to wet shaving 10 months ago. I love HAGS. Have you tried ASTOR BIC from Greece. TIGER PLATINUM, TiGER SUPERIOR Steel, both from Czech Republic For me of the 7 razors I have these are great regardless of the different gaps. Just sold my Aylsworth Drakkant Brass, tired of cleaning the black spots that Brass collects Although I dried. Patina yes but for me no. Be well and always look forward to your great reviews.
Thank you, I appreciate that. No I never tried the Astor Bic before. Hags is really good, planning to pick up Barberwood which will be coming out soon. I think I prefer the bison over the Overlander because it’s a little more efficient. Less passes. Appreciate you watching.
The Awakening was todays shave for me. The EDP is amazing as well. Lasts 12+ hrs. If im not mistaken I believe "The Awakening" is inspired by Tom Ford "Bitter Peach".
I've been stalking that razor for a few weeks now, and hesitant to "double up" the Henson Mild that I already have. Finally pulled the trigger a few hours ago.
@@justinschroeder one of many for me. I have a lot of razors that I use regularly. Apex Rockwell 6S and one blade razors would make for great choices for daily drivers
@ I have 30 razors in my den Rockwell 6s is one of my favorites it’s like a Swiss Army knife of razors. What plate on the Rockwell would compare to your Apex?
Yeah, Mike, this is definitely the best aluminum razor I have used. And I have used many!! It hits all the right performance measures for me! Keep up the awesome work!!
Thanks for the review Mike! Glad you're equally impressed with the APEX-AL as you were with the SS version. I think I share your take on it, in that it's more than efficient enough to get you there in 2 passes + pickups, but a little more of a autopilot shave where you can buff a bit more without fear of over shaving. Have yourself a fantastic weekend and keep up the awesome content 🙏
That’s Kaleb, it’s so good, it’s funny initially I thought the APEX aluminum was the exact same specs as the Stainless but it’s not obviously but still they offer a very similar shave as if they are the same if that make sense. Really great job dialing them both in. They are impressive.
Ohh it’s such a good razor, someone told me that the Apex Aluminum is a similar shave to the Overlander. I guess you can be the judge of that. Similar specs.
Received mine in the post today , here in the UK. Went for exactly the same colour as you, Black & Red . I must say the fit, finish and anodising is top quality with no machine marks whatsoever, just flawless 👌 First shave with it tomorrow..
I didn’t realize the blade gap and blade exposure DIFFER on the APEX depending on whether it is aluminum or SS. The SS version is more aggressive. Same specs as PLUS plate on Kopparkant and Drakkant.
The Karve Overlander - aluminum has very similar specifications. It has a blade gap of 0.73 mm blade gap with a blade exposure of 0.07 mm. The Overlander is my ONE and only razor.
I like this one vs the SS version as to me the SS one is a little too much blade feel. As of all of the aluminum razors I own, it is definitely top two
The both offer a very similar experience but I would say the Stainless takes it up multiple notches and the AL may be better for the every day shave. Both both are good to have in my opinion
The Aylsworth Kopparkant and the Drakkant (original plate) have a blade gap of 0.73 mm with neutral blade exposure. The PLUS plate has a blade gap of 0.99 mm with a blade exposure of 0.125 mm. If you prefer the Apex to the Drakkant, I assume it is because you prefer a little blade exposure, assuming you are referring to the original plate and not the plus plate. I prefer a little blade exposure and would not buy a razor with neutral blade exposure. Of course, everyone has their preferences.
Yes for me I absolutely prefer more blade feel. So I comparison the Apex definitely does the job for me. Never tried them Kopparkant. That’s the razor I was trying to think of in my review.

Just found your channel from the shave dad page, I love it. Shaving videos are some of my favorite to fall asleep to. Keep up the great work!

I just picked up Apex Stainless awesome razor!
I love that razor, it’s a great one to start with.
Is it your daily driver?

Right? It’s not an exaggeration to be that blown away by it. I agree it’s definitely the best aluminum I have ever used for sure. Thanks David
Excellent shave Mike! The Apex is a sweet looking 🪒
It really is a nice looking razor that actually shaves well also. Very pleased with it.

Beauty shave Mike. I haven’t used my aluminum yet, but the SS is definitely a favorite of mine!

That’s awesome to hear, you’re absolutely going to enjoy this razor. Very confident to highly recommend it. Enjoy.
Great shave Mike. I’ve been loving my SS APEX, a deceptively smooth shaving razor despite its gap and exposure. Have a great weekend!
I would guess the APEX is similar to the OVERLANDER. Their specs are very close. Would you agree?
@@robertross8565 they feel pretty similar, but on paper the APEX has a lot more gap and exposure, I love them both.
I reviewed the specs again and you’re correct. The APEX has a larger blade gap and blade exposure than the Overlander.
@@robertross8565 that it does, but it shaves surprisingly smooth for its specs.

Damn, I watch these videos and there are too many soaps I want to get. This one sounds great. Thanks for the info great video.
Great video. The Apex sound too much blade feel for me. I do have the Drakkant and geta a good shave from it. Have a great weekend.👍
It’s really not that bad but you may have heard it. The Drakkant is definitely more on the mild aide for sure.
The Karve Overlander - aluminum has very similar specifications. It has a blade gap of 0.73 mm blade gap with a blade exposure of 0.07 mm. The Overlander is my ONE and only razor.
The Overlander is one I have been having my eye on. I hear it’s very good.
It’s a beauty. Extremely well made and finished.
I've got Overlander and Apex, Apex shaves way better.
SS Apex or aluminum?
How would you compare the Wizamet Super Iridium blade vs. the Gillette Platinum?
For me, Wizamets are way smoother than the Gillette platinum’s.
I agree with that both are good choices but I prefer the Wizamets
I like this one vs the SS version as to me the SS one is a little too much blade feel. As of all of the aluminum razors I own, it is definitely top two
How’s the efficiency of this version compared to the SS Apex. I know they have different blade gaps but is there much of a difference between the two?
@@brennanapostolo7870 not a substantial difference but the Stainless Apex is definitely more efficient yet still vet smooth
Nicely done MIke🪒🪒
Thank you 🙏🏻
Apex AL6063 is a great razor.
Is had to pick only one, Apex Aluminum or Karve Bison?
I would say the Apex aluminum. Little more efficient
Thanks for chiming in JMac. Hope things are going well for you in the fine province of Prince Edward Island.
JMAC is good people. Always very helpful
Great shave, I am waiting on mine to arrive. Would you lean towards the AL or SS given you have both in the den?
The both offer a very similar experience but I would say the Stainless takes it up multiple notches and the AL may be better for the every day shave. Both both are good to have in my opinion
Old comment, but there’s a standard plate for the SS now which has same gap/exposure as the AL, I’m pretty sure.
The Aylsworth Kopparkant and the Drakkant (original plate) have a blade gap of 0.73 mm with neutral blade exposure. The PLUS plate has a blade gap of 0.99 mm with a blade exposure of 0.125 mm. I want to see review on Stando razors from Poland please
Never heard of them but will definitely take a look. Thanks for watching
That label is awesome!...
It sucks that I can't use citrus based soaps, but I am starting to enjoy smelling like a drunken tree fire!...😅
Thanks Brett, the label is definitely killer. I appreciate you brother thanks for sending this my way.
That aluminum looks great. On my “to get” list!
Well worth it Glenn, by the way I happed to have picked up the Velocity One. Now an owner, wife doesn’t know yet. 😂
