Many thanks to Sajal Seth ji and Dheeraj ji for the videos on Manali to Padum to Leh and back to Manali. We had successfully completed Manali - Shinku la - Gonbok Ranjgon - Phutgal trek - Padum - Lamayuru - Leh - Manali last week. In fact we avoided staying at Purne as it is at slightly higher altitude than Padum. The number of water crossings from Shinku La to Gonbok Ranjgon and to Purney is reduced and quite easy now. The roads continue to be mostly gravel from Padum to Leh but now there is a by pass to Lingshed and we directly reach Sirsir La without going via Lingshed.

Well, usually it is OK time to travel. But so far down, no one can do predictions of rains. Unless it heavily rains, road will be kept open or close intermittently only. Also you cannot think that much because this thing can happen on any day.

@@discoverwithdheeraj yes, if one is looking for a very offbeat route in Ladakh, then this is the one. Hello Dheeraj Bhai. Loved the content you create. I am planning a trip from Leh - Zanskar Valley and back to Leh. How many days its gonna take as I will be doing this with a pillion.
thank you bhai... can you provide little more detail on what all you want to cover? Like how you reaching Leh, are you doing any sightseeing in Ladakh or not?
@@discoverwithdheeraj I am in Leh from past 3 days and wanted to go to Zanskar valley . But dnt want to go back to Kargil and then Zanskar to leh . Wanted to know if I can do Leh to Zanskar Valley directly
Yes the route from Leh to Sirsirla to Singela to Padum can be used to go directly to Padum without going to Kargil.. the route I explained in this video.. so you can do is Leh to Lamayuru Lamayuru to Padum via Singeyla (this video) Padum local sightseeing Padum to Purne (Phuktal trek) Then from Purne you have choice to koce towarss Manali via Shinkula or return back same route or take Pensila Kargil road
Thanks so much Dheeraj jee.I am planning to go solo to Zanskar valley this July.Your videos are great and highly informative and will help me in planning this ride perfectly. Thanks a ton 😊
You will find some homestays in Wanla surely as it used to be one the parts of couple of important trekking routes earlier. I will recommend that you stretch a bit and move to Lamayuru for that stay instead of Wanla.
@@discoverwithdheeraj Thanks Dheeraj for your prompt response. Actually we are planning to start from Leh afternoon and reach up to Wanla by evening, so that we have a full next day to reach Padum considering the road conditions and we on bikes .Your video has particularly been helpful🙂 . Plan is to spend few days in Padum and then reach Leh via Sinkula Pass and Sarchu.
Hi Dheeraj, I have one more query for which I need your help. Are there any stay options after Wanla before Padum...like in Photoksar or Lingshed.?? I am just reconsidering leaving Leh on the same day of arrival for acclimatization reasons. So we may leave Leh for Padum the next day.
Well, there will be homestays in Photoskar and Lingshed.. both will need some detours to travel to these villages from the main route. If you want to leave Leh on the same day, I will not recommend going beyond Alchi or Uley or at max Wanla.
Since 2021 end of season, Indian do not need any permit anymore in Ladakh for regular sightseeing. You just need to pay the Ladakh Environment Fee on the website and carry the receipt of it. Here is the link where you need to pay it: www.lahdclehpermit.in/register-as-domestic Current Ladakh environment fees are broken down as following: 1. Environment Fee = Rs 400 one time 2. Wildlife Fee/Something = Rs 20 per day 3. Red Cross Fee = Rs 50 one time but Optional, you don’t need to pay if you don’t want to. DO NOT confuse environment fee receipt with permit. You just need to carry this fee receipt, hard copy or soft copy. This receipt will be checked at various checkposts. Hence, people are confusing it with permit but this is just verification that you have paid the fees.

Karan bhai, this one will be more challenging and remote than that Pangong Hanle route surely.. you have the experience of such remoteness and you can understand if things go wrong then it could go very wrong there.. if you can find company, it is always peaceful to mind
Sir, I've started watching your videos recently and finding them very informative. I live in Kolkata. I'm planning a self driven road trip to Ladakh this September with wife & son. I intend to cover Zanskar region and eastern Ladakh (Hanle area). I'll take the Manali-Darcha-Padum route to enter Zanskar. Kindly advise in order to reach Leh from Padum, which route will be more scenic? Padum-Kargil-Leh OR Padum-Sirsirla-Nimmo-Leh? Then Leh-Hanle via Pangong Tso. While visting Hanle area, which route should I take, the one near LAC or the inland routes? Idea is to visit Umlingla. Then to proceed to Tso Moriri and from there to Manali. I've visited Ladakh (Leh, Panging Tso, Tso Moriri) and Spiti valley (Shimla-Kaza-Gramphu via Kunzum pass) on self drive before. So I have some idea of the climate and roads there. Duration of trip Kolkata-Kolkata will be 20-22 days. FYI, Kolkata-Delhi takes 2 days by road, daytime driving only. Thank you.
Day 1 - Reach Manali Day 2 - Manali Jispa Day 3 - Jispa to Shinkula to Purne Day 4 - Day trek to Phuktal Monastery and reach Padum Day 5 - Padum Rest and local sightseeing Day 6 - Padum to Singey La to Sirsir La to Lamayuru Day 7 - Lamayuru - Sham Valley - Leh Day 8 - Leh rest and local sightseeing Day 9 - Leh to Nubra - Hunder and Diskit Day 10 - Nubra to Pangong Lake Day 11 - Pangong to Hanle Day 12 - Hanle Umling La Hanle Day 13 - Hanle to Tso moriri Day 14 - Tso Moirir to Tso Kar to Sarchu Day 15 - Sarchu to Manali Day 16 - Leave Manali

bhai depend karega ki aapki bike kitna milegae deti hai.. waise need padni nahin chahiye.. also Padum aur Leh k beech mein jab Wanla se bahar Srinagar Leh Highway par miloge to wahan Khaltsi par ek petrol pump bhi hai
There is a section where the river flows very close to the road n if we start late, we have to pass through the Zanskar river overflowing on the road. Here the river flows to the right side of the road. By which time we should cross this stretch?
You should pass that section by 10 AM or early. So, ideally if you leave by 7 AM from Padum you should be good to travel, rest depends on season as well.
Probably you are talking about the Nerak road, which just got joined. That is the road that will connect Leh with Padum if you take right from Lingshed junction instead of left turn. In this video where I talk about this part, there is visible stop sign which is the road that you may be talking here.. it is connected but not yet condusive to travel.

Hey Hi Dheeraj: We have a plan to travel from Hyderabad. We thought of the route Hyd-Delhi-Srinagar-Leh-Manali-Delhi- Hyderabad. Will this work?? Or if there are any suggestions pls suggest…
Srinagar to Leh is open for one way traffic. Even Dates, traffic is allowed from Sonamarg/Srinagar side to Kargil and on odd dates traffic allowed from Kargil/Minamarg towards Sonamarg/Srinagar side. Traffic as of now is only allowed between 6.30 AM to 9.30 AM where first one hour is only for LMVs then later HMVs are also allowed now. Manali Leh Highway is yet to open but by the time you planning and come down to Manali Leh, it should open in June

I have been to Nubra Valley and Lamayuru with Royal Enfield in the past (May. 2013 and May. 2018), but I have never been to Zanskar, so this was very helpful.
Well best month will be September when rains reside and conditions are dry on roads
And thank you so much for liking my video

Dheeraj bhai, kindly help me with this.
Is we are doing spiti circuit from shimla side. Do we need to have permit for rohtaang paas and manali green tax.. Kindly let me know what all permits needed for spiti circuit from shimla side in june
My name is Dheeraj buddy 😀.. well no permit is needed to visit Spiti Valley for Indians
@@discoverwithdheeraj oops thanks bro.. 😊
Jhulley Dheeraj bhai,
agr delhi se rented taxi le jaye leh to allowed hogi? ya rented taxi with driver le jaye to wo allowed hai leh me?
Agar taxi hai with yellow plate outside of Leh then vo allowed nahin hogi Ladakh mein sightseeing par
TATA Tigor ka ground clearance bahut jyada nahi hay bas two passengers ke liye koi dikkat hoga ki nahi. Saman vhi jyada nahi just two small luggage with two back packs.
dost aap route to kar sakte ho but thoda struggle to rageha choti gaadi mein aapko agar aap aise road conditions k liye used to nahin ho
Hi Dheeraj,
I find your videos quite informational.
I wanted to know 2 things for my plan to travel in late June-Early July
1. Will I get to see the Snow clad mountains and landscapes in the month of June and July?
2. Will I get to see the Darang durung Glaciar in its full glory.
3. What Should I expect during my visit. I am not driving(will hire a taxi)
1. Some snow will be there surely in July
2. You will surely be in awe however you see it
3. You are gonna enjoy beautiful views and nice weather
Yes the route from Leh to Sirsirla to Singela to Padum can be used to go directly to Padum without going to Kargil.. the route I explained in this video.. so you can do is
Leh to Lamayuru
Lamayuru to Padum via Singeyla (this video)
Padum local sightseeing
Padum to Purne (Phuktal trek)
Then from Purne you have choice to koce towarss Manali via Shinkula or return back same route or take Pensila Kargil road
Thanks so much Dheeraj jee.I am planning to go solo to Zanskar valley this July.Your videos are great and highly informative and will help me in planning this ride perfectly. Thanks a ton 😊
Awesome bhai, so happy to know videos are helpful
@@discoverwithdheeraj Yes waiting for your next video on zanskar itinerary 😊👍
Will publish next month bhai.. Ladakh videos scheduled for the month
@@discoverwithdheeraj ok bro Thanks and waiting 🤗
Hi, Have you made video on Zanskar river frozen waterfall ? Which month do you suggest.
No sir, no video on frozen waterfall or Chadar trek but I can connect you with right reliable people if you want.
Thanks Dheeraj for this informative and helpful post. I wanted to know if there are stay options available in Wanla. Please share
@@discoverwithdheeraj Thanks so much Dheeraj. Appreciate !!
Sir ye ruite kab open Goga main 17 may plan kr rha tha is ruite ke liye waya Manali shinkula Padam leh
Open hai bhai abhi ye route but shinkula se padum one way traffic allowed hai abhi alternate days par
Hello Dheeraj ji .. for vechile movement pass we have to do the permit in same offline office where we will do inner line permit?
Thanks
There is no Vehicular movement pass and there is no permit needed in Ladakh now. You just pay online environment fee
Dheeraj bhai, i am traveling to Leh-Ladakh in June. Can you please guide me on the permit thing? Is the online permit sufficient this year?
Since 2021 end of season, Indian do not need any permit anymore in Ladakh for regular sightseeing. You just need to pay the Ladakh Environment Fee on the website and carry the receipt of it. Here is the link where you need to pay it: www.lahdclehpermit.in/register-as-domestic
Current Ladakh environment fees are broken down as following:
1. Environment Fee = Rs 400 one time
2. Wildlife Fee/Something = Rs 20 per day
@@discoverwithdheeraj thanks a lot Bhai

Hello Dheeraj ji
Last year i travelled to leh - nubra - pangong - hanle via chusul and then to manali
Pangong to Hanle was adventurous as i was with my wife only and had no other car with us
Now do you recommend me to go Manali - padum - leh ( via lingshed )
Just me and my wife and no other car with us
Is it safe enough ?
Karan bhai, this one will be more challenging and remote than that Pangong Hanle route surely.. you have the experience of such remoteness and you can understand if things go wrong then it could go very wrong there.. if you can find company, it is always peaceful to mind
@@discoverwithdheeraj thanks for the promt reply.
Are the things same on the padum kargil route too ??
Yes Karan there was timing till last week for one way traffic on that route too
Sir, I've started watching your videos recently and finding them very informative. Thank you.

Thoda rush to hona start ho jaata hai jaise hi roads open hote hain... June mein season open ho jaata hai Spiti ka...
I am planing car tour this May, 2023. Can my Swift negotiate the route? Advance thanks for your advice.
If you have good experience of driving in tough conditions/dirt roads/high gradient roads then only take a low GC car on this route else avoid..
@@discoverwithdheeraj Thank you very much
There is a section where the river flows very close to the road n if we start late, we have to pass through the Zanskar river overflowing on the road. Here the river flows to the right side of the road.
By which time we should cross this stretch?
You should pass that section by 10 AM or early. So, ideally if you leave by 7 AM from Padum you should be good to travel, rest depends on season as well.
@@discoverwithdheeraj
i shall be passing during end of this month.
Sir Kaza se Chandratal ka road open kab hoga
Locals are suggesting by end of May or early June
Heard a new 160 feet long bridge has come up. Is the route you mentioned travels through the new bridge?
Kindly confirm.
@@discoverwithdheeraj Means i shall get the fun of the original Padum- Lamayuru- Leh road we get to see in various blogs without any byepass / shortcut if i travel this month.
No, you can take the other route I mentioned in this video
Can I travel from Lamayaru to Padum in a Non 4wd vehicle (Renault Duster)
Yes, you can travel on this route. Just drive a bit cautiously as suggested in the video in certain sections.
Sir leh khardungla pangong 20 may tak open ho jayega kya
Khardungla Pangong is all open in Ladakh as of now too
Whem will manali-leh highway open?

Srinagar to Leh is open for one way traffic. Even Dates, traffic is allowed from Sonamarg/Srinagar side to Kargil and on odd dates traffic allowed from Kargil/Minamarg towards Sonamarg/Srinagar side. Traffic as of now is only allowed between 6.30 AM to 9.30 AM where first one hour is only for LMVs then later HMVs are also allowed now.
