I never had AMS problem but i always have been traveling with these natural laws of how to travel in the Mountains. After watching your videos we also stayed at Leh for 72 hours just to rest ourselves. I took the plenty of water. Also I always carry glucon D which really works for me or some ors with me. And also I would like to have light meals while traveling. And I am always fond of slow pace traveling or giving ease between the days. Hate those itineraries where people take you in group and make you travel too many places in shorter period of time. After too many bad experiences nowadays I travel solo or either with one or two person. But you make always nice videos and give us so many information with proper details.
Same here buddy 😊 I also use Black Ginger powder apart from the things you mentioned. This increases Nitric oxide in your body without any side effects.

I was in Leh in June 1st week travelled via Road. Till Leh it was ok not much AMS felt. Although Blood O2 level fell to 85. Stayed 2 nights there. After that went to Pangong Tso. That’s where it fell to 75 for me and 69 for wife. Then it hit like a rock. Breathlessness But it wasn’t critical. Enjoyed with that Blood O2. Level. Nubra valley was a cakewalk compared to these two. Although level was 85 but by then we were acclimatized. Also we were taking Dimox twice a day to counter AMS with plenty of water. Bottomline. AMS can be countered by meds , plenty of water and inhibiting body movement that require sudden spurt like running , brisk walking etc.
Hello..thanku for all the information. We are travelling to ladakh next month, wanted to check if the below itenarary is fine from AMS pov and in general since we will be flying to leh from Delhi: Day 1 : Leh
Day 2 : Leh/ Lamayuru/ Kargil / war Memorial Drass Day 3: Kargil / / Hall of Fame/ Magnetic Hill/ Sangam Point Leh (235 kms)
Day 4 : Leh /Nubra Valley via Khardongla. 125km.
Day 5 : Turtuk excursion (Former Baltistan) Day 6 : Disket/ Hunder/ Pangong Lake (Via Shayok)
Day 7 : Pangong-Tsomoriri Lake. Day 8 : Tsomoriri/ Korzok/ Tsokar/ TanglangLa/ leh Day 9 : Departure: Leh/ Delhi
Hi Prarthana, this looks OK to me, just that in first couple of days till you return to Leh please do not exert yourself and do keep everyone hydrated!
Ams is real guys, just 2 days nefore i went to ladakh,i did feel lack of oxygen, dizziness, nausea ,lack of appetite ,literally all symptoms ,but then i overcame all of that

Very informative video Dheeraj Bhai. Reminded me of my first night in Pangong Tso when I was hit by mild AMS. The biggest problem with AMS is you never know when and whom it would hit, until it does.
Thank you Subir bhai and yes, we all can take precautions at level best and that’s all we can do with our hectic trips.. hard to find a way out of it. Well said!

It is more like taking insurance and peace of mind. You can rent the oxygen cylinder in Leh as well. It is not mandatory but sometimes taxi folks enforces it.
Dheeraj bhayya Very useful information for those who are planning to travel at high altitudes. They make sure that very helpful to us who are planning to ladakh spiti valley to take advices and precautions once again thanks bhayya.
Dheeraj ji, just saw your informative blog.Thank you, Almost all doubts have been cleared.I am 65+ from Kolkata, please tell me, whether we are allowed to carry portable oxygen cylinder in flights.
That is so good to know sir.. well you cannot carry those best is to get oxygen cylinder that can last about 3-4 hrs on rent in Leh and get it in taxi Small cylinder do not help much
Very good information and help those who are planning to travel to high-altitude areas. We will definitely keep your advise in mind as we are planning to go to Leh Ladakh in our car. Thanks
I went to nathu la pass and bum la pass .. both come under extremely high altitudes .. i didn't feel any shortness of breath or any other symptoms but still i always take 1 day break every 200-300 km .. so that my body gets acclimated perfectly
Hello Sir Your videos are very informative. Me and my husband are planning to visit Leh from 1st July till 8th July, covering Leh-Lamayuru and Moonland- Nubra- Siachen Base Camp - Pangong - Hanle - Leh Below is our tentative itinerary Day 1: Arrival in Leh Day 2: Leh to Lamayrur and back to Leh + Leh Local Sightseeing Day 3: Leh to Nubra Valley Day 4: Nubra Valley to Siachen via Panamik Hot Spring Day 5: Nubra Valley to Pangong Tso Day 6: Pangong to Hanle Day 7: Return to Leh from Hanle Day 8: Return to Delhi I have a few questions : 1. Are there any changes to the itinerary you would recommend? 2. Is there sufficient acclimatisation in Leh (approx 2 days as Layamuru is at a lower altitude than Leh) 3. Since we plan to visit Siachen Base Camp and stay 1 night in Hanle, do we need oxygen cylinder? If yes, what capacity is generally sufficient? Any other feedback is welcomed.
Here are my inputs Better stick to just Sham Valley on Day 2, Lamayuru will be stretching too much. Instead of Siachen base camp I will suggest you opt for Turtuk.. better in terms of views and time spent. Rest looks good. Regarding acclimatization, just dont exert for first few days and ensure well hydration

Bhai, please check video of mine: ua-cam.com/video/4Se3aQfRovw/v-deo.html Follow the itinerary as described, just that instead of exiting from Tso Moriri on Leh Manali Highway, you will need to come back to Leh from Tso Moriri and then continue as described in the video to Kargil and back to Srinagar. Watch the video till end to include both Hanle and Umling La

Well bhai I ain’t an expert in this area but my brother in law Yogesh bhai whom you may have seen in my videos or vlogs is and expert.. he replied following to me with respect to your question Fuel injected bike is a future, carborator bike no doubt easy to fix but one should hv a skill set to repair, now days 99% motorcycles are fuel injected and even they hv ecu mapped with it and can be fixed because there are repair centre available in leh and kaza like places Ecu mapped with different different terrains as it hv a sensor to judge which map you hv to use at different terrain Few people try to map it according to they required performance of the motorcycle but we should always keep factory fitted ecu As much as we keep our motorcycles stock it will be more reliable as stock products are tried and tested
Thank you for your excellent advice. We r planning to visit Leh during lst week of September. Re AMS we r very worried coming from a tropical country. Is it safe for a person who already suffers motion sickness will be more likely to suffer AMS
Well, there is no co-relation Jyotsna between AMS and Motion Sickness.. However, one should not confuse between too and ignore any signs. If you are hit with motion sickenss, then you may loose water with vomits which makes you dehydrated that increases the chances of AMS then... that's how you can say they may be related. For Motion Sickness, there are medicines that are available which you can take after consulting your doctor. My wife uses accupuncture bands/sea bands which helped her a lot with motion sickness.. but it helps some and doesn't help some. Worth a try locally I will say for motion sickness. Again take medicine from doctor for motion sickness and try to sit in front seats of the car, don't use screen/phone when riding.. Now for AMS I have shared lot of tips in the video itself.
HI, AMAZING AND SO HELPFUL VIDEOS DHEERAJ, I NEED YOUR ADVISE. My plan is to visit leh ladakh on april 27 th 2023 for 6 nights and 7 days. we are a group of 14 people where one child is of 10 years while other are age group of 18 to 45 years. 2 night leh, 2 night nubra, 1 night pangong , and again 1 night leh. while 2 of them have bp problem and they take pills on daily basis. As there health is in good control, Do you think there can be any problems for them in the whole trip and in pangong night stay. OR can we take special precautions for them throughout the trip. TIA.
Thank you so much Sandeep ji.. I will advise you plz check these two videos of mine where I have covered these topics in detail: 1. ua-cam.com/video/jxN7smgxvKY/v-deo.html 2. ua-cam.com/video/jxN7smgxvKY/v-deo.html Also, I will not recommend sleeping at Pangong Lake that early in the season with such a large group. Firstly, hardly there will be any camps running that early in the season and facilities will be very basic in homestays and it will be very very cold too. It is better you stay at Tangtse instead of Pangong Lake, which is 34 kms before the lake.
Sorry about that, here is the second video Ladakh Trip with Kids | Spiti Valley Trip with Kids | 2-3-year-old Kids | 5-10-year-old Kids ua-cam.com/video/NT9Z9VXvUKM/v-deo.html
Dheeraj, As you suggested pangong lake tangtse is the nearest point where we should move to, in case of AMS. Similarly can you suggest for "Tso moriri" and "Hanle". And is there any way to do day trip only to tso moiri to hanle?
For both Hanle and Tso Moriri, I will recommend coming to Chumathang or Mahe if nothijg available at Chumathang for stay. Day trip to Hanle or Tso Moriri from Leh is too too hectic
Dheeraj ji, we are reaching leh on 27 Apr and as per itenary planing to stay at pangong on 30th Apr, family of 4 person including children 12 & 16 years. Is it ok to stay there, will stay in Hunder on 29th Apr. pls guide. Thanks for such a wonderful job you are doing 😊
@@discoverwithdheeraj Thanks Dheeraj Ji, we visited on 30th Apr and now completed ladakh trip and back to home very happily and safely too. You are fabulous in your content.
I never had AMS problems in high altitude places..may be I was some mountain girl in my past birth...it feels like I can always get accustomed my body with any type of mountain terrain
Hi Dheeraj, Your videos are extremely helpful in planning my 1st ever 10 days Ladakh trip. Just we 2 people. I have 1 query. I so much want to visit Chushul from Pangong and come back to Pangong on same day. Does that look ok? My husband is not interested as he had been to hall of fame and drass war memorial earlier. Also we dont have any plan for Hanle or tso moriri as it would be very hectic. I have motion sickness and not sure how I will handle AMS. I dont have any medical condition. Below is our current plan. Day 1 to 3 - Stay in Leh and local sight seeing within 10 km range. Day 4 - Stay in Hunder Day 5 - Visit Turtuk and stay in Diskit Day 6 - Stay near Pangong Day 7 to 9 - Come back Leh and visit Thiksey, Hemis monestries area. Day 10 - morning flight Please advise if it's sensible to visit Chushul and come back from Pangong.
Well, Day 1, 2 is fine but Day 3 may be you can go and visit Sham Valley and don't restrict yourself to 10 km of Leh. Day 4,5,6 looks good to me. Day 7 you can travel along Pangong Lake, go to Chusul and even a little further till Kaksang La/Mitpal Tso lake then take back route from Chusul that goes through Harong Wetlands and return either back to Pangong or stay at Tangtse to cut short journey next day. All that is doable in a day but the Mitpal Tso extension and Harong Wetland route will be little desolate/lonely as rarely people travel these routes. However, till Chusul from Pangong, many people have started taking it. Then Day 8,9 looks good and will act as rest.
@@discoverwithdheeraj Thanks for the advice. But road to Mitpal tso is not good right? All dirt road? Do you have any video covering Mitpal tso and kakasang la?
I don’t have a video but you can check with BRO checkpost ar Chusul or Nama and in last couple of year road has been made pretty Ok.. mostly tarred..and you are not going too far on that road but to an extent only upto Mitpal Tso
Excellent information Dheeraj! Thanks a lot so much. Would like your views on my questions - I am travelling with family to Leh from Hyderabad by road via Manali next month. Stopping at Keylong for the night. This is my second trip to Ladakh , the first one was via Srinagar and we couldnt do Leh-Manali then as the road was not opened. This time planning to do Manali-Leh for both onward and return journey. I am reaching Keylong directly from Swarghat. Can I proceed to Leh next day? or would it be better to stay at Keylong for one more night?
Srinagar Leh highway par Srinagar, Kargil, Khaltsi, Leh and 1-2 more in between… Manali Leh highway par only in Tandi and Keylong after Manali then directly at Karu about 40 kms before Leh Then Leh, Diskit in Nubra Valley and Tangtse 34 kms before Pangong Lake
There are two types, one is motion sickness that can occur anywhere including lower hills.. There are medicines for motion sickness that comes which you can take and try to sit in front seat than back to reduce the motion sickness. Consult your doctor for the motion sickness medicine. My wife uses acupuncture bands and it has helped her a lot. You may try them too if the motion sickness is not that bad for you. Other one is Acute Mountain Sickness that only happens when you travel beyond 10,000 feet in altitude. Above video has tips to avoid it.

Hello dhiraj hi..
Do we need to carry oxygen cylinder while traveling to nubra n pangong.
Plz guide.
I have planned trip in June first week.
Thank u .
It is more like taking insurance and peace of mind. You can rent the oxygen cylinder in Leh as well. It is not mandatory but sometimes taxi folks enforces it.
Respect Dheeraj bhai ❤
Thank you bhai
Dheeraj bhayya Very useful information for those who are planning to travel at high altitudes. They make sure that very helpful to us who are planning to ladakh spiti valley to take advices and precautions once again thanks bhayya.
Thank you and so glad you found the video helpful
nice you tshirt is also speaking about Oxygen
thank you!
Dheeraj ji, just saw your informative blog.Thank you, Almost all doubts have been cleared.I am 65+ from Kolkata, please tell me, whether we are allowed to carry portable oxygen cylinder in flights.
That is so good to know sir.. well you cannot carry those best is to get oxygen cylinder that can last about 3-4 hrs on rent in Leh and get it in taxi
Small cylinder do not help much
Waiting for your promised video regarding feasibility of taking children on Ladakh trip
Coming soon next week types
Thanks
Very informative. Thanks ❤
Thank you 🙏
Well said Sir.Really helpful when in need. One must watch before going to Leh ,in particular, and any other high altitude activities/visits.
Hi Dheeraj bhai, will karpoor (Camphor) help to prevent AMS ?
Very helpful :) keep it up
Thank you 😊
Very informative
Thank you Sameer
Very good information and help those who are planning to travel to high-altitude areas. We will definitely keep your advise in mind as we are planning to go to Leh Ladakh in our car. Thanks
Thank you so much.. feel free to browse through the channel or leave any questions if you have
I went to nathu la pass and bum la pass .. both come under extremely high altitudes .. i didn't feel any shortness of breath or any other symptoms but still i always take 1 day break every 200-300 km .. so that my body gets acclimated perfectly
Hello Sir
Your videos are very informative. Me and my husband are planning to visit Leh from 1st July till 8th July, covering Leh-Lamayuru and Moonland- Nubra- Siachen Base Camp - Pangong - Hanle - Leh
Below is our tentative itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Leh
Day 2: Leh to Lamayrur and back to Leh + Leh Local Sightseeing
Day 3: Leh to Nubra Valley
Day 4: Nubra Valley to Siachen via Panamik Hot Spring
Day 5: Nubra Valley to Pangong Tso
Day 6: Pangong to Hanle
Day 7: Return to Leh from Hanle
Day 8: Return to Delhi
I have a few questions :
1. Are there any changes to the itinerary you would recommend?
2. Is there sufficient acclimatisation in Leh (approx 2 days as Layamuru is at a lower altitude than Leh)
3. Since we plan to visit Siachen Base Camp and stay 1 night in Hanle, do we need oxygen cylinder? If yes, what capacity is generally sufficient?
Any other feedback is welcomed.
Here are my inputs
Better stick to just Sham Valley on Day 2, Lamayuru will be stretching too much. Instead of Siachen base camp I will suggest you opt for Turtuk.. better in terms of views and time spent. Rest looks good.
Regarding acclimatization, just dont exert for first few days and ensure well hydration
Thanks bhai me abhi spiti trip karke vapas aya hu 18 june ko meri wife ko her din hi vomit hoti thi gadi me gya me shimla side se hi per fir bhi dikket ho rhi thi kai family ko mene kaza se vapas trip chod ke ate bhi dekha per finaly mene apna spiti cirkit pura kiya shuru ke 2.3 din meri wife ne dimox or avomine bhi li thi per fir bhi dikket aa rhi thi bad me mene medicine dena band ker diya to vah fir thoda better feel karne lagi
thank you bhai for sharing the experience. I feel sorry aapki wife ko is sab se guzarna pada.. ye hi problem rehti hai high altitude travel ki bas.
So helpful..

Dheeraj bhai thanks for this informative video.WE are planning a motorcycle ride via Srinagar from 8th September please describe a route srinagar to srinagar covering Nubra umlingla pangong please.Waiting for your reply
Bhai, please check video of mine: ua-cam.com/video/4Se3aQfRovw/v-deo.html
Follow the itinerary as described, just that instead of exiting from Tso Moriri on Leh Manali Highway, you will need to come back to Leh from Tso Moriri and then continue as described in the video to Kargil and back to Srinagar. Watch the video till end to include both Hanle and Umling La
Dheeraj Bhai, a minor correction at 10:51 regarding secret tip. You mentioned lemon and garlic, but the caption shows lemon and ginger.
Oops my bad, i meant lemon and ginger.. so sorry bhai… not sure how to fix it now 😀

@@discoverwithdheeraj Thank you very much!!
Please tell me should we use carborator bike or fuel injected bike, or tell me the tips if we want to bring regular carborator bike for Ladakh ride.
Well bhai I ain’t an expert in this area but my brother in law Yogesh bhai whom you may have seen in my videos or vlogs is and expert.. he replied following to me with respect to your question
Fuel injected bike is a future, carborator bike no doubt easy to fix but one should hv a skill set to repair, now days 99% motorcycles are fuel injected and even they hv ecu mapped with it and can be fixed because there are repair centre available in leh and kaza like places
Ecu mapped with different different terrains as it hv a sensor to judge which map you hv to use at different terrain
Few people try to map it according to they required performance of the motorcycle but we should always keep factory fitted ecu
As much as we keep our motorcycles stock it will be more reliable as stock products are tried and tested
Thanks Dheeraj, very helpful tips
My pleasure.. it was helpful!
So beautiful .
Thank you
Is it safe to go Hanle from Pangong Lake via Merak Village? And also do you recommend staying in Hanle?
Yes Punam, as long as you are acclimatized at Pangong lake and before it, you can go to Hanle and stay overnight
Awesome Dheeraj bhai, making my job easier 😄
Thank you bhai, my pleasure
Brother, You have given very valuable points , very informative in details.Thank you so much.
My pleasure
Can we carry those oxygen checking machines which we used during pandemic?
Yes you can surely carry them
Thanks Sir Verry Important Trips
Most welcome 🤗
Very informative
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you Dheeraj Sir
Happy to know it helped bhai
Are portable oxygen cylinders useful to carry with us? Which are easily available on Amazon.
No, better get a bigger cylinder that lasts few hours to get to safety.. you can rent them in Leh
can we use small oxygen canister in place of Cylinder
I do not suggest them as they dont have enough to help in recovery. If you are in car then better carry bigger cylinder on rent
👏👏 very informative video
Thank you 🙏
Thank you for your excellent advice.
Thank you for your prompt responses
Hi, I just wanted to know 6 liter Oxygen kit available on Amazon. Will that be ok to carry well traveling to mountains
Best will be to rent in Leh upon reaching or rent in Delhi
I will advise you plz check these two videos of mine where I have covered these topics in detail:
1. ua-cam.com/video/jxN7smgxvKY/v-deo.html
2. ua-cam.com/video/jxN7smgxvKY/v-deo.html
Also, I will not recommend sleeping at Pangong Lake that early in the season with such a large group. Firstly, hardly there will be any camps running that early in the season and facilities will be very basic in homestays and it will be very very cold too. It is better you stay at Tangtse instead of Pangong Lake, which is 34 kms before the lake.
@@discoverwithdheeraj THANKS A LOT
@@discoverwithdheerajBUT BOTH THE VIDEOS ARE SAME
Sorry about that, here is the second video Ladakh Trip with Kids | Spiti Valley Trip with Kids | 2-3-year-old Kids | 5-10-year-old Kids

It will be pretty cold up at Pangong so make sure you go prepared with heavy woollens
@@discoverwithdheeraj Thanks Dheeraj Ji, we visited on 30th Apr and now completed ladakh trip and back to home very happily and safely too. You are fabulous in your content.
Vijay Ji, this is great news and am really happy my content was useful for your trip.. good to know you had a great trip
Very helpful 👍
Thank you
Extremely helpful ...
My pleasure
I never had AMS problems in high altitude places..may be I was some mountain girl in my past birth...it feels like I can always get accustomed my body with any type of mountain terrain
Lucky you 😀
Hi Dheeraj, Your videos are extremely helpful in planning my 1st ever 10 days Ladakh trip.
Day 4 - Stay in Hunder
Day 5 - Visit Turtuk and stay in Diskit
Day 6 - Stay near Pangong
Day 7 to 9 - Come back Leh and visit Thiksey, Hemis monestries area.
Day 10 - morning flight
Please advise if it's sensible to visit Chushul and come back from Pangong.
@@discoverwithdheeraj cool, Thanks 😊
Excellent information Dheeraj! Thanks a lot so much. Would like your views on my questions - I am travelling with family to Leh from Hyderabad by road via Manali next month. Stopping at Keylong for the night.
This is my second trip to Ladakh , the first one was via Srinagar and we couldnt do Leh-Manali then as the road was not opened. This time planning to do Manali-Leh for both onward and return journey. I am reaching Keylong directly from Swarghat. Can I proceed to Leh next day? or would it be better to stay at Keylong for one more night?
In general it shall be OK to travel to Leh as well but if you have time on hand, it will be better to take rest a day before reaching Leh
Slr ji leh trip me petrol pump kaha kaha per hai
Srinagar Leh highway par Srinagar, Kargil, Khaltsi, Leh and 1-2 more in between…
Manali Leh highway par only in Tandi and Keylong after Manali then directly at Karu about 40 kms before Leh
Then Leh, Diskit in Nubra Valley and Tangtse 34 kms before Pangong Lake
Kindly suggest a budget hotel in Leh and pangong lake
How to avoid vomiting while traveling in the mountains?
There are two types, one is motion sickness that can occur anywhere including lower hills.. There are medicines for motion sickness that comes which you can take and try to sit in front seat than back to reduce the motion sickness. Consult your doctor for the motion sickness medicine. My wife uses acupuncture bands and it has helped her a lot. You may try them too if the motion sickness is not that bad for you.
Other one is Acute Mountain Sickness that only happens when you travel beyond 10,000 feet in altitude. Above video has tips to avoid it.
