Thanks - all 12 tips noted
Awesome! Do share if you know others who may be planning it.
I never had AMS problem but i always have been traveling with these natural laws of how to travel in the Mountains. After watching your videos we also stayed at Leh for 72 hours just to rest ourselves. I took the plenty of water. Also I always carry glucon D which really works for me or some ors with me. And also I would like to have light meals while traveling. And I am always fond of slow pace traveling or giving ease between the days. Hate those itineraries where people take you in group and make you travel too many places in shorter period of time. After too many bad experiences nowadays I travel solo or either with one or two person. But you make always nice videos and give us so many information with proper details.
Thank you so much and well that is the right thing to do the way you do it!
Can i call u?
Same here buddy 😊 I also use Black Ginger powder apart from the things you mentioned. This increases Nitric oxide in your body without any side effects.
Thank you for the tip

Very informative video Dheeraj Bhai. Reminded me of my first night in Pangong Tso when I was hit by mild AMS. The biggest problem with AMS is you never know when and whom it would hit, until it does.
Thank you Subir bhai and yes, we all can take precautions at level best and that’s all we can do with our hectic trips.. hard to find a way out of it. Well said!

Thank you so much bhai
Excellent job done by u Dheeraj..
AMS is a real threat to life if it hits u.if it is mild no problem but when it affects seviourly its is advisable that you should have leave that place immediately and come back to a plane area and meet a doctor and it is a also advisable in thar case again don't go to high altitude regions..
Absolutely!
Love you sir
Thank you bhai

Ha ha.. thanks bhai and yeah some of them are really necessary to follow with o2 cylinder one of them
Very good information n guidelines.thanks very much. I have been 6 times .4 times i had bad experience almost in die. I don't know how I escaped. 2 time bad experience in serchu, 2 time in rtning nubra to leh , n one time in amarnath yatra mahagunas top . 3 times almost gone to heaven. Also planning once again with slow moving on high altitude.
Thank you and sad to know you had to go thru it so many times.. yes plz take care this time and go slowly
Thanks bro 🙏

Thank you for your share.
I was in Leh in June 1st week travelled via Road. Till Leh it was ok not much AMS felt. Although Blood O2 level fell to 85. Stayed 2 nights there. After that went to Pangong Tso. That’s where it fell to 75 for me and 69 for wife. Then it hit like a rock. Breathlessness But it wasn’t critical. Enjoyed with that Blood O2. Level. Nubra valley was a cakewalk compared to these two. Although level was 85 but by then we were acclimatized. Also we were taking Dimox twice a day to counter AMS with plenty of water.
Bottomline. AMS can be countered by meds , plenty of water and inhibiting body movement that require sudden spurt like running , brisk walking etc.
Thank you so much for sharing the experience
Thanks for the video. I am planning for a trek to Yunam peak at 61110 m but a little anxious because I haven't been to that much height before and the trekking company through which I will be visiting is a newbie in the game. Do you think ramping up my cardio training will help or is it based on pure genetics n how much time I give my body to acclimatize.
luckily my AMS during Ladakh trip was mild. Thanks alot for this video!! Now m planning Spiti valley trip in sept.😊
Good to know as long as it is negligible to mild, the trip feels so better
No AMS Problem will persist in Spiti trip ....be cautious at komic langza, kunzum pass
Not really true! People have been hospitalised here, so rather than generalizing it, please suggest a cautious approach
Sorry bhai...you are right...we have people encoutering HAPE & HACE too... Being Himachali I realised my mistake
No problem bhai just that generalizing it people may think it is not an issue 🙏.. you are right, it can happen to anyone and anybody
We visited Ladakh area including Tsomoriri during July 3-10th via Manali-Leh highway. We used Homeopathic medicines for AMS. We never faced any problems as Homeopathic medicines worked so well for all 6 of us. We started to take few altitude and oxygen levels adjusting medicines few days before reaching Leh. I recommend everyone to consult good Homeopathic doctor for AMS problems when you are going for higher altitude places.
Thank you
Which homeopathy medicine u took
Hello Chinmay
I m Bhavesh Jain from Mumbai. By any chance can i call U? I want to visit Leh n Spiti. It will b very helpful for me to talk to u .
Good information about ams I recently completed my leh ladakh trip and ams fully disturb me....
Thank you, glad it helped
I went to nathu la pass and bum la pass .. both come under extremely high altitudes .. i didn't feel any shortness of breath or any other symptoms but still i always take 1 day break every 200-300 km .. so that my body gets acclimated perfectly
Waiting for your promised video regarding feasibility of taking children on Ladakh trip
Coming soon next week types
Hi Dheeraj bhai, will karpoor (Camphor) help to prevent AMS ?
I coming next week
Very Detailed information making people aware about AMS.
I don't know if this question is right or not but which month of travel has lesser chances of AMS.
Please suggest.
Thank you! Well, if you go in summer time, that will help your body not worry about cold conditions and secondly there will be variety of soft drinks you can choose to drink throughout the day.. so there isn’t any correlation between month of travel and AMS, the above two points will indirectly helps your body battle any chances of AMS
Excellent information Dheeraj! Thanks a lot so much. Would like your views on my questions - I am travelling with family to Leh from Hyderabad by road via Manali next month. Stopping at Keylong for the night.
This is my second trip to Ladakh , the first one was via Srinagar and we couldnt do Leh-Manali then as the road was not opened. This time planning to do Manali-Leh for both onward and return journey. I am reaching Keylong directly from Swarghat. Can I proceed to Leh next day? or would it be better to stay at Keylong for one more night?
In general it shall be OK to travel to Leh as well but if you have time on hand, it will be better to take rest a day before reaching Leh
Hi Dheeraj, we are planning the leh - ladakh trip in August mid week and will reach to leh via flight from pune. My question is due to working from home for past 2 years, our body is not much used to of physical activities now and we get tired soon. Is it safe to travel ladakh with this physical condition?
Hey Dheeraj, one biking group is starting from Srinagar to Manali , and they are not giving 2 days single rest day in Leh . .is this good enough for acclimitazation?
Hello..thanku for all the information. We are travelling to ladakh next month, wanted to check if the below itenarary is fine from AMS pov and in general since we will be flying to leh from Delhi:
Day 1 : Leh
Day 2 : Leh/ Lamayuru/ Kargil / war Memorial Drass
Day 3: Kargil / / Hall of Fame/ Magnetic Hill/ Sangam Point Leh (235 kms)
Day 4 : Leh /Nubra Valley via Khardongla. 125km.
Day 5 : Turtuk excursion (Former Baltistan)
Day 6 : Disket/ Hunder/ Pangong Lake (Via Shayok)
Day 7 : Pangong-Tsomoriri Lake. Day 8 : Tsomoriri/ Korzok/ Tsokar/ TanglangLa/ leh
Day 9 : Departure: Leh/ Delhi
Hi Prarthana, this looks OK to me, just that in first couple of days till you return to Leh please do not exert yourself and do keep everyone hydrated!
Ur right. They force us to take Oxygen Cylinder with us. That's why last time we had to buy oxygen cylinder in 700 rs from Leh Market hence we did not need it.
I think taxi union made that rule as few casualties happened due to AMS last year
Thanks for sharing the tips.........One question- Are tour operators are required to carry oxygen cylinder on package trips?
I don’t think they are required but you can ask them. Taxi drivers have recently started enforcing carrying oxygen cylinders with them
I never had AMS problems in high altitude places..may be I was some mountain girl in my past birth...it feels like I can always get accustomed my body with any type of mountain terrain
Lucky you 😀
Dheeraj ji, just saw your informative blog.Thank you, Almost all doubts have been cleared.I am 65+ from Kolkata, please tell me, whether we are allowed to carry portable oxygen cylinder in flights.
That is so good to know sir.. well you cannot carry those best is to get oxygen cylinder that can last about 3-4 hrs on rent in Leh and get it in taxi
Small cylinder do not help much
Hello sir we are planning our spiti trip on 1st and 2nd week of October. is asthmatic person has high chances to hit AMS....???and can portable oxygen really help in this condition ??
Dheeraj Bhai, a minor correction at 10:51 regarding secret tip. You mentioned lemon and garlic, but the caption shows lemon and ginger.
Oops my bad, i meant lemon and ginger.. so sorry bhai… not sure how to fix it now 😀
Dheeraj, As you suggested pangong lake tangtse is the nearest point where we should move to, in case of AMS. Similarly can you suggest for "Tso moriri" and "Hanle". And is there any way to do day trip only to tso moiri to hanle?
For both Hanle and Tso Moriri, I will recommend coming to Chumathang or Mahe if nothijg available at Chumathang for stay. Day trip to Hanle or Tso Moriri from Leh is too too hectic
Hello dhiraj hi..
Do we need to carry oxygen cylinder while traveling to nubra n pangong.
Plz guide.
I have planned trip in June first week.
Thank u .
It is more like taking insurance and peace of mind. You can rent the oxygen cylinder in Leh as well. It is not mandatory but sometimes taxi folks enforces it.
Hi Dheeraj excellent video, nicely explained. I am planning to travel from Mumbai to Manali in May covering Sissu. Can there be AMS issue?
Upto Sissu it shall be fine without AMS concerns. Just stay hydrated.
Thank You for the info. Ur doing an excellent work. Keep it up and God bless you.
Thank you bhai
Kindly suggest a budget hotel in Leh and pangong lake
Dra diye Bhai Dheeraj, esi month ja rha hu leh ,
Bhai jaisa video mein kaha, daraane k liye nahin hai, aware karane k liye hai ye video :)
Hello Sir
Your videos are very informative. Me and my husband are planning to visit Leh from 1st July till 8th July, covering Leh-Lamayuru and Moonland- Nubra- Siachen Base Camp - Pangong - Hanle - Leh
Below is our tentative itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Leh
Day 2: Leh to Lamayrur and back to Leh + Leh Local Sightseeing
Day 3: Leh to Nubra Valley
Day 4: Nubra Valley to Siachen via Panamik Hot Spring
Day 5: Nubra Valley to Pangong Tso
Day 6: Pangong to Hanle
Day 7: Return to Leh from Hanle
Day 8: Return to Delhi
I have a few questions :
1. Are there any changes to the itinerary you would recommend?
2. Is there sufficient acclimatisation in Leh (approx 2 days as Layamuru is at a lower altitude than Leh)
3. Since we plan to visit Siachen Base Camp and stay 1 night in Hanle, do we need oxygen cylinder? If yes, what capacity is generally sufficient?
Any other feedback is welcomed.
Here are my inputs
Better stick to just Sham Valley on Day 2, Lamayuru will be stretching too much. Instead of Siachen base camp I will suggest you opt for Turtuk.. better in terms of views and time spent. Rest looks good.
Regarding acclimatization, just dont exert for first few days and ensure well hydration
Is it safe to go Hanle from Pangong Lake via Merak Village? And also do you recommend staying in Hanle?
Yes Punam, as long as you are acclimatized at Pangong lake and before it, you can go to Hanle and stay overnight
Dheeraj bhai thanks for this informative video.WE are planning a motorcycle ride via Srinagar from 8th September please describe a route srinagar to srinagar covering Nubra umlingla pangong please.Waiting for your reply
Bhai, please check video of mine: ua-cam.com/video/4Se3aQfRovw/v-deo.html
Follow the itinerary as described, just that instead of exiting from Tso Moriri on Leh Manali Highway, you will need to come back to Leh from Tso Moriri and then continue as described in the video to Kargil and back to Srinagar. Watch the video till end to include both Hanle and Umling La
Thanks bhai me abhi spiti trip karke vapas aya hu 18 june ko meri wife ko her din hi vomit hoti thi gadi me gya me shimla side se hi per fir bhi dikket ho rhi thi kai family ko mene kaza se vapas trip chod ke ate bhi dekha per finaly mene apna spiti cirkit pura kiya shuru ke 2.3 din meri wife ne dimox or avomine bhi li thi per fir bhi dikket aa rhi thi bad me mene medicine dena band ker diya to vah fir thoda better feel karne lagi
thank you bhai for sharing the experience. I feel sorry aapki wife ko is sab se guzarna pada.. ye hi problem rehti hai high altitude travel ki bas.
Hi. thank you for such a clear explanation of AMS. I'm from chennai planning to go to spiti valley in month of November. My trip is from delhi-shimla-chitkul-nako-kaza-tabp-kalpa-shimla. is this route safe. thanks in advance
Route will be open but it will be cold, so go prepared
Good effort sir but u missed some places of Ladakh I can help u with that ...u may tell anytime
Thanks a lot.. are you talking about this video? It is AMS video buddy.. Not sure what places you are talking about but in both English and Hindi playlists of this channel I have covered almost all places of Ladakh except few left out intentionally which will be published when the right time comes.. but I would be happy to learn from you too.
@@discoverwithdheeraj ya sure bro I'm here to help anytime
Hello Brother. Do you suggest bikers with no past experience of snow or high-altitude roads should go on a bike trip from Leh to other famous places like Nubra valley, Pangong Tso lake, etc? Also, we are visiting in the last week of September via flight.
I would surely recommend that you have some experience of bike riding up there
Please give English subtitles or upload English version on these leh travel videos

@@discoverwithdheeraj Thank you very much!!
Hello Dheeraj, thanks for all the information. I have a question (pardon my ignorance). We spent 3 nights in Leh and then will be completing 3 nights in Nubra (Hunder and Sumoor) today. Leh being 3500 m and Nubra being ~3000m, us having stayed in Nubra (3000m) for 3 nights would we have "de-acclimatized" ourselves coming down to 3000m, if we were to have our next night stay directly in Tangste (3900m). Is it advisable ? Please share your thoughts. Thanks for your time .
Most likely it shall be fine to stay there.. It is not about de-acclimatization as you keep traveling there. Plus scaling to Kardungla when coming over there and the scaling it down also helps in acclimatization. Tangtse is warmer than Pangong Lake, so as long as you all are fine up until now, just stay well hydrated for rest of the trip and staying at Tangtse, more or less shall be OK. Of course no one can say for 100% surety but you have taken the required precautions and have given yourself enough time to be ready to stay up there.
@@discoverwithdheeraj thanks for your input
Best wishes for the rest of the trip
Thank you for your excellent advice. We r planning to visit Leh during lst week of September. Re AMS we r very worried coming from a tropical country. Is it safe for a person who already suffers motion sickness will be more likely to suffer AMS
Well, there is no co-relation Jyotsna between AMS and Motion Sickness.. However, one should not confuse between too and ignore any signs. If you are hit with motion sickenss, then you may loose water with vomits which makes you dehydrated that increases the chances of AMS then... that's how you can say they may be related.
For Motion Sickness, there are medicines that are available which you can take after consulting your doctor. My wife uses accupuncture bands/sea bands which helped her a lot with motion sickness.. but it helps some and doesn't help some. Worth a try locally I will say for motion sickness. Again take medicine from doctor for motion sickness and try to sit in front seats of the car, don't use screen/phone when riding.. Now for AMS I have shared lot of tips in the video itself.
Thank you for your prompt responses
