Hi y'all, at 11:05 in the transcript you found the large staple looking thing... if I am correct it would have been hammered into logs to better pull/gather them when logging. Some were squared like the one you found and many were made like overly large horseshoes with sharper longer points.

The u-shaped spike was used back in the day for logging, before dog-log chains. They would drive the spike into the felled tree, then hook a chain onto it and pull it out with a horse team to the desired location or to a sawmill. I come from a long line of old East Texas Loggers( Timber men or lumberjacks) and saw plenty of those in the 60's and 70's! It wasa good find, brought back memories of my grandfather!

Angel may have been on a Holy Water fount or a mantel clock. I think the hinge/latch went to a photo album type book. The "keyhole" would allow for expansion as photos were added to the album.

Good thing some of us old timers are still around to give you a real history lesson. When the coke ovens were no more, people would live in them. Which explains some of the stuff you found which most likely goes back to the 60s or 70s. Yes that key you found was used to open a sardine can. Back then there was no such thing as garbage, they used it and threw it on the ground. I inherited my grandparents house and still finding old bottles and jars. That other thing is a big staple for anchoring what I have no idea. Any miners out there that can give us more history?
