Quick question: how often do you change soil from what you bought the plant with? I've never changed the soil in any of my plants, but I'm a complete beginner.
Most plants come with pretty good soil no matter where it’s coming from, so I keep my plants in the nursery pots until the roots start growing out of the bottom & are almost root bound.

You’ve made a great video, thank you for your time doing it for us. I live in Brazil and I have 4 philodendrons, 2 of them I found on the streets and brought home and they are dois great. The 2 units of Brasil (we call Jiboia) are doing ok, after 3 years one insistis in not growing, the other is growing fine. But my red emerald stopped growing all of sudden. The yellow leafs are popping out every week, what’s making me ver tv sad. I don’t know if is the lack of seasons, because in summer - now - the sun doesn’t go trough my window anymore, or if I’m not watering it correctly. I put it closer to the window, and I’m trying to water more frequently, hoping it’s leafs start to have that’s little drops again. I hope it doesn’t die.
Philodendron are one of my favorite house plants. I think I have 12 or more varieties. Thank you for all your tips. I will be implementing some of the tips.

Great video Harli. I just love Philos. I have a Red emerald from a plant swap and it's gorgeous. Thanks for the tips. I want a pink princess and a Prince of orange. Those are impossible to find here in Barbados.😯
Thank you for the great information. I just planted a gifted plant on a west facing bed outside and the leaves are turning yellow...so maybe it's getting too much light?
I got so excited when I saw this video pop up! I've really fallen in love with philodendrons recently. How much of each soil component do you use for your Philo babies? (Also I'm so jealous of your pink princess omg)
I relate sm! I've been looking up stuff for adv,ice on which one I can care for easier and half of the sites say they are the same variety and the other half says they are totally different!
Pothos (Epipremnum Aureum, also often refered to as Scindapsus due to previous classifications) and Philodendron both belong to the same family of plants, but that or their similar looks doesn't make them the same. The easiest way to tell whether you have a Philodendron or another plant is by checking the parts of your plant where the leafs join the stem. Philodendrons will have an additional bit of growth there, in the shape of a sort of an elongated triangle, that depending on your environment and timing will be either fully alive or dry and ready to fall off. If aerial roots are visible, Philodendron will have several thinner ones, while Epipremnum Aureum will usually only have one that is thicker. In terms of care, they are pretty similar, with probably most important difference being that the latter like a bit more direct light than Philodendron plants do.
I have been growing philodendrons here in South FL indoors and outdoors for over 20 years. Your pink princess needs humidity. I have quite a few pink princess over 4' growing on poles. My favorite is white knight. ...will send you some pics...cheers!
I'd love to see a video on humidity and more detailed info about soil! 👀 What's considered good humidity or too much? Is there a thing as too much? Everyone seems to be using Perlite, is Charcoal just as good? I'm a new plant mom. I've been doing alot of research before purchasing and since I have but it's so much easier to understand when a successful plant grower explains outloud 💚 Also, your eyebrows are so perfect 😍 haha ✌
@@HarliG A video on fertilizing sounds SO good - can I add an extra request for it? Can you address when to either bump up or take a break on fertilizing based on the plant's current health/state? For example, right after repotting, after treating for bugs, moving to a different place in the home, transferring a cutting from water to soil... that kind of thing?
I can't stop watching your videos! I love them all 😊 I have been binge watching them for 3 days now. I'm new to house plants, my husband and I just bought a house with massive 20 foot south facing window. We just got a few satin pothos plants. Can you do a care video on pothos?
Hello! I have a heartleaf philodendron that I got from the clearance section of Walmart to nurse back to health. it wasn't actually that bad off, just had been severely overwatered in the recent rain. I put it in a pot of the correct size, let the soil dry out for about two weeks, and have been tending to it for about two weeks now. It has a bunch of leaf sprouts that should be unfurling a least a little, but haven't? I'm not sure what's wrong and want it to start trailing, but first priority is to not kill it!
My Baby Monstera I moved to a more lit window because it’s leaves we’re turning yellow . I do have a few nice green leaves . I believe I possibly overwatered it , I’m going to add some rocks for drainage because after watering I had it sitting in a tray and it sat in some water . . I had high hopes for this , hope it bounces back now that I’ve made a few changes tfs🌱🌿 I’ve gotten so many cool plants for free from cutting, so maybe I’ll invest in a established Monstera I really love that variety! I bought my mom a Lickity Split and it’s gorgeous I bought it for 12$ in Florida ☺️ and it’s a Huge , score 🤩
I just got a philodendron xanadu the other day and I love it! But I discovered it has tiny dry spots on the leafs so I've been searching for a answer to what it might be. I noticed in your video that some of your philodendron leafs also are spotty. Do you know why and what can be done? Should I even worry?
I inherited my philodendron from my grandmother she had it when I was born and I'm 40 so they do live forever I want to still doing great

I love Philodendron's and your collection is stunning❤️ Thank you so much for the tips!
Thank you so much for watching! (:
Awesome collection.
Great video Harli. I just love Philos. I have a Red emerald from a plant swap and it's gorgeous. Thanks for the tips. I want a pink princess and a Prince of orange. Those are impossible to find here in Barbados.😯
The Red Emerald ones are so incredible! I have my fingers crossed you are able to find one!
I'm on the lookout for a pink princess too!
Philodendron and Pothos have similar requirements but I know there are differences but all I've found are contradictory advice!!☺👍🌱🌿🌻🌹
Yeah who even knows anymore haha no matter what anyone says, someone will have an opposing opinion :P
So knowledgeable thank you luv these plants so easy too I hope?
Thank you my philodendron was getting to much direct sun light
and need to add probably a better fertilizer
Love, love, love philodendrons!
Oooo the pink lady is GORGE! I can dream haha I just got a dwarf variegated elephant ear...i thought it was a philadendrum but I'm not sure
I have been growing philodendrons here in South FL indoors and outdoors for over 20 years. Your pink princess needs humidity. I have quite a few pink princess over 4' growing on poles. My favorite is white knight. ...will send you some pics...cheers!
I was searching for a plant name everywhere from images, videos to google lens and got the answer here ! Thank you 😊
Love this-great tips! Love your awesome collection!😍I’m always looking for different ones-never ending, right!?
I'd love to see a video on humidity and more detailed info about soil! 👀 What's considered good humidity or too much? Is there a thing as too much? Everyone seems to be using Perlite, is Charcoal just as good? I'm a new plant mom. I've been doing alot of research before purchasing and since I have but it's so much easier to understand when a successful plant grower explains outloud 💚 Also, your eyebrows are so perfect 😍 haha ✌
Hubble Bubble her eyebrows are definitely perfect. I have always admired them!
Could you do a video on your fertilizing routine? I'm new with indoor plants and im confused/overwhelmed with fertilizing. Thanks! Love your videos!
Yes definitely! That is a great video idea, thank you! I remember just starting out, feeling super overwhelmed by it.
I have a birken philodendron. And a golden pothos. They're the only kind of plants I haven't killed!!! I Subbed.
Great video, I just bought two philodendron. These tips were very helpful, great video again.
Yay! Congrats on your new plant babies. I am glad you found the video helpful (:
Love the time stamps! Thank you💕
I’m glad you appreciate them! ❤️
Pink princess philodendron GOALS!
Philodendron are super cool! I currently have Brazil and rojo Congo. They love terrariums in my experience
will you do beginners care for arboricola schefflera
love your collection, thanks for sharing 👍👍
My Baby Monstera I moved to a more lit window because it’s leaves we’re turning yellow .
I do have a few nice green leaves . I believe I possibly overwatered it , I’m going to add some rocks for drainage because after watering I had it sitting in a tray and it sat in some water . .
I had high hopes for this , hope it bounces back now that I’ve made a few changes tfs🌱🌿
I’ve gotten so many cool plants for free from cutting, so maybe I’ll invest in a established Monstera I really love that variety!
I bought my mom a Lickity Split and it’s gorgeous I bought it for 12$ in Florida ☺️
and it’s a Huge , score 🤩
I just got a philodendron xanadu the other day and I love it! But I discovered it has tiny dry spots on the leafs so I've been searching for a answer to what it might be. I noticed in your video that some of your philodendron leafs also are spotty. Do you know why and what can be done? Should I even worry?
I think its called edema.
