  • Hello everyone! It has been a while since my last post, and I have missed sharing with you all. I have captured some incredible footage of birds and other wildlife that I am excited to share over the coming days, including my regular sightings and some from more remote parts of Tanzania.
Today, I want to focus on one of the most striking African Barbets, known for its vibrant combination of yellow, white, red, and black: D’Arnaud’s Barbet (Trachyphonus darnaudii emini). This particular subspecies, T. d. emini, is endemic to central and eastern Tanzania.
Interestingly, with the ongoing research and increasing cases of bird speciation, this subspecies may be further classified in the future. Should that happen, Tanzania could gain another endemic species-a remarkable addition to its already rich biodiversity, and a hopeful sign for the future.
