I’m just gonna jump in and say whoever is casted as Moses is mighty fine.
thanks for saving me the time
Along with literally everyone in the cast 🤪
Trueee
He’s Luke Brady!
agreed.
The costumes 💀💀💀
Costume department dropped the ball on this one
Emack B Hopefully they’ll improve as the show goes on
@@gracemoss1275 Yeah Hopefully, is not realistic at all
and it sank into the Red Sea
I suspect it would be hard to develop more accurate dress and still make it “danceable.”
When on stage, it looks so much better.
Moses looked like a millenial who rode a traveling machine. But hey, this got me chills
His voice is heaven but he dresses like the hippies in my town
AMAZING saw this the other day let me say Vocalsss, staging is amazinggggg not only that them dancers are crazyy, they are deffo stretching backstage, it was so smart how they did the scenes. the musicality is so good not surprised why they got nominated for the grammys
My dude at 0:15’s pants are being held up solely by sheer willpower
When Moses starts singing the line, it was so powerful it brought a tear to my eye.
the last musical I saw live prior to the pandemic. Ah, how much I want to see it again!!!!!
I was supposed to see this last Friday 😭 just hope I can get tickets when this is all over
Bought tickets for the 16th of March. 20 minutes before doors opened, they had to cancel the show upon the instructions of the government. Flew from Malaysia for this. *cries*
Suemitraa Aww no, I’m sorry 😞
Laura, did you get a refund? Broadway theaters were offering it, so I can't imagine West End didn't.
Trust me, you didn’t miss much. This was the only decent scene in the whole show.
@@andreamunoz6088 please don't tell me that, I have wanted a musical of prince of Egypt for ages 😭😭
That guy showing his pelvic v-line took me out of glorious eruption!
Lol I had to go back and rewatch it. And yeah it's like dude, chill it's not an underwear commercial
Ikr I noticed too and went "Wtf are you doing boi" he looks like he's on his way to the gym lmao
yes, I saw this too hahahahaha
Who was that?
I watched it live and my eyes automatically look into those delicious V lines. I need his Insta STAT!
This has made my day! I can’t wait for the soundtrack Friday! 🎭
dcemerald70 Are they releasing the soundtrack this Friday?
Michelle Muir yep! It’s on spotify :)
Costume department really said ''I want sexy slave fashion realness.''
So many beautiful people
It looks like a community production of Aladdin...the singing is fabulous though.
Well they're all Middle Eastern, right? 🤷♂️
They're all the same, really!
Singing is awesome but WHAT IS WITH THOSE COSTUMES?? what the heck is Moses wearing? Pants and a mesh shirt? WHAT IS THAT???!!
Bee B E E lol the costume design makes me not want to go see this musical despite the beautiful voices. Also, too many ripped people there...
@@Stratfordyork i agree. More insight is needed into this historical event. If you are going to earn money from this story, be respectful about it. Understand the lifestyle and customs back then. This looks to 'theatrical'. And I would have loved to see more ethnic representation too. Too many white ppl. Lol (yes, I am white, i can say that). Lol 🙃
I think they're going for a Jesus Christ Superstar Live! vibe...
I watched the show live and honestly this is not even bad compared to some of the others. I mean look at what hell Tzipporah is wearin??!!
Bee B E E honestly the music is really good but they could have googled what they wore back then to base the costumes on
Some more filmed footage from The Prince of Egypt at the Dominion Theatre in London filmed by Steam Motion & Sound UK and I like it
The costumes look like a mix of so many native cultures all over the world. It doesn’t scream Egypt clothing
You guys so lucky You can just go on the show ...im from Poland ...love 'ya
CHILLS. LITERAL CHILLS.
Just booked tickets to this and several other musicals for the summer holiday. Cannot wait to welcome the west end back
Had the opportunity to see this before the lockdown, one of the most moving musicals I’ve seen
Wow! They all look pretty!
I can't wait for the album release!
What are your ideas for a possible revamp in the costumes?
Those costumes, oh my goodness! Woman back then would NEVER wear such skimpy clothes, not matter what they were doing.
Yeah. I never thought I'd argue this, but I think they should stick to the costumes styles from the animate movie. They seem a bit more ethical for that time period.
@@michaelwilliamybarra2409 agreed. It is such a beloved film I don't think it was wise of them to mess with is so much.
Zipporah had an outfit similar to the midriff ones through most of the animated film. It's more based on the cartoon than history or the bible.
Go watch a documentary rather than a musical. Of course it should be skimpy because the choreography of this show is heavy and they couldn’t dance to it if the costumes were more historically accurate.
Wowza this gave me shivers
god i wanna see the parting so badly 😭
Remember, everyone, a recorded version of a musical or play NEVER looks as good as a live performance. Being in the theater creates an entirely different vibe.
Besides, the majority of the ensemble doesn't just play people - they have to play set pieces, too, like the Nile River. That's most likely what lead to the costumes being as generic as they are - they're designed to blend in.
DigiDestined13 I’ve seen it live twice and the costumes are horrible.
Have you seen the quick change in Cinderella or Legally Blonde? I'm sure they could have been able to change from slave to river in a few seconds. But no.
now why is moses wearing a fishnet shirt
This is exactly what i feared would happen to this story and musical
need this now! Lord save us from this plague of Corona!
Where can we find the full thing? The Hebrew chorus led by that curly headed girl is the best part
I don’t like the costumes they’re too sexy and modern! But this looks stunning!
omg! this musical could have the same potential as The Lion King. Its songs are amazing! It is a pity the staging does not measure up to it. It is not only the costume desing. I am not paying for this.
that guy on the middle left at 0:15 is hoooooot
Jan Mayo Niko Wirachman. His Instagram doesn’t leave much to the imagination.
Manjoe Chan wow! It certainly does not. 😳
Oh he’s hot AND gay. God bless you Manjoe Chan 😁😂
The costume designer thought so too 0_0
WOW
Sounds beautiful.
What on Earth are those costumes, though? Some of them are half-naked (or fully naked by ancient Hebrew standards).
i want Mose's mesh top!
Why did y’all do Moses like that
Full performance video plz
But why they dressed like indonesian native tribes?
Bruh I'm Indonesian and you're right 💀
Will that show ever do a tour in the USA. I hope they will come to Milwaukee WI sometime. I really want to see this show. I love the cartoon movie
The production team really was thinking, how can I make the life of moses more camp
Now i want a Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron show please !
YES! I was thinkng the same thing as well! they should Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron one of my favorite horse movies into a Broadway show, like War Horse, etc
How would that work?
@@Seussenshmirtz well just like the lion king broadway musical it can be people in horses outfit with native american indigenous style...
They literally took the costumes from The Ten Commandments and said: "here, wear this".
At least Moses in the Ten Commandments looked like Moses.
Here he looks like a rogue off to set sail.
They sound really good but I wish it were more powerful like their promo performance and their costumes are too modern and just doesn't fit the whole aspect of the show.
This Burning Man styling direction and everything looks soooo clean
I was hoping for a soprano role, but I don’t think that happened. Idk haven’t seen it , has anybody seen it ?
Does this musical have all the original songs
The costumes are AWFUL! Where did the designer get her inspiration? Magic Mike? Also This is supposed to be a heartfelt moment , I was not moved. Sorry producers you destroyed an incredible story by putting on this amateur product.
GET A LIFE. STOP.
Mia Lurzano I watched it live twice and they're right. It wad awful.
@@mialurzano7238 I think you should get a life
I really hope this show comes to America at some point. Prince of Egypt is easily the best animated movie ever made and one of my favorites of all time. It's not even close. I've heard mixed things about it, but I feel like I'll have a gold time even if it does suck.
Me too!! I’ve been listening to both the movie and musical soundtracks nonstop for the last couple of months, and while I can definitely see why most people would be underwhelmed by the view we got here, I think I would enjoy it regardless!! I really adore how Rameses got even more character depth and development than he already had- and how Moses is painted as more morally grey than he is in the movie. Admittedly, I thought the musical soundtrack was lukewarm the first time I listened to it, but I’ve come to love pretty much everything about it. Let’s hope it comes back and tours America!!
Very strange costumes, great singing though!
They need to fix the costumes desperately! Do your research on what Jews wear and you’ll find that Jews dressed modestly even in their times in Egypt.
This has me convinced now, everyone should advocate hunchback of notre dame on the west end and broadway and everywhere else. The acting in this just makes me sad in all the wrong ways tbh but maybe that was my fault for having had such high hopes for it when the news came out. For those looking for a practically infallible production, go check out the hunchback performed at La Jolla playhouse while it's still on YT.
PS. no one's paying me to say this or anything. I just love the Hunchback a lot (almost as much as the animated P.O.E) and feel a little let down by this P.O.E here and now think the west end should have invested in Hunchback instead.
Agree totally. Amazing production, pretty much perfection. Loved the music, actors, staging, costumes, everything about it. Definitely an adult take on the Disney movie, not caught trying to everything to everybody. Darker, edgier… and it succeeds beautifully! How I would love this particular musical to tour the country!
The costume looks fine tho
I love Moses it my favorite part in the Bible
That makes me think that a musical about King David would be really interesting, Psalms and everything.
Any tips for a frenchy who wants to see this without crossing the ocean ? 😭 this looks magical
I'll stick to the original animated one, thank you very much.
same
Same
is it just me or was the song a bit fast vs the original speed?
Did the run push through or was the opening of the show at West End put on hold because of Boris' lockdowns?
Love the music but um it’s kinda not brown enough 🤨
aweful EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING. so glad i’m not the only one
there's even people with blue eyes there. Gosh!
@@luizholiveira3105 Some Ethnic Jews have blue eyes....
Keshet Aylonit these are ancient North Africans though.
Andrea Munoz no they are ancient JEWS.
I went to see the Tuachon version of this! It was AMAZING! If they ever bring it back there, go there! It’s in Utah and they had actual water for Moses separating the river! Amazing stuff
“Hyou hwill hwhen hyou...behlieve.”
royette nunez when your singing your supposed to do that.
issa.akwardblackgirl maybe sometimes, but not all the time. And I think it shouldn’t have been done so strongly at that part cuz it was more of a softer part in the song.
Grow up.
Got to love the comments section..lol
Mariana 😍😍😍💋💋💋
i was hoping to see it for my birthday treat
I really want to audition for young Miriam in this show if I am not to tall.
Everyone is complaining about the costumes but I think maybe they were going for a sort of Jesus Christ Superstar thing
I think it's a poor decision if that's the case. I mean this musical is based on an animated film, they should've taken their visual direction from the film since that's what people are expecting.
And this don’t fit the story!
Why did the theatre version change the end of the story so that wicked pharaoh doesn't drown in the flood?
Moses here looking like ALW's Joseph
Not surprised this god cancelled. It’s not hard to get the costumes and casting right but they absolutely f’ed this one up.
I don't like their voices I expected more honestly!! But I am a huge fan of Stephen Shwartz so it's awesome the musical is now on Broadway ❤️
0:15 Abercrombie & Fitch campaign
0:27 i didnt know Ned from the try guys do theater.
Slab City hippies when the wheatgrass smoothie truck pulls up...
The voices are awesome, but the costumes are really going in the direction of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Kinda distracting.
That's actually exactly what it looks like 😂
those abs tho..
Not sure how anyone can watch this with this... Cast.
Main cast is good, the clothing is awful
Who casted, choreographed, directed, and then costumed this? It is appalling to the source material, especially if you wanted to portray an authentic HISTORICAL story that is beloved to millions. This is just another modern, whitewashed theatric stunt. Such a shame because the concept had such potential
Sounds like "The Prince of Egypt", looks like "Hair".
Thank you I was thinking the same thing
HOW IT SHOULD BE: ua-cam.com/video/tWlOLJFXdPw/v-deo.html
This is a serious question. Both the females sound relatively shrill to me. Like really light and wispy. But I recognize the original singers werent powerhouses so why do they sound so unattractive here to me vs in the movie? Just the voice? Just preference? Sound editing?
Hans Zimmer remix
Ok..is very good..but why moses is like an abercrombie model?
Okay good, i'm not the only one bothered by the costumes. This whole thing is so amazing, but they should've done more research about what they were wearing back then. Pretty sure they weren't wearing of shoulder crop tops at that time in the jewish culture...
The costumers were probably well aware of what people really wore at that time, they just changed it to fit the choreography, like the acrobatics and all.
Me, A dumbass Hamilton fan: I’m going to do it.
My brain: Don’t-
Me: *AND P E G G Y.*
Hmm... I’ve listened to the cast recording a bunch of times and love it, but… not a big fan of the costumes!
Moses met the 70s lol 😂
The costume is much more stylized than authentic. But I get it. It's stage, not film.
The performance is stunning, but what the heck is my girl Tzipporah wearing? She looks like she just came out of the Forever 21 clearance section. Y I K E S - the only one who really looks accurate is Marian. The rest of them are too (as others have said) hippie and Moses looks awkward as best.
What's with his mesh top? Does he work at a strip club?! Yikes
THIS IS A MUSICAL?!
It's based on an animated musical from DreamWorks from 1998: www.imdb.com/title/tt0120794/. It's quite excellent and moving. The stage production does not look like it comes anywhere close to the film.
when the play is all about slavery of Egyptian Pharaohs you need to be a physically fit like them
whoever designed the costumes needs to be fired
There is a video in the channel of the lady that designed them, I must mentioned that not even prostitutes dressed liked that back them. And I am pretty sure they will be a lot of christian families going to see this and getting horrified
As an Israeli Jew Moses is my dream roll
I know this is a story from the bible but 0:15 damn that v-line on the guy on the left side of the screen. God forgive me!
why are there soooo many white people in this cast!?!?! I'm actually so sad
Look, they sound incredible, but Moses is supposed to be an old shepard leading his people to freedom after a 40-year journey. Why does he look like a stoner studying abroad in college?
Pretty sure ancient Jewish women did not dress like that.
Neither Egyptians as catholic priests
I think costume department needs to go back to the drawing board. I get the performers need something easy to move around in, but this ain’t it.
Where are the black people
