My career goal is to become a cloud security Architect. I am currently Chasing my credentials (Degrees, Certs, Internships/experience) do you have any advice for me ? What's a day in a life of a Cloud Security Architect look like?
Hey 👋🏽 have you joined on IG? I do alot of day in the life videos there. I also shared a video two weeks ago regarding my journey into cloud security architecture which could be helpful to you 🌸
I am currently learning in the google cloud space as well! Just trying to figure out how to go further into it. Like how long did it normally take you to fully learn in the cloud security space?
Hey 🌸, Learning cloud security is definitely a continuous journey. The time it takes to become proficient can vary, typically a few months to a year for foundational knowledge, depending on your pace and background. But to become an expert is an ongoing process; for me it has been about 18months of continuous learning while in the field, I moved from other spaces in cybersecurity to focus deeper into a cloud security role.
Oh wow that is awesome!! I am in the process of learning Google cloud and doing cyber security so this is definitely going to be a good and fruitful process for me!! I look forward to definitely learning more and expanding my skillset within the cloud!! Thank you so much!! You are awesome!!
Hey 🌸 Starting a journey into cybersecurity as a non-tech person is exciting! 🌟 Keep in mind that you may first focus on the foundational knowledge before going into the Security Architect space, here are a few steps. 💡Foundational Knowledge: Start with basic IT and networking concepts. Platforms like Coursera offer beginner-friendly courses. 💡Learn Cybersecurity Basics: Understand core security principles. TryHackMe and Cybrary have great introductory content. 💡Hands-On Practice: Engage in practical experiences. HackTheBox and LetsDefend offer real-world simulations. 💡Specialize in Security Architecture: After grasping the basics, delve into security architecture-specific courses and resources. 💡Soft Skills: Develop problem-solving, communication, and project management skills, essential for architects. 💡Certifications: Consider certifications like CISSP (you need experience for this), which are highly regarded in the field. 💡Network and Learn Continuously: Join cybersecurity communities and keep updating your knowledge.
Looking to get into cloud security with azure. I would be a beginner but i work in healthcare it, in operations. What would be the best first step? google cyber certificate of microsoft ( since its azure based)? i feel like the google one is more beneificla since it intodouces sql, linux, and python. But even with these certs where do i go from here to gain hands on experience?
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your aspirations! It's great that you're considering a career in cloud security with Azure. I would suggest starting with the Google Cyber Certificate, as it covers important aspects like SQL, Linux, and Python. Once you have the certification, you can move into more specific vendor-based certs like all of the Microsoft Cloud certs. But having foundational knowledge is really important.
Hi, my end career goal is to get into cloud security engineering. I put together something that looks like a path for me but I need help with knowing if it's good to start off with. - Google Cybersecurity course - Microsoft Cybersecurity analyst (I assume this is the entry point for cloud security) - Azure Security operations. Will these be enough to get entry level roles? Then I continue learning the AZ500 in the long run? I am truly having a hard time with mapping out the path, and what to learn in the right order.
It sounds like you've got a solid plan in place! Those courses and certifications should definitely help you get started in the field. Keep up the great work! Also check out my UA-cam video where I explain how to get into Cloud Security: ua-cam.com/video/rXe-VVNvOtI/v-deo.html

Hi Venisa, I want to get into cloud security, i am currently transitioing into cybersecurity from software engineering background. Doing master in cybersecurity. My qs is that with the right certifications can i get directly into cloud security? Like don't want to work as soc analyst etc. Can you guide? Thank you.
Hey Transitioning directly into cloud security is definitely possible with your background in software engineering and ongoing cybersecurity studies. Certifications like AWS Certified Security, Azure Security Engineer Associate, or Google Cloud's Professional Cloud Security Engineer can be particularly useful. These certifications, coupled with your master's degree and software experience, can position you well for specialized roles in cloud security. Focus on certifications that match your interest and the job market needs, and you'll be well on your way!
Hey there! Daily tasks for an Azure Security Engineer involve keeping Azure resources secure, monitoring for threats, and implementing security measures to safeguard data. Hope this helps!
