I hope you know this was made pre protools, fl studio, logic etc. Turntable, MPC 3000 and an amazing ear was all he had to make his music. As far as the drums, the MPC doesn't come with all these thousands of sounds you get in a daw now a days so these drums were probably taken from a compilation of collected drum samples from old records. We're spoiled now a days....

    • @brandonphillips5948

Brandon Phillips that's exactly what I said.. Even with as many drum and sound kits that I've downloaded, songs I've ever sampled, they'd never compare to Dilla, Nujabes, or 9th Wonder.

TXasTrill Razaa Dilla was a wizard on the MPC. I bought my 1000 because of Dilla but I still hook up the midi cables to use it with my DAW sometimes too so no hate towards producers who don't use hardware, if it's dope music, it's dope music.

Mike z, you thought I wouldn't do it,
but then I heard the beat and the pen just started movin,
I put it on repeat and get focused on the feelin,
and every now and then I drop real deep into it,
like man what you smokin while you sippin on those fluids,
I only come respectin master Dilla when I do dis,
      true shit,
the words so flowy like water is the movement,
bet your heart thumped cus you thought that you knew this,
      bought it,
      then brewed it,
      its bottled as proof bitch,
      stop naggin me man,
yo you really are a nuisance,
I'm in traffic and jammin yo these speakers are the truest,
in the bleachers shit was tragic,
      eighth grade and hoodlum,
      got away like magic,
cops never got to book him.

J Dilla's Beat Music, 2006 R.I.P movement, such a beast, makes me proud to be human, no amount of words is as fluid, on every curve I hear he's undisputed, suited for any event like Ray Lewis, every sample deep rooted, no sewage in his think juices, adjusted his Nikes to It, despite Lupus he Just Do It. Thanks Jay for your influence, everyday feels the newest when I drop a Donut or two in.

man, beats from producers like Dilla and Najubes and overall amazing producers effect me the same way a classical piece would, for years I've been a classically trained musician and listening to kanye and dilla opened a new world to me that I'm so grateful to know and learn. Rip Dilla and Najubes, those two alonged with Brian Wilson changed my world musically.

i remember playing this back in christmas eve of 2017, i was visiting my aunts house for a party and just seeing all the christmas lights on at night with the cold breeze and this playing in my head really made that night nice, since then, this song reminds me so much of that time.

I was always stuck on Nujabes for the longest. Heard Flowers a thousand times.
...but then I read about J Dilla, finally heard his version of flowers and the cosmic coincidence that is the YIN & YANG of hip hop.
I wonder if you two ever had the chance to meet when both of you were alive. If not, I bet you're both having fun collaborating now!!!

Anihilist That's why I love Dilla's music so much, you can just feel something special when you hear it. I saw an interview with him where he said when he made music he wanted people to be able to feel what he was feeling, and I think you can tell he really meant that when you listen to his music because of the way it can feel so deep without even having any lyrics.

Seeds planted, just waiting to sprout
It's dark in the dirt; I need a way out
    Feel built with beauty inside
Will wilt if sun n water won't coincide
Don't wanna die before my time
Green but growing; love the sunshine
Need rainy days so my roots can unwind
Fun! I'm, ... beginning to bud
Come a long way from thin in the mud
    The Crafter grooming me soon
Prune me; I'll be blooming in June
    Catching eyes, causing romancing
My scent in the air marauding n dancing
    Like to parlay in town gardens;
On the windowsill once the ground hardens
Seasons change, soon I'm pastille glue
See ya annually; its what perennials do
    Flowers bloom, soon petals fall
Hours consume til settled and called
Back to where it started; I'm close; germane
Fertile soil by my compost remains
