I'm a filmmaker and Dilla's music would be great on film. I wish he had the chance to score a movie because his music had beautiful atmosphere rich with emotion. Woulda been a great marriage to music like this.
man, beats from producers like Dilla and Najubes and overall amazing producers effect me the same way a classical piece would, for years I've been a classically trained musician and listening to kanye and dilla opened a new world to me that I'm so grateful to know and learn. Rip Dilla and Najubes, those two alonged with Brian Wilson changed my world musically.
I was just thinking about what you said. It's very true that he had some "extra" something on his music and it will stand the time test. For sure. I mean, they've already done orchestral versions to some of his music.
Anihilist That's why I love Dilla's music so much, you can just feel something special when you hear it. I saw an interview with him where he said when he made music he wanted people to be able to feel what he was feeling, and I think you can tell he really meant that when you listen to his music because of the way it can feel so deep without even having any lyrics.
I wish they showed the song name and artist. The 5 second beats they have in between commercials always have my head bumping and wondering who made the beat?
Beautiful words that sums up my 3am thoughts trying to forget about lifes problems . I put this beat on and all is forgotten. That's the beauty of music.
Dilla is something else. Some of his beats make me feel something I can’t explain. Take me on mental trip without drugs. Got me contemplating the universe and our existence as a species and shit. Just wanna take a long drive at night and listen to a comp of his beats...
Smokin flowers ever hour, with the purple sour and certain power, that put you to sleep, got me goin Mike Tyson on beats, and only when a blunts between my lips is when my cypher complete, these fire rhymers try to compete, but I'm spitting acid through my teeth, and grasping the shit that's lacking, blastin through the streets, I'm lyrics on the beat, not weak shit with hot beats, The Golden Era in my dreams, is on the future TV screen...I still flip bricks with the triple beam, but my scheme is to hustle till reality hits my dream.
Everything about this song just appeals to my tastes and loves when it comes to hip-hop. Dilla always knew how to hook up his listeners with some inspirational melodies.
flowers brain storm showers putting shit id like to say together for hours it seems i got the power im gifted no denying the difference i mean… I'm fly it means.. i can see for the blind poetry flowing from me welcome to my introverted mind you don't feel me like snuck up from behind you can have it when I'm done but the world is mine the world is mine.
Takes me back to when I started rapping as a freshman 4 years ago. I’m a senior with some project under my belt now, this is still the first beat I ever added to my beat playlist. I still feel like it’s too good to rap on. LLJD
...Rest easy to one of the best. You put a million smiles on even after your death. Hit play, rewind, and the rhythm injects a spiritual kind of revival inside of your chest. Dude thanks. First time I've ever posted one. Thought it was worth saying. I've been rapping for almost 2 years. I want to make my own tracks but as usual money is a problem.
On a J Dilla beat like it was the heavenly harmony/ Presently committing these felonies, killing this mic angrily/ Chilling these bones, a legendary spirit dwells in me/ I channel his energy, like Goku, I cancel these evil entities/ ... Hip hop taking conquest like the white horse/ I price flows similar to nitros and Christ knows/ The rhyme glows, avoiding the snake like dice rolls/ Appointing the flank like the Battle of Shiloh/ Storming the brain like Professor Xavier in his prime though/ The real lives in us forever like the build up of DNA code/ ... Envision this moment, the gun pointed at someone, you angrily hold it/ Matter of fact, he's the guy that looked at your money and stole it/ You pull the trigger not knowing his motive/ The truth effects more than selfish acts and you'll eventually know it/ He needed to feed his children so who leads the greater example of men?/ The taker of life or the forgiver of sin that was sent?/ I show you the way, the answer is like the inside of a cereal box/ You need to open up to feed the people first before you deliver the shot/ Let's rewind time for a second, who inspired these flows?/ God, his Son, and J Dilla planted the seed so here is my toast/ RIP J Dilla

This was released in 2008 because it was a CD compilation made by Dilla's brother, Illa J, in the album "Sunset Blvd". J Dilla made it some time before he died, so all I know is when it was released, sorry.

It's like J Dilla captured the spirit of the universe in his songs

This track in particular reminds me of the late great Nujabes, really laid back mesmerizing tracks. Glad to see the style live on.
They were born same day, died same month. Both the greatest.
Sodboey Best Nujabes joint, in my opinion, also titled Flowers.
Nujabes has a "Flowers" too
I clicked on this link because I remembered Nujabes' "Flowers" and wanted to hear J Dilla's one too, haha. Geniuses. Both of them.
NUJABBESS!
J dillas beats always inspire me to write and to express myself. Thank you for all the wonderful talent you've brought to this world! R.i.p j dilla
It’s 2020 and J Dilla’s music is STILL RELEVANT 🕊💕
Nujabes and J Dilla are amazing

There's a certain warmth to J dillas beats that nobody else can seem to capture. It's like that feeling of drinking a whiskey on a cold day.
God Made A Freestyle To This. R.I.P Dilla.
Anyone else get into producing because of Dilla?

Happy Father’s Day too 😅
The bassline almost sounds like it's singing or humming! Love that sound ❤
There's just this overwhelming sense of calm when I listen to J Dilla. Requiescat in pace.
I was just thinking about what you said. It's very true that he had some "extra" something on his music and it will stand the time test. For sure. I mean, they've already done orchestral versions to some of his music.

Until you listen to House of Flying Daggers and get all hyped up. Or that Ghostface joint "Murder Goons"
It takes a quality gifted ear to take all of the these sounds and put them into an MPC to create this kaleidoscope of ill shit.

Beat's been on blast
And cast a real brain spiller

no more passive mind shit,
i can fly don't need to para-glide with,
any equipment,
the mind of a child is where the revolutions begins,
so i'm standing next to the children,
reach into the depths of their vision,
to express what they're thinking,

One the greatest to ever do it
High hat hair piece

Room for error,

Out side wind up,
Skirts match lit lamps
Dimmed wits end stats book,

One thing Two many,
Times new Roman soldiers
Oath is ready,
Aim fire truck driving drunk history,

Was that even English bro?
Looked more like a pile of incomprehensible gibberish to me.

I'm rappin' lovely and they just rappin' bummy
Bumping something from the south that ain't really country
But it's something for the lean and chop & screw beats
I'm in Texas but I wanna be in the beast
Coastal where the flows is dope
And I can create soulful
Music cause that's just how's I do it
And these other cats stay drooling over shit that we don't need
Hitting the plug for ecstasy and codeine
Thinking they so clean
They all relatively garbage to me.
