  • Kawasaki KLR250 riding in the Rocky Mountains. The KLR is stock, except for a UNI air filter, Ricochet skid plate, and your basic free legal modifications. The motorcycle is as tough as an ox. Maintaining the bike properly is key. This KLR is also used as a gas saver. I Log my miles without discrimination into the 'motominder' app on the IPhone at each fuel stop. 70mpg is what I average with mostly street riding.
This video was shot on a Gopro Hero2 in 720p wide. The raw footage is much more crisp than what an IPad 2 is able to generate in IMovie; which is how this video was edited.

Thank you for the comments! The worse the road is, the more fun it is! Good luck with getting rid of the water!

No problem. I stripped my KLR down this weekend; and the hose is from the fuel tank, not the carb. It is a pressure release valve, and should just hang. If you overfill the gas tank and close the cap, a bit of extra fuel will run out of the tube.

The hose is probably from the carburetor. I believe there is one in front of the rear tire; and one peeking out from the rear fender on what would be the driver's side, just before the license plate mount. They are fuel drain tubes, there as basically a pressure release for an over-full tank, or to drain the carb. If the hose is hanging low enough to cause worry about getting snagged on something, or caught in the chain, then I would trim it.

Thanks for the comment. I had a trail related incident that claimed my stock fender. This is an Acerbis that was intended for either a klx250, or a klr650. I have not been able to get to the end of that trail. I dropped her real hard on a rocky slope a couple times. Made it up the slope another time just to find an 80's lifted Toyota who had just lost his entire electrical system(on a steep, narrow, rocky section). Talk about WCS.

Hello... I have a 2005 KLR 250... I am not very smart about maintenance so I thought I'd ask you a question. I have a black hose hanging down quite far in front of my back tire. It seems to be connected and routed fine higher up but do you know if maybe it popped out of somewhere...needs to be tucked in/tied somewhere?

I will make a valves video, but it is currently below freezing, with snow on the ground. So it will be a couple months before I am able. The bike is winterized right now. Valves are an afternoon job, only taking an hour or 2. If you cannot wait for a video from me, I will put a link to a klr250 how-to page in the description of the video. I cannot post a link in a comment, and a PM. Half way down the page is a how-to with pictures. It is how I learned. If you have any questions message me

Nice bike, looked like mine at first-nice front fender. That trail looks difficult, but maybe's it's just the Rocky's never been there.
Shout to MotorMudMomma, hope you got that fixed.
