I have a 2017 KLR that I purchased new. One of the first, and definitely most important, things I did was change the sprockets; 1 tooth smaller in front, 1 tooth bigger in back (that way there is no need to change chain length). Best decision ever if you want a more off-road able KLR.
You might be the first person in history to call the KLR650 "fast". It's a pig of a bike. Old, heavy, outdated, and slow but also stone reliable and adequate at nearly everything. The main reason it's so widespread is COST. These were the cheapest new bikes in the class over many years. It's basically a two wheeled farm tractor built to last decades.
@@WheelieWeasel Well, thats true. But sheer top speed can be gearing. I can get a minibike to run 60mph, but it is not "fast" by any means. That said, don't think I'm hating! I love farm tractor japanese bikes! They last forever with even half assed care.
@@ManiacRacing a mini bike running 60mph is fast. You’re missing the meaning between fast and quick. Quick is when something gets to a high speed in a short time. Fast is when something hits a high rate of speed in whatever time it takes. I’ve just always went by that and know hundreds of people who do That doesn’t mean I disagree lol the klr650 isn’t really all that fast but going stock 100mph on dirt is kinda crazy
@@WheelieWeasel Yeah. I grew up with open class two strokes, so my definitions of fast might not be the same as most. I have always loved stupidly overpowered toys
If you ever gets your hands on a klx 650c you may never let it go. Seems like a klr at first until you notice the perimeter frame, inverted forks, and extra HP. If you ride a klr like that I can't wait to see you on the klx 650
"THIS BIKE IS FAST!" - said no KLR 650 owner ever. I say that as a former KLR 650 owner. I could wheelie it from first to fifth gear, but it is nowhere near fast :D
@@larryjanson4011 yup they know to stay home and the paved road where cars go by has so little traffic that everyone who comes through knows who she is lol some of them give her treats
I’m also 5,2 and when I sit on a yz125 two stroke I can kinda fit but I have to slightly tilt the bike to even touch my toes to the ground so I’d say a lowering kit would be best but if you can’t get one you should be fine just a little uncomfortable but I don’t think that matters too much unless your going really slow
Compared with what? A sports bike? I had an older one and as an inexperienced rider it was too much bike for me. Now I've got more experience I want another one. For a dirt squirter they're pretty wild. Also being taller, it was the perfect size for me. Just way too much power for a beginner.
@ I think that’s definitely what was done then. It was a 2006 but had the 2003 look. Either way the gen 1 KLRs grew on me over the years they’re so good
@@WheelieWeasel Na man something needs adjustment. It should not wobble. the brace is clamped to tight or fork oil lvls are differant between fork tubes. it could be one of many things that causes a wobble. it should not wobble at all when set up p-roperly
@@infesting thats simply not the case. When the front end is STIFF and I’m doing 75mph+ it’s easy to get wobbly. When I jerk the clutch in fast and yank up on the shifter it makes it wobble and the speed that I’m going it’s way too fast to not wobble. Ever heard of speed wobbles? I mean if you want I can show ya literally every single thing is tight. It doesn’t need a single thing. I only weight 130lb so I literally don’t weigh enough to even budge the suspension. Hell yea man what a beast! Honestly the way you go on and off the road the klr is perfect.
I appreciate it and you ain’t kidding!
I used to own a 2005 KLR, loved that thing, took it to windrock Offroad park and crashed quick 😂. You’re right though, it’s a big ass bike!
Your a great rider and man I love your attitude and energy so good to see someone love riding.....Godspeed brother!
I appreciate that, it means a lot! Happy Trails!
I have the same bike 2003, same color, 60,600km on it now, did 170kmph down a huge hill 😆love it!

That’s the truth and they are fast but they aren’t quick. Any single cylinder bike that will run 100mph is pretty fast

I would love to have one! When I was a little light a few years back I had a XR650R, it’s on the channel here!
That is how to RIDE a KLR!!!!! People saying it can't do these things...you have to RIDE IT!!!!
100% these things love to be rode HARD!
How do your dogs keep up at highway speeds !
I'm pretty sure the sprockets have been changed to give it better highway speed. Maybe a big bore kit to. Seems to be pretty strong runner.
Has a aftermarket exhaust and jetting idk if the gearing was changed I think it was stock but the thing was fast!

Is there gone be a fishing video with bikes ?
Gonna be posted tomorrow! Just went fishing today!
Awesomeness
do your dogs know to stay home and not get out on the paved rd were cars are at?

What levers are those? Been trying to find some adjustable shorties for my '06.
Some eBay specials lol. Go to eBay and search up “Unbreakable dirt bike levers for *enter bike make and model*”
Nice wheelies!
I appreciate it!
Nice vidddd that klr is sweet I'm 5/2 do u think I'll be able to fit on a 125 2t??
get a lowering link itll help

It’ll be a lil tough but it’s definitely possible. It’ll be like me on this 650 lol. If you got some skill you’ve got it under control
only if you've got a lot of experience already, i could only tip toe on my yz 125 and I was 5'7
awsome thumper!
Sure is!
I love the content
Thanks for show some love!
KLR 650's fuckin MOB.
I agree with the high gearing.
I wish #1 was a granny gear but, it ain't
1st gear on these things are like 2nd or 3rd on a 450 race bike lol it’s so dang tall for some reason
What bars are those?!
Some eBay pro taper knock offs
Good thing the KLR has a huge tank. 😂
That’s the truth! 😂
Factory gearing??
Yup
I’ve got a 91 and I’m a big boy, I feel no need for anything else. I’m not racing anyone.
Someone changed the sprockets
size good for wind n disantce world travel
Nice Mirrors !
Lol
MPH or KMPH?
Mph
Wait what the hell you just leave your dogs on side of road😂
No lol, they’re like maybe a minute from owned land. They just go back home
KLR 650 and FAST should never be uttered in the same sentence lol. I have a 2024 and I love it but they aren't fast at all.
