Finally! Thanks for this video. Great to see Goodwin's theme music getting the attention it deserves. I loved Murder She Said and dashed out to get the theme music as soon as I could--on a 45 rpm record!!!!!
Ms Marple as Margret Rutherford was very popular here in Germany too. The best and only for me still. :) A very nix longer mix, thanks for the good memory. ^^
Rollicking - Rollicking - Rollicking!!! This is a Masterpiece!!! You haven't lived until you have watched Miss Marples Movies, and Immersed Yourself In The Soundtracks Themselves!!! - I'm having to much of a good time here!!!
Great soundtrack music from the four Miss Marple-Margaret Rutherford film. Ron Goodwin composed outstanding music. I never get tired watching Margaret Rutherford, outstanding actress!
Beautiful music, and totally amazing films. Margaret Rutherford was the perfect Miss Marple. Wish she had done more than the four films. But I adore watching them 💜💜💜💜
In the early 70's a theatre used to play this tune during the interval. Just to hear this tune I used go a number of times to just hear this tune. Now I hear it daily on my mobile. Thanks a million.
@Ali Cuntë British actress Joan Hickson did a superb job as Miss. Marple in the 1980s, although I enjoyed Miss. Rutherford as well. She had a dramatic, almost comical flair when she uncovered the murderer.
Not bad for a working class kid. Thank you Mr. Goodwin for such distinctive, quirky theme music befitting the characterizaion of Miss Marple by the great M.R.
This music and these beautiful pictures of London looking so beautiful and magic is surreal ... it is so sad what we are all going through right now ...but Ms Marple movies and the music is taking me back to a happier time, not too long ago ...
This fuge at 16:49 is a real masterpiece for a soundtrack! 👌 And so lovely and beautifully played! I didn't even know before reading about this fuge that each instrument symbolizes one appearing character in the scene, while pointing the murder using the transverse flute in the scene when Miss Marple finds the poison strychnine, locked into a medicine safe in the sick bay: 1) The cembalo (harpsichord) symbolizes Miss Marple snooping around. 2) The violoncello starts when Captain De Courcy Rhumstone leaves his berth. 3) The transverse flute marks the appearing of Commander Breeze-Connington. This flute appears shortly again in the strychnine scene. 4) The sound of a viola starts when Matron Fanbraid leaves her berth. Sadly, the fuge stops here and doesn't play the following parts. 5) A clarinet plays when Assistant Matron Shirley Boston appears on the corridor. 6) When Commander Dimchurch enters the room, a vibraphone starts playing. The choice of instruments is worth highlighting too: 2) violoncello and 4) viola are both strings: maybe marking the hidden relationship between Captain De Courcy Rhumstone and Matron Fanbraid. 3) transverse flute and 5) clarinet are both wind instruments: maybe marking the complicity in robbery between Commander Breeze-Connington and Ass. Matron Boston. Well: a very remarkable, nice masterpiece!
you can relax to this music, but never to much, perfect mix...thinking of my child when ms marple and pure mr stringer drove arround and pretented to collect things for some Bazar

Great Ring Tone Too - My sister is the family matriarch and as such she "Knows all Things about everybody" by quite simply being a great detective interrogator 🕵♀and you do not even know she has wheedled all this info out of you, so I have use this theme tune as my ring tone for her 😀
Listening to it in Saigon (after telling my Vietnamese girlfriend about the films) and Saigon River looks a lot like the Thames now! Thank you very much for uploading the symphony and the pictures!

Margaret Rutherford truly was a great British actress. As "Miss Marple" she was what scriptwriters and directors told her to be. End of story. That this had nothing to do whatsoever with underlying plots as published by Agatha Christie, the latter had to put up with - painfully - after having given her initial generous consent arguably based on poor legal advice.

Best Marple Music ever.
Wonderful music. Just wonderful. There is only one Miss Marple, and that is Margaret Rutherford. And only one Ron Goodwin.
I think the Joan Hickson fans might have something to say about that.

love the hunt music in Murder at the Gallop! and, of course, the great scene where Miss Marple does the Twist!!
Ahh, the beautiful, sound of "the swinging sixties".👍
As a kid I'd place a tape recorder up to the speaker on the t.v. every time these classic movie's was on just to record the theme

"nothing to do whatsoever with underlying plots" is certainly not true for the first film.

For me The only Miss Marple is Margaret.
I completely agree. It's like trying to recast Columbo.

Are those pictures of St Mary Mead as it is today? How I hate spineless planning committees!

It's a matter of taste and generation.
