Thanks everyone!
I took a leap of Faith on a Reverb deal for a New Fender Mahogany Parlor and was shocked how much I liked it. I just wanted a Thinline acoustic that basically played like an electric. The volume unplugged is really impressive. Didn''t care for the Acoustasonic... but this Parlor is a winner
Ordered mine today 🤝🏻
I absolutely love mine. It had some fret sprout when I got it but I fixed that. Otherwise it's a fantastic guitar. Loud acoustically. No feedback. Sounds great. Very usable for stage performance and a great couch guitar.
I have that exact model and I absolutely love it. Regarding the lack of body, add a Nux Optima Air (acoustic preamp and IR loader) with the Martin J45 IR blended at 50-70% and as they say "Bob's your uncle!" I'm running it like that with the studio compressor and some plate reverb through my Fender Tonemaster Pro into the Fender FR10 FRFR speaker and its glorious.
Thanks for the organic review, you have warmed me to go try one out for myself at my local dealership. I so didn’t want to like this guitar but after seeing this, it’s got me thinking
Stunning axe!🙂
I have the Mahogany Dreadnought and I love it. Like someone else said, I had quite a bit of fret sprout, but it is fantastic other than that. The contour (tone) knob is pretty much useless in my opinion, but I am ok with that.
Great review as always!
Thank you very much!!
A good songwriting guitar. Won’t annoy the neighbors too much. If I had the money…
Well... Glad you asked... I think and I must disagree with your astute opinions here...
The guitar was designed with Alex in mind. Sunday arvo on the Queenslander balcony with a few mates over. There's clapsticks, triangle etc, with Alex leading on his Fender, icy cold beer within reach.
It's a fun acoustic!
Have a great Christmas fellas and a fun and safe new year
Cheers.
Edit: dunno what's up with the fender marketing team? It should have been called: The Aussie. 🤔
Thanks for this review and its predecessor a few months ago. I'm looking for a guitar that:
1) Can be played through a PA with a decent steel-string acoustic sound, but that, with the push of an effects box button, can be pressed into service as an okayish electric rock'n'roll rhythm/backing guitar. Having two separate guitars is not an option; neither is a standalone amp.
2) Has the fretboard feel of an electric -- my acoustics are getting too hard on my arthritis.
Could the Highway series work for me?
As a beginner, less than a year of playing and learning, I have the Fender DC-60 acoustic all mahogany (yes, I have sentimental attachment to it). Would the Fender Highway series be a good step up?
👍🏿🤘
So, it's for Nancy Wilson of Heart? Everything you said that was the criteria for whom this guitar is best suited fits Miss 'These Dreams' to a T.
Hehe…
Almost like a Fender Acoustasonic
No money and I really really want one. Especially the Dreadnought natural dark color. Gotta find a way…
The damn thing actually sounds like a damn acoustic guitar not some over priced digitized wanabe. It really comes across like a microphone on a parlor and not a PU. If I wanted an acoustic in my band again I would not look further. I would record with it too. It would lay in the mix like I spent hours trying to get my the Martin to. The Martin I gave up on and sold it.
Yeah I was very surprised at how good it sounds…the build quality is great too…and the case is great!!
Plugged in it sounds like a bad Taylor pup system. That headstock on an acoustic alone would give me pause. You’d have to look a long time for any Martin that would be sold in favor of this.
Free meal
There has never been a good Fender acoustic.
That’s a big statement…I think this guitar is pretty good…but whatever you think you think
