- Dr Kate Fielden from the Stonehenge Alliance explains the problem with the Stonehenge road scheme driving a chasm through the World Heritage Site to Germany's public broadcaster ARD. Exemplary interview. #SaveStonehenge #StonehengeTunnel
Build a new road further away, and turn the current road into part of a low speed entranceway, and visitor parking. This seems like contractors who want to line their pockets. Whoever came up (Or wants to approve) this stupid idea, has no business getting involved with UNESCO sites.
Yeah I totally don't understand why they can't construct a new road (4 lanes) more to the south - problem solved, and likely much cheaper than a tunnel ...
OTOH the protests against this tunnel seem exaggerated - I mean, come on, putting this road with its obnoxious traffic underground will be a blessing ... I guess some people just need to whine about everything :-D
So will this destroy the stonehenge??
No a tunnel won't destroy stonehenge its going under the archeology not through it
@@davelee4885 ohhh I see
It will destroy millions of ancient artefacts underneath the site.
There's no problem with the tunnel I live locally and can't wait for it to be done the only people against the tunnel don't actually live here and have to put up with insessant traffic hold ups and jams . The tunne is going under the stones and will not damage any archeology
A longer tunnel would be a solution, the short one is not.
“Traffic jams” wow. First world problems. Let’s destroy a piece of history that is one of the absolute oldest in our living world today because your poor polluting earth destroying cars that your fat butts sit on all day because you are to lazy to walk/bike/ride a horse are going to be all crammed together like sardines on a road. First world problems.
