      Thanks for getting back to me! So now last question. Between the 2019 BMW S1000R and the Yamaha MT-09. There is an 2300 euro price difference in South Africa. Would you get the cheaper yamaha or pay more for the BMW? Sry I know they are not in the same class, but when I look at a KTM 890R or Street Triple RS there are the same prices as a 2019 BWW in South Africa. Any suggestions?

    I've coveted that motorcycle since it first came out. I would choose it over the competition for sure, Yes I am a BMW fanboy. I have a couple of bikes with 170+ HP. which is crazy power for the street. For me the sweet spot is about 150hp - 80ft/lbs and under 460 lbs wet weight. Any more power than that is simply for bragging rights. IMO when the weight drops below 430 wet lbs the bike a little light for long high speed stints on the highway where you appreciate a little weight. I'm in the market for a solid used hex or camhead 1200RT which better suits my advancing age. I'll leave the S1000R's for the younger folk.

      Well, this is a super naked bike, the GSX is not. Also, that is why the other liter bikes are not in the chart: Honda, Kawasaki, Triumph...etc. they are liter bikes but not super nakeds. Nice review as always Scott. The S1000R is not my bike anyway, because I find the engine to sound annoying. But that's just my opinion!
    Another question I have is:
    Do you have the subtitles activated for your videos? Because I've got them deactivated, but in your videos they keep being activated.
    They are distracting and I usually don't need them anyway.
    I don't ask you to deactivate them, because there might be people who need them. I just want to be sure if I have to argue with UA-cam if you didn't activate them.
    Take care and ride safe 👍

    • @NothingToProve
      @NothingToProve  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Simon, oh, you have your German subtitles turned on, it will only show on videos that have German subtitles, if you watch a video that does not have them, it won't show them. Since my videos do actually have German subtitles and you have them turned on, it will show them to you. Just turn them off by clicking the "CC" button in the bottom right of the video. 👌👍

    • @NothingToProve
      @NothingToProve  3 роки тому +1

      BTW, I don't like the engine sound either! A super naked needs to sound cool and this simply does not. 😥

    • @simonlutt9849
      @simonlutt9849 3 роки тому

      @@NothingToProve I deactivated the subtitles long ago in my UA-cam-Settings.
      But it seems to me that this is of no use if the video itself has them activated, just like yours.
      So I'll keep deactivating them.
      Thanks for the quick response Scott👍😎

    Hi Scott, Was hoping you would have shown more footage of you hustling it through the bends. Also are there any vibes through the bars and pegs? I rode the previous gen last year and I found this very noticeable which put off it despite liking the S1000R a lot. It did feel very wide to me, the tank and engine. I got the impression from you that this new S1000R is nice, but it didn't really float your boat. Agree with you 100% about BMW FINALLY giving it their flagship TFT.
    Today I sat on a KTM SDR 3.0 and it's so small! Everything felt right, the handle bars, saddle height and width, and position of the foot pegs were all good for me. Will go back to the KTM dealer later in the week for a test ride. Can't wait. Also when do you think you'll be riding and reviewing Triumph's new Speed Triple RS? ATB.

    • @NothingToProve
      @NothingToProve  3 роки тому

      Hi Alex, yea the vibes are still there but a little less...not much less but still less. And yes, one of the reasons for going to the RR frame was to make it narrower and that felt a lot better. And yes you are right about not "floating my boat", it's just way to perfect, no soul, uninspiring, clinical, surgical are all words I'd use to describe it. But that is my personal opinion and I try to stay objective in a review.
      Yea, if I were to go back to a supernaked, I'd take a Tuono or SDR, those two bikes move the soul in different ways that a BMW will only dream about doing.
      take care,
      Scott

    • @alexmorgan3435
      @alexmorgan3435 3 роки тому +1

      @@NothingToProve Thanks for your thoughts. Very helpful and more along the lines I am thinking. I want to like the S1000R, really do, but, I don't know. All the in-line 4 cylinder bikes I have ridden 600 up to 1100 have all been silky smooth, no vibes, so I don't know what BMW is not doing that other manufacturers are. Such a shame. Maybe I expect too much. But yes really looking forward to the SDR. Tuono prices here in the UK have shot up compared to previous years possibly the most expensive super naked now. The SDR and Triumph's new Speed Triple RS are looking good value by comparison. I shall get one but I don't know which yet, maybe wait till the end of the summer and try and get a good deal on either one. Too many good bikes. The MT09-SP is up there as well. Thanks again.

    Splendid review, Scott! Nice data charts again! Still I don't think you are very enthousiastic about this bike, am I right? Too smooth maybe? I felt the same disappointment when you reviewed the last Gen of the once so beloved Superduke:-) I think a supernaked should be basic, rough, challenging, even a bit dangerous. One should have the guts to buy the basic version for much less money... You don't need Cruisecontrol on short, fast rides.

    • @NothingToProve
      @NothingToProve  3 роки тому +1

      Yea, "clinical" is the word I'd use for this bike. So serious, so sharp, so refined...which leads to so boring. Plus the engine sound and exhaust is just uninspiring 😒 To use this bike on public roads is boring, now a track day, GREAT just the bike I'd use but other than that, nope, pass. 🥱

    Thanks Scott for a nice video. Independent testing has validated BMW’s claim of 0-200kph @ 8sec. As fast as the Ducati V4S, currently the fastest naked bike which has a peak power of 205bhp. Not bad at all. The lightness, and the outstanding agility of the new S1000R is coming out in all reviews. You are so right that BMW are charging a lot to get the weight down to 194kg. There is hardly any difference in price to a S1000RR with M package. But it’s fine by me to own such an outstanding naked bike. It will complement my R1250RS nicely. Notice that build quality seems to be going down as well as features and options offered as standard across the board from all premium manufacturers. This is what happens when society will settle for chinese products at a premium price. All other manufacturers will begin to over charge or offer less for the money. In life,we will always get what we settle for.
    Keep up the good work, and please stay safe!

    I know this sounds strange, but I do think you need more thumbs. Everything seems to get two thumbs up... literally everything! If you had say... ten thumbs, then you could give a nine or seven and this would be more informative. Enjoy your output... thank you!

      🤣🤣 Thank you. But the bike last week just got one thumb...I had to qualify the one thumb but I still gave it 😥
      But the bottom line is that bikes are getting so good today that there is rarely a "bad" bike out there. Exceptions are for example Royal Enfield, MV Augusta, some Chinese/Indian/Italian OEMs but I really don't see those bikes here in Germany, so I don't do them and therefore two thumbs up LOL!

      @@NothingToProve I disagree, the problem is there's no room for nuance.... if you give two thumbs to 'almost' everything, how are we supposed to differentiate between them. Like you say, most bike are just so 'good' nowadays. For instance you could've given this superb bike say.... nine, one thumb away for price gouging!

    Great bike though a MASSIVE shame on the colour scheme / Paint job and the rather flimsy plastic fairing parts.

    Wow that’s an ugly motorcycle. Am sure it’s wonderful to ride but I could not live with those disjointed looks. Looks like a crashed sports bike that’s had the top fairing replaced by a street fighter light from AliBaba website. The cat box is plain ugly and the rear subframe looks like a cast off for an old Ducati monster.
    I am a BMW owner so tried squinting as I wanted to like it but nope it’s awful and the competition all looks way better.
