Top 2 Longest Field Goals in CFL History (60+ Yards)

- 8 Years ago I uploaded a video with a title that had "Longest 'Field Goal' in CFL History" on it, despite it not actually having any footage of a field goal.
So, I decided that it was time to actually make a video with the longest field goal, and in this case, the two longest.
I would have liked to have included the top 3 but I couldn't find any footage of the two field goals tied at number 3; one by Dave Cutler in 1970, and one by Paul Watson in 1981, both of which were 59 yards long. In fact, the four longest field goals in CFL history were all kicked at Taylor Field in Regina by a Saskatchewan Roughrider kicker. There have been at least eight field goals made from 58 yards deep, as recently as 2016.
Best part about these? They're both RIDERS!!! GO RIDERS GO!!!!!!!
I was at both of those games. The wind was epic.
I kicked a 64 yarder ( with strong wind ) from a tee when I was about 19. Used to go to the field all the time and attempt to beat the world record at the time, 63 yards. Obviously mine would never have counted but it flew between the uprights like a guided missile 🤷♂️🤣🤣
Impressive!!!! My longest was 47yds, with some wind. Both made at Taylor Field!!! And I didn’t see much wind either. How’s the present stadium? Looks beautiful! .
Really long field goals,I think,are more impressive up here than down there because our ball is harder and fatter,harder to kick---at least it used to be. Maybe the leagues use a similar sized ball now(don't watch football anymore). Feel free to correct me or jump down my throat. lol.
There is mention in the 2023 CFL record book that McCallum's 62 yard field goal is currently under review. It may actually be changed to a 63 yard field goal, given evidence from the Saskatchewan Roughriders. It looked to me like it was 62 and 3/4 yards, so they may change it. UPDATE: The CFL officially changed the distance of McCallum's field goal to 63 yards in 2024.
Given the team that kicked those field goals I can only say GO RIDERS!!!!!!!!!!
60+ yards is nothing to scoff at, but we have a club full of players down here that have yinz hosers beat. Go Bombers!
