  • Got a new chainsaw and wanted a protective case to contain oil drips, keep the saw clean and allow for easy transportation. The Husqvarna Powerbox looked like a good solution. Advertising indicated all the Husqvarna chainsaws that would fit into the case. Problem I have a larger Stihl MS462. Anyway, we rolled the dice and bought a case from the local box store...the story ensues.....

Hi, John! I consider the case a way to contain oil drips and keep the dirt off the saw when not in use. Seems OK for those uses. The Echo boxes look similar, but I did not see any to buy locally to check out. I have seen a lot of indications of happiness from 046 owners. Seems we will be doing a lot of sawing for a lot of reasons and the tool pile is growing (tools always pay for themselves). I have a MS 170 (homeowner grade saw for emergency use) that has simple screw on caps....those work better than the pro level caps. I clean around the caps before removal and still have dirt and sawdust trying to get past the seals. Almost like they are designed for failure. Just don't understand their design. Keep well yourself and thank you for watching.

I’m guessing the box wasn’t made in Sweden lol. Wow , nice saw. 72 cubes , 6 hp. That should get it done ! I’ve been running a 570 husky (69 cube) and find it a little hefty for me. I may trade her towards a 562 xp soon. Anyhow have a great day

Box made in the USA. Got the saw for some ripping use but makes bucking logs very quick work! Definitely a heavier saw and a bit nose down with the 28” bar. I like my MS 261 for most work as weight to power is pretty good. I was looking at trying a 572 XP but only option was mail order. Usually best to use a dealer if the are any good. Thank you for the comments.

I once put Jeep rims with Jeep centercaps on a Dodge Dakota. I was considered HEATHEN. I say what works, use it.

Mr. Woods, the 461 I put into my case had a 25” bar but I put a 28” bar on the saw. The scabbard that came with the saw is 25” long leaving 3” of exposed chain but inside the box. I do not know lengths of Stihl scabbards that may be available. Would be best to check with a Stihl dealer or inquire on the Stihl website via their customer service form on that site. They will answer any questions and provide part numbers. I do know Stihl has scabbard extensions that are maybe 6” that snap together to customize scabbard length. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

For lack of a better place to post it, I'm posting here: WHAT on earth is the "tube" on top of the old-style scabbards for? I know the indents on the side are for a scrench, but I have no idea what other tricks/hacks are for the scabbards in a STihl chainsaw case.
    Help?

Hope someone has a answer, have no idea on Stihl product. Even some features on this Husqvarna case are cryptic. Thanks for watching.
