Just like Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Dragon Prince is rich in lore that is beautifully and meticulously crafted.
Valigus I agree. While not on the same level as A:TLA, I think, in the least, it does effectively capture the spirit, the essence of it. You know, what made Avatar: The Last Airbender… Avatar: The Last Airbender?
Jemini Videos I agree its like korra they are both very good shows but when you compare it to avatar it’s just not as good regardless of what your favorite is avatar is still just a better written better designed show then korra and the dragon prince, which sadly I think does dragon prince and korra. Disservice since they both deserve to be respected but all anyone will see is a suboptimal avatar the last air bender because of how good atla is
Caluem is voiced by the same guy who voiced saka from Avatar the last airbender.
I think the tidebound and the earth blood elf's look more wild than the rest because ocean and earth are the closest to living beings making them more animal like looking
The Tidebound elves were f***ing gorgeous.
@@Doman9191 *people who crushes Aaravos, without knowing he was man, would disagree* but yeah, really great character
Callum associates 'love' with the moon arcanum/moon magic. Is he making that connection because of Rayla specifically? I hope he is, that would be sweet.
I thought about that too, and I really hope that's the case because that's just adorable
And more logical... imagine that: A 13 years old have more luck than generations of people that wanted to be a mages, in many ages... there was no love between human and elf... (I THINK)
Why has NO video ever mentioned the fact that Runan, Rayla’s “assassin parent” is still alive. In season 3 we saw that his assassin lotus floating flower thing hadn’t fully sunk yet, because he wasn’t actually killed; he was trapped in a coin by dark magic. We might see him and maybe Rayla’s parents be freed in season 4?
SHE PREDICTED IT! “He can be appeased when he tries something he has never tried before- maybe our hero’s will have some jelly tarts on them” bruh you are truly the best dragon prince theorist out there
Why do I get the feeling that the whole world of The Dragon Prince it's an Alien planet still stuck in Medival rather than in Medieval Times.
Yeah, the lore even stated that humans are new comers (lost human colony? Came from west) who were nearly starving to death and Unicorns taught them magic to survive.
Then they were genocided after humans know dark magic and use them as fuel.
@@powerist209: Or maybe it’s like in the Witcher Universe. Some type of glitch happen within the Universe that cause many alien races to wine up in many other planets with other races. Some hostile and some friendly.
Ok, we have the sunfire elves, moonshadow elves, skywing elves, earthblood elves, startouch elves, and the zoras from LoZ.
They all remind me of races from Legend of Zelda but Tidebound elves look the most like Zoras. There's concept art of what Zoras were going to look like in Skyward Sword and it looks a lot like the concept art for Tidebound Elves. I wonder if the same artists worked in both series.
Golden Jedi I don’t think they deliberately took inspiration from the races in Loz. Just two fantasy series with their own takes on elemental races that just happen to have interesting parallels.
@@RikkiJVelez oh my bad i thoughtvthey were connected but yeah they're just so similiar.Especailly urbosa and Zym both sharing lightning element.
Anyone else notice how the Tidebound elves look like Zoras, the Moonshadow elves look like Sheikah, the Skywing Elves look like Rito, and the Sunfire elves look like Gerudo? I wonder if it's a coincidence or a nod to the Legend of Zelda series. If Earthblood elves were more childlike, they'd be Kokiri as well.
The Earthblood elves are more likely to be Koroks as they are part tree.
I was watching this and noticed the gerudo when they were with that ambler thing and it reminded me of that giant Camel in Breath of the wild lol
The earthblood elves kind of look like a cross between gorons and the kokiri.
@@colecuts6948 I can see that as Gorons aren’t represented anywhere else and male Earthblood elves being the closest thing. Both Kokiri and Gorons are tied the earth element, just two different aspects of it.
The design of Aaravos is one of the most magnificent character designs I've ever seen.
Startouch Elves are absolutely gorgeous!!!

"omg... crazy and dark theory: it's all one big reference to drugs?"
I mean it's obviously not but now I can't stop thinking about it.
Tidebound Elves have gills on their ribs...that's just like the merfolks in Sirens
All this thing of Aaravos being forgotten and every information about him unable to access reminds me of the damnatio memoriae in roman culture.
This could be season 4 stuff. Callum asking about aaravos and being rejected and that his cube is acting strange
Levin dikkaya i have a theory about the cube. Maybe when all sources are around, the cube will open up and reveal a mystery🤔
@@ozmasterofmasks5838 maybe it turns into an actual key if every primal scource is around?

The Earthblood elf face kinda looks like bolin for The Legends Of Kora
Omg it shows us Katolis sign language! That’s gonna be good..
And about aaravos
His “*key*” reacts to primal magics
I have a feeling exposing the key to all primal magic types at once would unlock aaravos’s prison dimension and free him.
Why would he make a key for his own prison? Plus, it stated that it was passed down to multiple individuals, Aaravos was one of them, he wasn’t the creator of the key
Finally! I've been dying to now what Ocean Elves were called!
Tidebound Elves, good name.
They're names have been known for ages. If you check the fandom Wikia page, all the races have been listed for a while.
It would have been nice if they kept to the naming conventions of the other elven species and reference the primal magic source (SUNfire, MOONshadow, EARTHblood, etc.) but I'm fine with this too. It just seems a bit more literal (tidebound - bound to the tides/water).
@@wolfstormwizard424 No Oceanshore Elves or Oceanside elves sounds better.
I just realized that callums rune cube is a key to freeing aaravos from his prison
I think that too. I just pieced it together more quickly cause it seems a little obvious to me.
1 year late but that theory is quite illogical due to the fact Aaravos wasn’t the creator of the key, it was passed down to him from someone else. Plus why would he create a key for his prison and how would he create it? He was stuck in Avizandums cave ever since he was trapped inside the mirror.
6:33 Does that look like Hunk to anyone else?
15:30 The "Freeze spell" Viren used to freeze thunder was "Aspiro Frigis", which seems to be a cold variant of the standard blow spell, which is sky magic. This also would make sense, since Viren was in possession of the sky primal stone at the time. So I don't think, sadly, we have seen any ocean magic as of now. The closest we got, I think, was a Dark Magic Spell Claudia used at their betrayal, when they set out from the moon glade. Te weird tentacly thing she used to cast the spell seemed to be themed for the ocean arcanum. On thing I also remember is a freeze spell Aaravos used through Viren at his arrest by he guards. But I cannot really tell if this again was sky magic or ocean magic.
Callum associated the word love with moon magic......
I think he really really likes Rayla
lux aurea reminds me of ba sing se. i love it!
Wonder if all the other elfs also have capitals like lux aurea
@@1ninjabob i wonder if skywings have a city in the mountains
I love this type of books because it expands a series worldbuilding and lore, and it’s always so interesting!
i get the feeling sunfire elves are a type of startouch elves almost like they used to be startouch elves but split and became a new race of elves since the sun is a star
Because of how Tidebounds vary wildly depending on location, there's still a possibility of true merfolk Tidebound Elves!
callum and rayla are so cute together, let's just hope she doesn't turn into the moon this time
If they are going as far as to release books like this then there got to be a Season 4 coming. Now if only they get around to announcing it already. Then again they might be holding off doing that to build up the suspense that way more people will watch Season 4 when it does come around.
I hope rex ignius, earthbloods, tidebounds and star touch come in season 4
OK, now this might be the last piece to set up a working Dragon Prince RPG campaign. I now I've mentioned it before, but it was bugging me.
Its also helps shore up one of the show's weaknesses. We don't feel the size of the world as much as we should. That is probably due to the 9 episode limit per season.
Me: *watches video*
Also me: *BUYS THE BOOK and then 25 more*

The new elves are awesome!!
Kezi is Non-Binary ^-^
Nyx is probably lesbian (in shows it's common for lesbians to like lilies as a sign)

I HAVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR TIDEBOUND ELVES
Avizandum: I can see 1000 miles.
Flat Earthers: tell me more.
Writers: What have we done.
211miles of sight from the top of Everest. Maybe dragons can fly really high up? If spells can block the effects of altitude sickness it could be possible. And we don’t know much about Xadia/the entire planet they’re on. Maybe the planet is very large but not super dense (to keep gravity down). Maybe their atmosphere is thicker/extends high allowing for higher flight and or easier breathing.
My head canon is that being a star elf allows him to manipulate light on some level. So he's bending light along the curvature of the planet to see further, even if what he is seeing is not in his direct line of view due to said curvature.
Well, Avizandum is a sky dragon. It would make sense that he can probably fly higher than most other dragons since his magic could likely cancel the atmospheric effects. Also note this is from Callum's point of view, so maybe it's just hyperbole?
@hunter christensen well I do remember there was a Q&A with a fan that was asking if there was a magical reason for a river running through a continent and they said they just didn't think about that too hard (but now that it was brought to their attention, sure, it's a magic river). So it's super likely they just didn't go too far into the weeds with the science
cartoon universe: Earthbound elves
me: did you me shay and hunks child
My big question is: How doeas Amaya know of this light-being mode? My guess, Janai can do that, too. Amaya had to get her sight back somehow after her jugement of light. And since Janai and Kazi where the only ones which we saw interacting with Amaya during her imprisonment, my lunch money is on Janai being able to use light-being mode. Maybe the blindness wears off after a while, but I don't think Janai is THAT kind of cruel to leave a deaf person without her eyesight for too long. Especially after Amaya saved Janais life and she spoke up for Amaya infront of her sister and queen.
I'm always happy to see more elves
Does it say if humans and elves can crossbreed? I need rayllum babies.
We had conformation a while ago that the 6 elf species can crossbreed. But they can oly have access to one parent's arcanum
@@altithoraxperotorum5133 I didn't say elf 1 x elf 2, I said human x elf.
@@starburst98 well perhaps theres an unintroduced human elf character coming. But i say with all their history it's unbelievable that rayla and callum are the first human elf couple
This is something I had been thinking about for a LONG time and the reason elves can cross breed is because they are all of the same species but just different with different arcanums and only one can be dominant to pass the primal source to the offspring and as for rayla and callum maybe having a elf human hybrid (which I hope they have a baby before the series ends!) I think it’s quite possible for them reproduce cause my theory is that humans and elves are genetically related to each other with the same genus the same way tigers and lions breed to make hybrids like say we know humans have 46 chromosomes and lets assume elves have 48 chromosomes containing their genetic code 🧬 and if callum and rayla get married and have a baby their child will probably have 47 chromosomes in total as their DNA got fused together (I hope this makes sense) 😂
@@montanaeagle2601 i kinda think rayla and callum aren't the first human elf couple. I even say one of the future characters could be a half elf. And this could have also happened when xadia and the east were one. Also wonder how humans and elfs would react about a half-blood and how an human and elf had a thing during their time of war
Dude the theory that Ezran is sort of connected to the earth primal is actually crazy

Theory: they used the moon nexus to trap Aaravos in a world between life and death and destroyed it so his only way out was the mirror.
This is so cool
I want to eventually learn about the ability sets that come with each arcanum. They definitely go beyond simplistic elemental magic. It was shown that the sunfire elves have both heat-based abilities like with their swords and some kind of physical augmentation aspect. It would be cool if the star arcanum grants psychic or precognitive powers. I honestly cannot think of a thematically consistent ability for the tidebound elves besides hydrokinesis. That alone is pretty weak.
Little Avatar nod on the top of the Ocean Magic page. Katara's necklace design right next to the title.
The fact season4 just came out and they literally did Rex igenus a jelly tart
I have an idea of when star magic is the strongest could be the planets alignment alike the harmonic convergence from Legend of Korra or maybe when there's shooting star.

When Claudia was writing about how to do a smoke wolf spell and said that you need the ash of the thing you want to turn it into i relised that that means that viren must have used the ashes of HUMANS it make those assassins

I think Tidebound elves don't have "ocean" in their name because they are in other water sources too- swamps and rivers are still water, still ocean arcanum, but not the ocean itself. But all these different, diverse types of water sources are still connected, physically and by the arcanum. They're all bound together by the same tide, no matter how different they are.

Tides only effect the ocean where rivers which are caused from lakes/underground sources that eventually feed into the ocean.... So really ocean does make more sense to include the other bodies of water over tide... I think they just liked the sound of it more.
I hope Callum gets connected to all the primal sources when he unlocks something with the key of Aaravos

@yellow tongue Claudia isn’t a villain. And also if she turns into a villain, she’ll probably be locked up or killed in the end, why would you want a female villain if they would die anyways.
It would be cool if the 6 types of magic thematically complement each other by relating to different aspects of humanity. The moon arcanum deals with the mind. The sun seems connected to moral integrity (when considering the interrogation scenes).
5:45 yeah first i've tought that aaravos was a girl too 😅
