He lead the surge of the read option O a lot of teams started to run that year. it’s such a shame what happened with him & luck .. if they never had such bad injuries both Washington and Indy would be competitive

Looking back, this draft class fairly or unfairly set high expectations for what rookie QB's could do or even should do. It wasnt that long ago in my lifetime where a guy like a Hasselbeck sat for some time and then was ready to start elsewhere. Now its like oh you didn't win OROTY or make a pro bowl year 1? I guess you must be a bust Idk *fan shrugs* it's just wild to think the expectations raised so much with classes like this. A Matt Ryan type rookie season was an anomaly for instance by comparison. The QB position is always raised expectations versus any other position, but its only grown with time as the game changes further to benefiting the passer.
I remember when I was 11 watching him throw a 70 yarder to Alfred Morris. You could feel the energy he had everyone was yelling RGIII the second he came on the field.

This 2012 season was so memorable. My son had just been born too-hell be 12 in a few weeks. It was the first time having great optimism about the Skins since the mid 2000s with Moss, Brunel, Portis & Sean. This season was magical unti it all fell apart vs Sea.
My son went to CCHS with RGIII and they graduated in the same class of 2007(RGIII graduated early), said he was cool with everyone, a genuine nice guy!!!
RGIII was a unicorn QB. Ahead of his time. Arguably the start of the RPO was born with RGIII. As a Washington fan we felt invincible. No one could touch us. He was our savior.
Jayden Daniels and RGIII both are mobile QBs taken at the 2nd pick. Comes to the draft in the same suit. Have the same rushing stats in college. And our 2012 schedule is basically identical to our current schedule except for 2 games. Really feels like a do over 😂
Will always love RG3 he made me fall in love with football. Played for my favorite team, wore my favorite number, had that clean one sleeve with da glove, and was just so damn fun to watch. After he got hurt the team has been at the bottom of the league and a laughingstock as it was during the whole reign of he who shall not be named. Fast forward too today and we have a guy in Jayden Daniels who just like RG3 resurrected the franchise and is one of the greatest rookie qbs we’ve ever seen. And while I love JD and tbh think he’s better than RG3 and is the greatest rookie qb to ever play, RG3 will always hold a special place in my heart and I’ll always love him for what he gave me
Watching this man in 2012 play the game his way was nothing short of spectacular. I've never before (or since) been so excited to follow a single player from combine to draft to season like I did with RG3. I'm not even a Washington fan (fyi I am a die hard Broncos fan) but there was something electric about this man that drew tons of fans from other teams as well to follow RG3 all season in amazement until Washington's absolute garbage stadium field pretty much ended his career. I was born after the redskins glory days so this season was a small bright spot for me as a Washington fan. I had given up on the season when they started 3-6 then they had that miracle win streak to make the playoffs and beat Dallas in the last week as the cherry on top. Sucks they ruined his career.

As a Washington fan, the 2010’s weren’t all that gratifying. Hell, since the dawn of the 21st century most of the teams play has been forgettable.
